clarky ~ i hear ya on the satchness with CoE. It's my biggest inner demon~ Since the split though, things are getting...interesting? I've been focusing more on odd like scenarios and writing around them instead of just playing something that sound "cool" to me. Like...Santana vs the space aliens...the aliens win eventually and take over the world with the mighty force of the whole-tone scale.

oh boy...

chelle ~ work sucks but i understand. there has to be some way for the good ol' unlisters to reunite. i'll never forget the april shows in 2001 in nyc. even chris from france was there. such amazing times.

mari, i spoke with the the nameless old guy yesterday evening. i'm not sure about attending a satriani event, the guy is knee deep in IT work as usual. however~ we are getting together the first week of april to hit the strings and prepare something for the big instrumental guitar fiasco me and another local guy are putting together called "lords of the strings" ooooo not corny at all. we'll see how it all fallls in to play!

I am a guitar instructor up here in Northern Lower Michigan in a town called Manistee. I have a very large group a students and you, Joe, have an entire new legion of fans. Lots of them as young as 10 years old. You are the Holy Grail of guitar playing to me, and now many other people that are being exposed to your music feel the same way, and they LOVE it!! Thank you for keeping kick ass guitar playing alive and well. Don't ever stop.

Hey Joe, don't suppose you could come to the Isle of Wight in England could ya? They've started the Isle of Wight Festival up again, except it sucks major ass in comparison to the one Hendrix played at, and is this in need of The Satch. I also think it would pretty good if you got Slash on a G3 at some point, that would be awesome.

Hi Joe! Hi Everybody! First I'd Like to say hello to y'all (first post :D!). It looks fun around here. I think i'll be posting a lot more.
I grew up listening to Joe, My dad recorded the '92 Sevilla expo, and ever since it came on, I watched it many many times. i was 2yo at the time, but fascinated by Joe's Music. I praise myself lucky for knowing such great music for whole my life. I know I'm still young (turn 18 on march 23 ;))But I can always say I have been a fan of Joe since being a baby. Always with Me, Always with you was, and stil is my favourite song, especially like it was performed in Sevilla. Brings back so many memories...

And now, 2008, I can't wait for the new album! I can see i'm not the only one :P. i will be watching every podcast, counting down to april 1st. I love the title, It has a really cool swing. just say it: 'Professor Satchafunkilus and the musterion of rock' and you'll see what I mean. I especially like: Professor Satchafunkilus. that just sounds too cool!

Also, the new vox pedal, satchurator, looks and sounds like a beautiful monster. I'd love to lay my 'toes' on that one ;). The color is really sleek, love the red with the beige knobs. Really looking forward to the next pedal!

Thanks to anybody that wants to be thanked ;), and the Best wishes to everybody!

Yannick

GUITAR ADVICE?

Just purchased an Ibanez RG350 EX Guitar, with the 3 Piece WIzard Neck. Wasn't sure wich Guitar to go for, I find that most Standard Guitars I have trouble with the Necks thickness, therefore the Store Owner recommended the "Wizard Neck" Models.

Was this a good choice? Anybody own one here, or previously owned one?

I have always liked the Ibanez Guitars over other makes, which is why I picked this one.

Hi, I'm new to satriani.com but have been a big satch fan for years. Joe, it was a combination of your, Steve Vai's, and Yngwie Malmsteen's music that has slowed my thoughts of suicide. You music is so unique, and it will never get old. Looking foward to you playin in Birmingham soon, got the tickets yesterday, but don't do a Vai and turn up late lol. See you later.

Clarky - yeah, has been. I've only had time to drop on now and again much like yourself. Will drop you an e-mither. Things seem to be going from strength to strength for you (and rightly so)... good times!

Blue Moon - you download that software and recover your files from the memory card?

Webby - are the podcasts going to be in QT or flash. It's been great having them in QT so you could save them, but I notice the switch to flash for the current update. Any danger of the album ones in multi format?

gruskada - shame you have to go, as like Stu says, your posts are always interesting and fun. You really can't stay? Or come back in another guise? Maybe a new nick like "I am not gruskada - honest"... something subtle like that?

