GREAT podcast!! >=:o)
thanx for the info about the word 'Musterion' Joe - it sounds like we don't have a word in english for it? same thing with 'Harpazo' which mean rapture...but the word rapture is not in The Bible O_o
i wish i could speak Greek ;P
edit: this is sweet what Paul writes
:
1 Corinthians 15 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—
that's what Satch's music does to you - you listen and in an instant you are changed! >=:)

Hmmm...I'm not sure if I understand the "exclusive" CD/DVD mentioned in the Guitar Center ads. It's not exclusive unless they have a third version of the album, because CD Universe is also selling the CD/DVD version.
Maybe the ad means exclusive among music stores, or among brick and mortar stores? Does anyone (Joe? Webmaster?) have more info?
Mag14 - Check out the CD Universe link above.
PhilTheMetalhead - Awesome...you'll definitely enjoy the show. I've been to 17 Satch gigs now, going back to 2000.
Anyway, what are some of your favorite Satch songs/albums? How'd you discover his music?
matt king - Yeah, 2008 is really flying by. I know Easter is pretty early this year, but still. I sorta started a new job a few weeks ago, and it seems like I blinked and then all of a sudden the holiday is here. I wasn't able to get time off or make other plans, but a coworker invited me to her church's Easter service...that'll be nice.
Regarding Musterion, I didn't catch the Not Of This Earth vibe right away but now that I think about it I can see what you mean. I hear a similar vibe on a lot of the songs, based on the samples. They almost sound backward or inside out when compared to what I might have expected in my mind...so that's very cool.
maritime - ITLIS? Nah...I'm getting more of an SBM vibe, as far as the production is concerned. I like it...
Narface - Welcome back! I've been away for a while as well, but just got back into this whole T2J thing a few days ago.
Have you gotten into any new/different/non-Satch music lately?
Zenfish - Look up the album on Amazon and listen to the samples. IJWR almost sounds out of place, so I bet you'll like the rest of it.
John2009 - It's hard to be completely sure because we don't have the entire album to listen to yet, but based on the samples it sounds like he's sticking to the same process he used on SBM, ITLIS? and SC. He likely wrote the songs independently, played all the instruments on the demos, and then brought the other guys in to record.
As far as recording techniques, well, Joe has never been one to just stick to the factory/industry standards. ;-)
...Austin...

About Mystery, the word has been used long time before Paul, in the Veda, if i'm not wrong.
Edit: I'm not wrong
The "big mystery" of "wakantanka" was also used by indians of america long time before Colomb reached the american ground.
There's also the idea of mystery into the african legba myth from Mali. This myth contains the idea that we all must cross the fate, & at his mysterious crossroad, must choose a way. When you chose, the choice can become good or wrong...
back to musterion.
All that means that the intuition of mystery is universal & beyond all the sig religions & books.

Do The Stu-
I first got into satch when I was looking for steve vai videos. A lot of comments on those videos recommended Joe's playing. I looked him up, and I think the first song by him I heard was "I believe". I was blown away by it and looked others up.
Surfing with the alien, satch boogie and the extremist were soon to follow as favourites of mine. It was nearing my birthday at the time, so I got the surfing album and the (then) new album, super colosall. Been a fan ever since.
