Hi Joe,
Congrats on the surge in interest in Surfing - I remember trying to learn many of the tunes on that disc 20 years ago and I am ready to dig back into it again - it has a lasting quality to it.
I have two questions that I would like to discuss with you in some way. One relates to your old 1950 Martin D28, which I am seriously considering purchasing. I thought I might see if you could share your insights about that guitar before I plunk down my $8K.
The second question relates to a rumor here in the Bay area that you sometimes teach guitar lessons - so the obvious question is how might I get involved in that if in fact you are doing that.
My contact details are jackthrift@hotmail.com
Thanks for any insights on the guitar and any follow up on question number two!
Jack

js1200js1000 - hmm, if it's not Cool #9, then I can't figure it out from your posts around that date. I didn't think that one was Cuniberti, since Glyn Johns produced the self-titled blues album...
That's alright - thanks for the help. Non-threaded discussions make research really fun sometimes :-)
jackthrift - Joe used to teach guitar lessons, to anyone wanting lessons from SecondHand Guitars (I think that's the name of the shop), and to some pretty famous people (Kirk Hammet (Metallica), Steve Vai (solo, David Lee Roth), David Bryson (Counting Crows), Larry LaLonde (Primus), etc.), but he gave that up a long time ago. Unless you meant there's a rumor that he's teaching again, which I haven't heard...
Check out http://www.zipworld.com.au/~mayor/satriani/science_students.html for info on some of Joe's students, if you're interested.

Good Morning Satchland......How Are You ?
Cheese..... Ben' trying to get back here since Tue. to tell you the vid you posted with Grace Potter and Joe was amazing. Great Stuff. I have to admit I've never heard of Grace .....but man can she sing. Did you happen to notice how Joe just locked into what the band was doing? Joe played off the horn perfectly and was transfixed on the music. You can see this with the camera shot on Joe's face. Totally into what was happening. The soul in Grace's voice was a revamped Janice. Thanks Again it was great......BTW.....put that one in my favs. Hugs to ya.....
Gigging for the next three weekends. It's gonna be great. I can't wait to hit the stage. Should have some some tunes on our web site soon. I'll keep ya posted.
Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! ! !

Satriella - The show went great! Thanks for asking. There was probably between 50 - 100 people there (small club) so it looked pretty full . I always get a little nervous when doing a show(but that's a good thing)however it all goes away once we start playing.
Cheers, Dan

danny K......I know what you mean about being just a tad nervous before a show. It's funny how that happens. We open our show with a short instrumental jam into the first song. It helps us all to settle in. I personally am more nervous about remembering lyrics than the music. It just takes one brain fart for a split second and your mumbling....lol.....Good luck to you and your bandmates. Keep Rockin'

Satch, I have been there with you from the very start. Hendrix, you and Vai. My musical triad. I am going backstage for the Vai show here in Chi-town, if I could shake the two hands of my last living legends it would be the thrill of a lifetime. I catch ALL your shows here (as with the 20th anniversary show) and am wondering if the music Gods can grant me this wish. To shake YOUR hand. IS THIS POSSIBLE? I know this is a public post, but I'll take the chance. Thanks for the memories.

What's is your guitar set up?
Here is mIne.
1989 '62 reissue Gibson SG Heritage Cherry>Dunlop Cry Baby Wah>Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff w/ top boost, Boss Metal Zone MT-2 or Boss DS-1>Boss DD-3 Digital Delay(400 to 450ms)>Peavey Ultra Plus Head 60/120 watts>Crate 4 X 12 Stereo cab loaded w/ 70 watt Celestions.
The Ultra Plus is always on the Clean Channel. I don't care much for Peavey's Gain. Master Volume-2, Reverb-2, EQ-(H-4),(M-3),(L-7)Clean Channel Volume-6.
The Distortion is set mild. Just enough gain to drive the amp. Too much gain and things get muddy.
The top boost on the Metal Muff is awesome for leads or for a hotter rhythm sound.
The MT-2 is Modded and I like it for smooth lead lines.
The DS-1 is for Classic Rock and Blues.
I only use one Distortion pedal at a time. My favorite is the Metal Muff, it is a must have for any Rock Guitarist. If you haven't checked one out yet you don't know what your missing.
That's my rig. Simple, but it works for me. What's yours?