Andy of UK - thanks, about to tune in!

Carlpenn - you might want to post that on www.jemsite.com as well?

Joe - say hi to the T2J board when you're on the phone to birmingham in a moment won't ya : )

Blue moon - it works a treat for me, saved my ass when I binned some stuff from a memory card... also recovers all sorts you've deleted by accident from hard drives etc - give it a whirl if you're still stuck. There's another one, think it's called free undelete or similar and it sucks ass!

Wizard - haaaa.. looks like I missed your post... I love bluegrass... and jeez.. some of those guys can really play...
I've promised myself that one day I'm going to take the time to learn Texas Gales

so what's the new Ovi like... you can't just come in here and say things like "oh I got a new double neck Ovi" without going through all the gory details... it's just not sporting... lmao..

Mari - hey girlie... you're awesome... lol...
so what Satch wedding songs would you choose...
me? I'd start with Crying and finish with War... lol..
Slan - getting a bit silly is what Slan's do da best... lol...
I'm really looking forward to this one...
me on the other hand is going the other way... in Curse of the 9th there is less call for huge displays and trick bags.. it's all about the riffs and vibes..
that said, I'm still goping to b doing another Clarky album as a parallel project.. so I'll saves all me tricksies for that one I will ...lol..
lmao... love the clip... I've wanted to do that so many times.. lmao..
but ain't we all.... lol..
Matt - the earth defeated by the whole tone scale?????????
dude I so want a pint of what you're drinking...lol..
the other thing though is that you're getting older.. and with that comes experience and wisdom... you've always been a great player - even when you was just a lil' un'..
a maturer mind driving that technique of yours along though will be very interesting indeed...
I'm really looking forward to hearnig your new stuff...
very much so..
jblaze - you have mail......

and the tunes are smokin'...

I love 'em both...

carlpenn - bro... I've been playing RG's since the early 90's.. and loved 'em too... now though I'm switching over from Ibanez to MCG and tinding that I'm really enjoying a beefier neck... and if anything, I think that they feel quicker than the RG's.. I guess my technique is kinda evolving..
Joe Satrini - strength to strength?? well yeah you could say that.. but it's also little by little too...
I have no complaints really..
my biggest thing right now is getting Curse of the 9th out there and playing live... we're chomping at the bit....
great to hear from you again bro..

I know I'm retarded....but still.....couldn't figure out any way to hear the BBC interview with Joe, or how to find it now to listen to a replay. Sigh. Hopefully someone recorded it and will share?

I also wanted to say thanks.....so many of you here have posted supportive and caring messages on the board to me and my family...as well as quite a few of you have gone the extra mile and sent me private emails of encouragement. I appreciate each one of you for taking the time to care like that. It's pretty amazing that because of a website that Joe has where we can come together as fans to enjoy him and his music, that strangers can also care about one another....even from across the world.

Just.....thank you all. I'm not sure that my heart will ever recover from losing someone so important to me, but it's good to know there are good people in the world who take the time to care about a stranger. Hugs to everyone.

This is my first post and I'm a huge fan, I'm planning to see you on April 4th when you come to DC, but I really need to know the time you'll be getting there for the "Guitar Center" Tour. I only need to know because traffic is rough trying to get from Baltimore to DC, and I'd be forever grateful if you posted an estimated time of when you'll be there.

Thanks, and keep rockin'

Slan- Checked out Blue Bossa Phoenix. Excellent layering, very nice clean tone, fingerpicked parts were amazing, all in all very dynamic. That's Clarky on the distorted guitar? Amazing as well. As for me I'm still at a snails pace on the Conti version of the solo (I hate memorizing) but it's coming along. On the subject of Martin vs. Ovation for me it's all about price. I can barely afford my next meal let alone a new Martin. So I'll be playing my Ovation for quite some time. Sucks being poor. Anyway the songs on your Myspace are all very impressive and quite odd in some respects. Some really cool and unexpcted techniques coming out all over the place. Quite brilliant my friend. Quite brilliant indeed.

