Matt K:yes sir, you, wizard, clarky & others but Eloquent comes t mind with Clarky, i sound like a wafflin baffoon in comparison, i have great respect for Paul who clearly is able to explain everything in a simple manner, kudos t him.If i were t explain the language every player N E S W would flame me lol, thats the reason i,ve held back from introducing my ideas & feeding them t the sharks on You Tube....ya gotta know how t talk about the turf even if ya know it!

March 18th, slan is scared t open the box of worms again, met some savage old peeps at the bar tho, amazing how the history of the civil war was seen from Galicia, Basco, Catalunya & Madrid dunno if goin t the bar was a good plan, now i get more questions than answers lol

edit "savage" means incredible in scottish slang

more important tho is this brace tight peeps....its goin t be a rough ride!

MJK....I hear beer is better for you than cheese sammiches....you could get one of those beer hats with the straws in them and just suck it down without any effort....whereas cheese sammiches, you have to keep lifting up to your mouth for bites. No wonder you have carpal tunnel......trust me, dump the sammiches and drink beer from a hat.....that will cure whatever ails you :)

It's strange....now I kind of get what it means to be seeing and living life through a "veil". So odd....people around me want me to be what I used to be...I know it would make them more comfortable and am trying to put a face on and pretend for their sakes...but it's not real inside me. I remember that person very well but can't seem to find her anymore. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

What did I get myself into, I've been feeling a bit beat up, with working full time, and school full time, not to mention domestic duties that come with being a parent. So my wife thinks I might be loosing myself in the mix. So I was looking for something to shake me out of it. my solution is a concert this Friday in portland. Going to see "BlackTide, The Days The Nights, StoneCreep and El Cerdo", I liked some of the stuff for StoneCreep, what motivated me to go to this show was actually BlackTide.

"El Cerdo" sounds like your typical cookie monster rock so not to interested in them. taking my 16 year old, I'm hoping some heavy speed metal and crazy riffs lift me out of my funk.

Heeeyy Joe... Just curious, where did you get the name for the Satchurator pedal? I was wondering if you had seen my post awhile back suggesting that you call it the "Satchuration" pedal and modified the name. Don't wanna give myself any false credit though, but I was pretty stoked when I saw the name for the pedal revealed! Let me know if you get a chance. Can't wait for the new album! Best wishes.

Phydeaux_3 - Whenever I do one of the preorders, I no longer expect them to arrive on the release date. With Joe's stuff, it's been that way almost the entire time...I think the first album of his to offer preorders was G303, and I don't remember it arriving on time.

Now I'll only preorder an album if it means I'll get an autograph or something else with it. But I never expect it to arrive on release day, so I always end up going to Best Buy first thing in the morning to buy it.

Something else to consider...Joe's comment was in response to a post from Maximagnet. And looking at the way the question was phrased, maybe Joe meant there are only 1,000 of the CD+DVD version available outside of the US/North America. That's still a small number, but it'd be in line with Joe's record label not doing too many promo things for the international fans (this isn't a dig at anyone, I'm just stating fact).

maritime - That price isn't bad at all...I expected it to be in the US$200-$250 range. But I play bass, not guitar, so it wouldn't make sense for me to buy it anyway.
cheese101 - "Does anyone else ever feel this way?"

I went back and looked at some of your older posts and I don't know what to say. I know it's cliche and doesn't even begin to make anything better, but I truly am sorry for your loss.

And yes, I feel that way sometimes. It wasn't as extreme as your situation, but I went through a lot of similar stuff in the last half of 2005. I got a new job and ended up cutting ties with a lot of friends...some were by choice, others were just a consequence of a bad situation. It's tough trying to rebuild...

Do you like the band Rush at all? In the late 90s, Neil Peart's daughter died in a car accident and his wife died of cancer within 10 months of each other. Neil gave up the drums for a few years and took a few motorcycle trips across North America to try and deal with everything. He wrote a book about it, Ghost Rider. It's a good read...you should be able to find it at your nearby Borders or B&N.

...Austin...

Hmm... I don't remember wolf2 from when I used to hang around here, but seriously how could I forget, right? Have all 3408 of his posts been this "interesting" or is this a new recent development? I guess what I'm asking is, has he always been this way? Does he get banned periodically? (honestly some of those stream-of-consciousness rants get a little racy!) Just curious. It's the train-wreck I can't look away from, I don't know why but I have to read every damned one of those things... I sure as hell hope that the novelty wears off fast, cuz interesting as they seem I still always feel ripped-off for time after I've finished reading one.

Can anyone else identify with my experience?

smooches,

slan - LE.. is that logic express?? I don't have that.. I have logic pro 8.. I've not encountered any agro yet... but then I'm not exactly working it hard yet... just sequencing so far...
building for the bottom up... lol...
from my experience with cubase though, I would say that cubase is a touch more intuitive. but then maybe that's cos I'm more used to it..
I've not tried recording yet... so I've not encountered this latency thing..
sounds worrying..

I saw you comment "i sound like a wafflin baffoon in comparison,"... lol..
dude... that's only when you try to explain your own playing style.... because your style is so out there is can't be explained... lol... when I listen to your CD I get this lil' voice in my head that says "hahaaa Clarky... welcome to the freak show... ain't so quick now are ya..."... lol...

Matt - here's a nice trick with the modes.... get the student to work out the modes with E as the tonic.... then play them whilst playing a drone on the 6th string... this gives the ears a nice point of reference... the tonality then really stands out...

jeez dude... last time we spoke was about an eon ago and you had carpel grief back then.... don't you think you should get it sorted??? or are you worried that you'll never be the same player again...
last year I broke one of my fingers on my fretting hand - I thought it was all over... I was totally destroyed when I saw the x-rays... 3 months later I cut The Feast of Buzzards - which many folks think is the best thing I've ever recorded... I never gave in, and I was determined to bounce back, bigger and badder...
I got the badder bit right... lol...

I have a band now - Curse of the 9th and we're mostly playing tracks from my album - Shredz at an Exhibition
we are though working on newer m ore band centric material - so I'll continue my instrumental stuff as a project in parallel with the band....

is CoE still doing stuff????

keniko - cool stuff bro... if you have questions about the tutorials post them up on my own forum - that way all the folks in my place can see the answers - especially if it means me making corrections cos I keep getitng the math wrong... lol.
if I had a sig pedal it would only have 2 settings...
- way too loud and off.. lol..

Hi Joe. Just wanted to say thanks.

Hope to see you in Chicago in a couple of weeks. Hey, just had a great idea - You are going to be less than a mile from where Blue Man Group performs. How about stopping in for a quick jam with them. Now I can see that. Joe Satriani and Blue Man Group! If that don't get the Grammy, I don't know what will.

deathcube and maritime...yes...I can see how you would both understand what I'm saying. Everything that happens to us in life...shapes who we are and changes us. Can't escape it. Life-changing is right....changes the spirit too. The world changes colors...not as vivid anymore, somehow grayer. Well, it's not the world that changes, but how my eyes see things now.

Austin....I thank you for taking the time and trouble to both look back to see what's been happening with me...and to post your suggestion about Neil Peart. I will look his book up for sure and read it. It means a lot that you cared enough to do that...hugs...and maybe we'll see you in San Fran or Reno :) I hope you've recovered from whatever happened in 2005.

Congratulations on your win JSTony...that's cool! Decorate the baby's room in Satch stuff, you won't go wrong!
