zen"At the end, which is also the begining, I think there's an absolute rule:
Your tone is inside your own fingers, not inside the methods"
nothing of worth is absolute tis the water rule

"Nothing is absolute" is already absolute.. but if you find your tone into water, this symbolism is ok for me.
& hey, that doesn't really water.. euh.. i mean matter.

Yeah right.
Fingers are an illusion created by the mind, and sound takes its source in the mind, not the illusory mind of separateness but the source of meaning itself.
So there.
Got my JS1200 today. There's something to it. It's beautiful to look at, and although I wish the price was an illusion, the guitar is physically present.
I am missing some notes at the top (22 frets only) but the sound I wanted is here. The neck is not what my illusory fingers are used to but this thing sings anyway. And it screams more easily than the other one too.
I think I can develop a relationship with this very red guitar.
Candy apple they call it.
The redness and chrome made me think of a ZZ Top kind of hot rod car, but come to think of it, they could have called it blood red just as well. It's a very simple look, but very beautiful. Quite a contrast from the J.Custom (another red guitar, but a ot more ornate, with see-through paint).
The other guitar feels more immediate to me, but this one surprises me, in a good way.

As i'm lumberjack, i have to say that i think that the illusion is mind.
Fingers near a chainsaw are absolutly real. But each one his vision.

Pathology report on Chris is back, no cancer after all, no further treatments necessary, he's doing good. He said to tell everyone again thank you very much for the prayers and good thoughts and wishes, they meant a lot to him, and to me.
So tomorrow....my mom's surgery. Hope it turns out as well.

Tracie,
I'm very happy for Chris and you.
I'm a parent of a seven year old. My boy is just fine but I have a dangerous long term illness. I know the anguish of possible separation. I understand the sleepless nights you must have had. You know how a parent knows what another parent feels.
Sorry to hear that your mum also has a trial to go through. I'm sure that she is so happy though, for your boy. This will help her.
When I was a guitar teacher (long story) I had a student boy who had leukaemia. He was so adorable. So hard working, committed, intelligent, and always a pleasure to be with.
He did not make it. Although music is a great healer, it surely helped him along the way, but he didn't make it. It was very sad.
Chris has done very well to beat this. You must be so happy. And him so lucky to have you.
Give Chris a hug for me please. And be well.

dockuhl: Surely, you mean Power Cosmic off Engines Of Creation which was a 2000 album.
jblaze1:thanks for the response. Do you, or anyone else, know the details (cost etc.) of fitting a locking trem to a guitar??
zenfish: You my friend are dead right-all you need to do is look at people like JOE BONAMASSA and of course Hendrix to see you are right. TO EVERYONE, CHECK BONAMASSA OUT!! YOU TOO JOE!!!!! HE'S GREAT.
Superstrings: If I was religious I would say bless you.
stillpending: I'm not much older than you and in a band meself, I agree with pretty much everything you said.:-)
LiquidSIlver: I am the same, not knowing about 5ths etc. It's great to be talking to people like you thousands of miles away. Oh and congrats!!!!

Igneousiceman : Glad you agree. I'm not sure to be absolutly right in front the weird chasms of mind, but i'm fuckin right in a certain way.
SRV Lenny is a good illustration, even if, of course, brain is used to compose, but in that case, feeling & touch come first, that is to say, body.
Incredible song.. long time i hadn't listened to it.

Igneousiceman:
Gee man!,..It's been about 13 years since I've had any guitar work done .I bought a retrofit Floyd Rose/strat locking bridge set-up for about $250...that includes the nut lock also. The labor was about $60.....But you'll have to get some current prices. It may even be cheaper these days. Sometimes router work is needed to fit a guitar with something it wasn't designed for so there may be more labor involved.I am not familiar with your model guitar but it shouldn't be too much hassle.
I will say however,...I think it can be fixed with a little T.L.C. & don't go and buy all this stuff until you have done the research & talked to a pro about your problem. He just might have a simpler solution without you going broke in the process....
Maybe Clarky can give you some hints too
Good luck!........;)

Hey, we're three weeks away from the release date of the new cd. Any chance we can get a look at the cover by now, or are they just giving away discs with no cases? You know, throw them around like a frisbee.....

Roy : yeap, it has taken very long time for Stevie to find his own way beyond the blackblue & Hendrix legacy he got. & Beyond drugs & alcohol, as you know.
In Step seems to me the way of freedom. But Helicopter stopped everything.
The absolute.. hum.. the concept might be basicly religious.. but the feeling.. i don't know, i would say aesthetic.. EROS & THANATOS.
Spinoza has said : "Only the absolute can create the absolute". Spinoza.
So, i'm gonna to let the absolute to the absolute.
& my tone to my fingers.