Good Afternoon Satchland....... How R U ?

Spring is here ....buds are starting to come out on the trees

AND CHICAGO IS GETTING FECKING 4" TO 6" OF SNOW THIS SAT.

I'm so fecking depressed right now. We've all had it up to here( hand over head) with this Winter. I'm really, really pissed off. Did I say I was pissed off? This really SUCKS ! ! !

On the bright side......Thank God there's always a bright side.

I met Michael Angelo Batio at the Arlington Heights,IL. Guitar Center last night. MAB was doing a Dean guitar workshop. Man was it excellant. He signed my "Speed Kills" DVD. What really impressed me the most is the person. Just like Joe.....reaching to fans, taking pics, sighning guitars and posters. He's really is a genuin guy not caught up in his own fame. What an inspiration. Clarky/Slans...not that I doubted your advise but he reinforced exactly what we talked about with the picking. It doen't matter if it's Alternate or Alternitive....as long as you play it clean and don't change your picking going from slow to fast. I'm pleased to say I don't and talking to him cleared any misconseptions I had about these techniques. Dean Zielinski was there also. This is another genuin guy. He's got long Black curly hair down past his shoulders and was wearing a Black leather hat with a Black leather coat with Snakeskin cowboy boots. Dean looked more like a biker dude then the CEO of Dean Guitars. Genuin.....you betcha.....What a great night.

Mari......No prob me lady. Thanks for the nod about our band. We're still kickin'....as a matter of fact coming home from the MAB seminar I got a call from Lyden Moon inviting us to play a gig with him. Lyden knows MAB real well and is on his site under Avilliated artists. We're real excited about this. Networking is key today for any band and I think this will be a good situation for us. I'll keep ya posted. Hugs to you.... God Bless .....

Roffler...... I might be going to Joe's Guitar Center meet. I 'll look for ya if I go.....Cool......

Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! ! ! ! !

Im just curious...do you need like some kind of a pass to get into the joe satriani guitar session at one of the guitar centers or can anyone just go? Because i remember last time you needed likesome sort of a pass to get into the free concert on the day super colossal came out. So I was just wondering...

Clarky- So you like gore, eh? Well it all started way back in Oct. 2007. It was an eerie day in Port St. Lucie, Fl. I was on my way to retrieve my '67 SG from the pawn shop when there it was, staring at me through the glass, the Ovation Doubleneck (violins screeching). I asked the man behind the counter if I could perhaps take this odd looking axe for a spin. He obliged me and after a few bars of Over the Hills and Far Away I was possesed. I turned to the mild mannered salesman and asked "How much?". He said "That there specimen's gonna cost you $1,000". From the back office I heard another voice say "You want it? I'll let ya have for $800.00 and you can put it on layaway". So began the maniacle pursuit of trying to pay this monster off. Month after month I would drive 40 miles one way (I had recently moved to Palm Beach Gardens) like a piper on a killing spree to make my payment. Nothing would stand in the way of my new obsession. Then came the day when my dear Uncle Sam told me I had given him to much money, and that he would refund some of it to me. Could this be true? No more waiting? She would be mine sooner than expected? Elation set in. Now this once neglected but beautiful instrument would be mine. The sweet choral sound of it's 12 string has been ringing out in my room ever since. Now here's the kicker. My hot little redhead neighbor upon seeing it decided she would have to flash me her boobs and she did. You could say she has fallen under the ghostly spell of the magical doubleneck Ovation (You should be hearing a theramin playing in your head right about now). I have another version where it wants to kill someones mamma. Oh wait that story's already been done.

Hey Slan, a Q.

Is it difficult to play the slower stuff when your fingers are just itching to get a shift on? Some of your stuff is insanely fast!
