"Matt is your dentist"...? "What is your purpose?" No way.

The voice is clearly saying "MIND STORM"... :-)

cheese101 - Hi Tracie...I hope your mom and Chris are recovering well. I haven't talked to you in a long time...how've you been? Drop me an e-mail sometime.

And I have a story for you that I guess is kinda funny... I was cleaning out my car a few months ago and came across an old student ID card that belongs to Chris. I guess it was stuck between the back seat and trunk of my car, and only came loose when I put the rear seat down to put something in the trunk. So it must have been wedged in there under the carpet or something ever since the Satch gig in Ventura back in 2005, if you can believe that. I don't know if he remembers losing it, but I guess now you know where it ended up...haha.

bluebuffalo - It's interesting to hear you compare Explosions in the Sky to the Mars Volta. I totally get where you're coming from, but I doubt many people are fans of both bands. I've seen EITS twice and they seem to attract a really young crowd...I wouldn't go so far as to call their fans Emo, but they're some younger group that I know nothing about.

I'm seeing EITS at the Wiltern in L.A. on Monday. It should be a great show, again.

Anyway, you can listen to some songs on their website...let me know what you think. My favorite album is The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, and my favorite song is probably The Only Moment We Were Alone. All of their music is awesome, though...

dream3 - I saw Ozzy for the first time back in December. I've been a fan of his for a long time, since right before Ozzmosis came out, but was never able to catch one of his shows until then. He played at the San Diego Sports Arena, a venue he's played several times going all the way back to his Black Sabbath days. The show was the day before his birthday as well, so he was doing a lot of reminiscing throughout the night.

The most interesting moment in the show for me was hearing him sing Road To Nowhere. He wrote that about 15 years ago, just before I became a fan and well before he became a household name. So it was odd (in a good way) to hear it now, in the context of everything he has done in life since it was written...

chiles - It is "Stu", not "boo".
:-)

It's good to be back, everyone.

...Austin...

Hi Austin, how are you? Long time no see on the board....thanks for thinking about Chris and my mom....Chris is good, my mom is having a hard time with her pain but I hope it will calm down soon. I went over and attempted to make them their usual Sunday morning pancakes today....under my mom's watchful eyes....I did exactly what she said, she did a little adding of her own....and they turned out just okay...."a bit stodgy" as she said, LOL......I claimed innocence. But they were edible...I wonder how many will make it outside as bird food =/ I blame the medication she's taking, lol!

So you found the missing ID card eh? Actually, I don't think we ever even missed it....we were down there in April that year, school got out in early June and he never needed it the rest of that year sooooo....at least you have a wonderful momento of our adventures together, lol.....forget Satch memorabilia and collect "Chris stuff". And you know....we should both probably count ourselves lucky you didn't find something worse....and.....moldy....or something, to remember him by :) That's more his style, usually, lol....

Thanks for the nice chat last night Jamie....12 ft by 12 ft can be expanded, when you're ready. Hugs.

Chelle....did you come up with the name June bug or did I tell you that's one of her nicknames? If you dreamt it up on your own....funny :) We have several interesting names for my little mom and she puts up with most of them....her first name is Dorothy and the one nickname we can never get away with is "Dotty" Apparently in Australia it means you're a tetch confused and not all the lights are turned on. So she's always taken exception to that one nickname...which of course means thats what we always want to call her :D She gives me "the look" now, and I just tell her she has to catch me first if she's gonna beat me :)

Love you Joe.

Just checked out your track. The Rainy Day song rocks and has a cool groove!

As I listened through a couple times some ideas kinda hit me. One was the beginning licks between :03 and :19 are really sweet so I was thinkin' it might be cool to hear that sequence once more at :19. And then you have that really cool flurry around 1:33 but maybe announce it with like a 5 count drum beat buildup like: bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, SOLO! And then maybe close the song off heavier by throwing another 5 count drum beat in right before the guitar fuzz out. The only other thing that comes to mind is I wonder what the song would sound like played just a half speed faster?

These are just some thoughts, and the song is already cool as is so i guess you could take em or leave em!

Anyway keep postin' the cool songs......

_Jammer!
