Well I am at the end of my first week as a new college graduate. For some reason it hasn't hit me as "all that." I'm hoping that the fall term of NOT having classes will make it a bit more...something.

Cheese - My dad took a wrong turn out of the Crater Lake area and had to stay the night in yer town on Mon.. He said it wasn't as scary as he had feared. LOL BTW: I never heard from your buddy, hopefully all is well and he has settled in. You comin up for Vai next month?

civ....congrats on finally making it through school...I understand the feeling of...."Huh, is that all?" It doesn't really set in for awhile that you don't hafta go back or spend every spare minute studying :)

My friend won't be arriving there till mid-October....I did pass yer contact information on to him, we'll see if he loses it or not, LOL!! But you prolly wouldn't hear from him till at least then in any case.

Dunno what to say about yer dad...at least someone in the family shows a lil taste ;) As fer Vai, woulda done the Portland show if it was all ages, since I'm taking Chris....but noooooooooooooooo it's 21+....so we're hitting the show in San Fran, less than 3 weeks away now :))

This Day in History

Potato Chips First Prepared (1853) It is believed that the original potato chip recipe was created by Native American chef George Crum at the Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, NY, on August 24, 1853. Fed up with a customer who continued to send his fried potatoes back, claiming they were too thick and soggy, Crum decided to slice the potatoes so thinly that they couldn't be eaten with a fork. The customer was delighted, and the chips became a regular item on the lodge's menu.

Wow Crisps were invented today

Civ, sounds like a bride's wedding experience, You go through all that hard work for all that time, then when the big day finally happens and is over, yer like "hmm, is that it?" LOL!!! I think my 40th birthday was like that too - and that took 40 years of hard work to get to!!! Big congrats because it's a big deal - even though you don't feel it yet. lol!

They closed our IGA about 15 years ago when we moved to this town. It's a lovely Blockbuster strip mall now.

potato chips alan!

edit: Climber, just saw the picture of your bike and my heart sank. I'd be sick if I had that and couldn't ride it (not that I ride, but that's a feckin beauty!) Hope each day brings your knee closer to a full recovery - and QUICK too!

The "F" Word

(Correct use of the "F" word) When is @#$% Acceptable?

There have been only twelve times in history when the "F" word was considered acceptable for use.

They are as follows:

12. "What the @#$% do you mean, we are Sinking?"

-- Capt. E.J. Smith of RMS Titanic, 1912

11. "What the @#$% was that?"

-- Mayor Of Hiroshima, 1945

10. "Where did all those @#$%ing Indians come from?"

-- Custer, 1877

9. "Any @#$%ing idiot could understand that."

-- Einstein, 1938

8. "It does so @#$%ing look like her!"

-- Picasso, 1926

7. "How the @#$% did you work that out?"

-- Pythagoras, 126 BC

6. "You want WHAT on the @#$%ing ceiling?"

-- Michelangelo, 1566

5. "Where the @#$% are we?"

-- Amelia Earhart, 1937

4. "Scattered @#$%ing showers, my ass!"

-- Noah, 4314 BC

3. "Aw c'mon. Who the @#$% is going to find out?"

-- Bill Clin ton, 1998

2. "What do you mean there is no @%#*ing key to my ankle bracelet?"

-- Martha Stewart, 2005

and a drum roll please............!

1. "Geez, I didn't think they'd get this @%#*^ing mad."

-- Saddam Hussein, 2003

Webmaster - lovely pics, as always! And that's quite a camera from the look of the spec... nice

All - wow there's so many great pictures, vids & audio on here at the moment, thanks for sharing everyone, loving it. It's almost like being there... almost

Gruskada/anyone - I was listening to Disc 2 of Time Machine... can you remember why specifically Joe overdubbed some of the rhythm parts to Circles? As I've forgotten...

Slansh/Daddariosoul - I think it's uber COOL that he sat down to make sure he nailed the Crushing Day solo. I know that song has been a pain for Joe live, and I'm really digging the fact that he kept analysing it (like the great master/teacher) he is and "fixed it" so to speak.

Satriella - I don't remember doing anything post worthy LOL

MIchelle - badgers badgers badgers... I've been annoying plenty of people with that little jem so thanks for sharing. I think I'll get a "group" together for next years X-Factor (UK American Idol effort) and audition with it.....

axeshredderjc - wow, that's some great tone. What gear are you using?

Joe - I'm still digging the fact that you seated yourself for the Crushing Day solo. There's probably never been a cooler looking/performing guitarist to do that mid song. Love it!

P.S Any chance you could do a fresh recording of this for us pretty please : ) Passed it last week and it made me smile so had to capture it

Have a great weekend everyone

Anyone heard the all-instrumental N.E.W.S. by Prince? I can't find it anywhere, but I'm wondering if it's worth getting.

Also, does anyone know what happened with the lyrics contest for the Super Colossal song? I'd love to hear it. It's interesting that it even happened considering this quote from Joe:

"When you hear an instrumental song someone is singing over, you know right away it's wrong." - from an old BAM magazine...

Joe Satrini - don't know about the ryth. parts. I know the bass had to be worked with b/c of initial recording problems...

BTW, that would be awesome if Joe would re-do "Talk To Me", either with a full band, or all on guitar. It's a good song.

Webmaster - I know you're probably never not busy, but would now be a good time to ask if you can find the Strange Beautiful Music listening party? If not, I won't ask :-) Also, I can't get the Crystal Planet EPK video to work. Do you know if that's just me? Sorry if I'm being a pain...

Gruskada - thanks for letting me know about the bass. You have mail BTW

Joe - how about slipping a re-do of TTM onto the new album. Make it a hidden bonus track or something... : ) It's a great song, we all love it here!

We have the NEWS CD from Prince - it's ok, not great at all. If you are a big fan, it is worth getting. If you are a fan of the hits, this is not for you.

Zinc - thanks. I just saw that Amazon has it. I'm not really a fan of Prince, but you've got to respect his work either way. I love jazz (esp. Michel Pettruciani (he's got the best name, too...)), so if it's anything along those lines, I'm sure I'll like it.
