JOE at the "I just wanna rock podcast" do you use the Millennia STT-1 in order to compress your sound?
It's amazing the BASS-TREMPLE balance at your sound. What effects do you have in mind to use at the live performance of that song in order to achieve that fatty-groovy sound?

Was listening to Dream Theater's "Repentance" from Systematic chaos, read on the case and Joe was in it as a guest "voice", along with Steve Vai! Didn't notice that at all..... just sounded like a load of random people. (btw the middle section has voices of people's regrets, that's what Joe was in.)

Check out the song here

Wizards Eye:

Yeah.....I was considering a Taylor also but they were out of my price range too. I wound up buying a good Washburn that was acoustic/electric....My Martin is not & I don't really need another really expensive guitar. I actually found a really good one right out of the box for about $250. My Martin is safe & sound with my mother in Tennessee. When I can afford a Killer mic, I will be bringing it down to Fla...

Slans:....I agree, There is some limit to what I would pay for a rare guitar but the old saying is "It's only worth what you can get for it."....A guy at Sam Ash said I could probably get $5,000 for my autographed Universe simply because of the # of well known player signatures I have on it.....& considering that there were not a whole lot of Universe's made. I will never sell it because of the reliability of it & the sentimental value it holds for me. Now if I was filthy rich, then I guess I would pay just about anything for what I want...right?.....

Clarky:

Thanks for the leg up bro. I am very proud of them whether anybody likes them or not..Production to me is everything!. You are correct about the killin' thing. Doing the research in the ol' book really shed new light on things as well as just getting in there & doing it..Trial & error is the best way I think. I must have burned at least 100 cd's then playing it in my car, referencing between other recordings..Now that I have the control over production, I try not to let things just "slip by"....Those were wonderful & encouraging words you said....BTW...Those links you sent me really helped too..

Oh yeah.. I almost forgot, my 1 year old son's favorite tune to go to sleep to is Cool #9, I just put on the G3 DVD & press play, he shakes, rattles and rolls until it knocks him out faster than anything else. Works like a charm each and every time, he's asleep before the end of the first track, go figure my boy is "lulled" by rockin' guitar music. Thassa ma boy!

My daughter's favorite used to be Buckethead's Electric Tears, she's long grown out of that but can still spot the big B's playing on any CD, no matter what I'm playing I'll say "who's that playing guitar?" and 9 times out of 10 she'll get it right if it's Joe or Steve or Buckethead. She hasn't quite got Paul Gilbert nailed just yet... ;O)
Ya-Yo Gakk was her all-time favorite, as soon as the song starts she'll blurt out "That's Julian Vai!". Did I mention... she's FOUR?!

"Bye bye!"

smooches,

Hi Joe,

I've been a huge fan of your music for years! Lately I've been addicted to 'Is There Love In Space' and the 'Satriani Live' DVD. Wish I could make it to your appearance tommorrow at the Guitar Center in Natick. Unfortunately, I'll be teaching guitar until 9:00 p.m. (long day!).

Hey all,

I am very much interested in buying the limited edition of the new album, but since I'm from Canada, Skyroo won't sell it to me. The Amazon.com link somebody posted here a while ago looks great, but I believe they only sell to Canadians through Amazon.ca, which doesn't carry the limited edition.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks a lot everyone, and keep on rockin' with Satch!

my dear joe; it is hard to explain how we are happy to learn that you've made a song named "aşık veysel". you love his music and "saz".it is so nice that "sazs' voice impressed you.we love your,we love jimi hendrix' music and you love our aşık veysel's music .. i die for you because you are such a great men..In İstanbul arena at your concert,i wish i could hold and kiss you even security men tried not to allow me to do.i think i would cry and cry as i could hold you because i 'd be the happiest in the world.maybe you are not coming to İstanbul but i will try coming to berlin concert as hard as i can. an Aşık Veysel song "DERDİMİ SÖYLESEM" has always been my favourite.in a rock albüm,Yavuz Çetin(great electric gitarist, turkish jimi hendrix.he suicide himself in 2001 at the age 31.he was like a god like you) plays to "DERDİMİ SÖYLESEM" in blues format. if only you could listen it. we always love and love and love you...

I have read somewhere that locking trems 'kill' you tone. Now, I think we can all think of one or two people who use locking trems and still have 'tone'.... Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Any experiences good or bad they would like to share with the world and help a liddle ol' kid from up North decide what to hand over his hard earnt ;-) pennies on?!

Has anyone from the Uk been to see Satch at the Manchester Apollo? 'Cos that's were I'd like to see him but wondered what the place is like. Any comments?
Cheers...........oh, yeah--I reckon I should say something about the new album......can't wait!!! :-)

Matt - so what amp are ya getting...??
I'm ordering another Marshall 1960B next week... yayyyy! !
been toying with the idea of getting a Marshall EL34 100/100.. thing is... they're not much louder than the 8008 I have.. and tonally there's not a huge amount in it...
the killer thing though is the weight.. they weigh a ton.. when I fly, I'm always hit with overweight charges cos the rack.. the EL34 100/100 will make things a lot worse....
but they are just sooooo cool looking.... lol..
wizard - thanks bro... glad you took the time to scope the site out...
dude...I think you're reading the tutrial a little wrong..
G-D-A-G is G sus4
so the progression is G -> G sus4 -> C
the sus4 chord is a momentary event that occurs 'on the way' to the C chord from G.. take another look....
did you get to mess with the Neapolitan 6th???
Slan - hahaaaa.. it'll be cool for us to hook up again on the same track... you bring the yang and I'll bring the gin... lol..
glad you like SSII.. I'm writing a new track right now called 1 of 9... hopefully this will be a lot more represtentitive as to where the band's vibe is going...
Satriella - don't worry about the phone girlie... I got a new one now and the number is the same...
jblaze - I actually find the production side of things the most difficult part... I understand all the concepts.. I read all the books.. know all the engineering and and physics etc etc... but I still find all that really tough..
I have a couple of killer dissadvantages:
- monitoring.. I do most of my studio work at night... which means monitoring on cans.. even though I have a really superb pair of pro cans, there's nothing quite like using nice monitors..
- shite ears... I don't think my hearing is that great and I tend to create overly dark mixes..
- my music tends to have huge orchestrations which is obviously a great recipe for frequency masking.. so choosing your eq settings for each track becomes critical..
- tracks... before I got Logic I was squeezing 50+ tracks into a 16 track machine.. obviously you lose a lot of control and therefore the definition goes with it.. but now I have Logic - 256 tracks - that should no longer be a problem.. I'll still have freq-masking to cope with but at least I'll have greater independent coontrol over each instrument...
'those links' - where those the ones with all the frequencies and instruments... etc...
