Hey man. As you can probly tell Im a new member. Only got into your music last year. I cant tell you how much youve inspiration me. Youre sound is just so cystal and thick. As a matter of fact ive a peavey jsx on its way to me. I got Your sig model the Ibanez js 1000 btb a few months ago. Sweetest guitar I ever played! Although il never live up to you I love playing and wont stop 'til im in the ground!. I have learned so much from you in past year. Your legato licks and whammy bar technique's are breath-taking to hear. I know theres a real slim chance of you reading this but if you ever stumble accross it, would you please, please, please come to Ireland. We may not be the biggest country but my god it would be an event Myself and a few others I know would give their left leg too see. Best wishes man. Your the definition of 'inspiration'!

mikesb...... Yeah it's great CD. Joe's on the rode for the first time with keyboardist. The band sounds great. I liked Joe as a three piece but there's something about the keys that fills out the sound. We went in that direction for the same reasons. Having keys free's a three piece up and adds a over all full sound into the mix. I love what Kevin Shirley is doing with Joe's sound and songs. I think this is a good relationship that I hope keeps growing. Thanks for the nod on the WB Ash show. I hopin' it comes togather for us.
Gruskada..... The pic of the mural is in the fan art section on this site Click Here Thanks for asking. Take Care

Keniko - Wow - that's perfect! Really nice job.
McKenna - yeah, I'm learning all the notes on the fretboard now.
Any tips on how to more easily memorize it? I've heard making up a story that starts with each letter is pretty effective (i.e. Everyday Aliens Don't Get Big Enough for the open strings :-)), but then what do you do with the sharps and flats?
I'm mostly doing it by brute force now - playing a random note, then counting up the string to figure out what I just played. And I know a lot of the notes at the dots, but I've got a long way to go. I'm also reading Noad's "Solo Guitar Playing" book, and "Fretboard Logic". Both seem to be great books, but I'm having a hard time plowing through them.

Amir K - you making fun of GW-BASIC? :-) I did some cool stuff when I was a kid, like, um, the "Name Game" (Banana-Fana... etc. - you entered your name, and it replaced the letters) :-) I also composed my own music in BASIC (monophonic, of course), and wrote my own "Choose your own adventure" games, which I thought was pretty cool (at the time, anyway - I think I was 8 yrs old) - I've got to dig up that 5 inch floppy disk at some point - too bad I've got nothing to read it now... Anyway, sure, mail me if you have any questions, and I'll see what I can do.

Learning the notes on the fretboard as Blue_Moon said is definetely the most important thing. Now the way you choose to do this depends on you mostly.I learned the fretboard through modes. It got me familiar with the sound of each note
and then I sat down to see which note is which.Joe is a pro user of modes...goes from one to another before you know it!
Oh and I highly recomend learning both modes and scales on each string linear...in my opinion it's much better than just going down/up scales on one position.

Hey everybody my name is stefano im new and i live in the UK i been playing guitar for about 9 months now and ever since i started playin i explored new music genres and came across joe satriani (even though i heard of him before i always stayed focused on one genre of music before i played guitar). Definately someone who i respect alot and very talented. My main aim as a guitarist is to be able to play similar speed and technique that joe has. The only problem is that since i have been playin for just 9 months i am struggling with developing the whole shredding speed. I was just wondering if anyone (including joe if you have time) could help me out with ways that i could achieve my goals (i.e. is there certain excersices that i should do coz at the moment i just go up and down the fret board with a metronome. Any help from you guys and joe would be great. P.s. joe you are a god on the guitar ;)
