Hey ya'll if you haven't had a chance to hear this fella play over on youtube, check him out. He's freaking awesome. His name is Gustavo Guerra and he is from the country of Brazil. He plays a lot of Joe's tunes and in my opinion does them quite well. He also covers Vai, EJ, Vinnie Moore, Reb Beach just to name a few and his original stuff is also well worth the listen. They've got quite a few good guitar players over there but in my opinion I think Gustavo and the 17 year old French kid Matt Rach are probably the best. So stop in and give them a listen. Peace.

MJK, I checked yer tunes on yer myspace. I always did love yer playing :)

Al, yer spoiled rotten going to Spain again. Make me a samish!

T-bones, hugs to ya. Joe wouldn't be happy that yer so sad. You need to find peace so he can find peace hon. I'll have a shot of Jag for the both of ya tonight. Cheers.

Finally had time to watch all the podcasts. I like the tunes way better this time around than when I heard the short clips on cduniverse (or wherever it was).

Good stuff Joseph!

Wizards Eye, I'm left handed bud, so I don't get to try anything... I buy my guitars online and hope for the best... Every time I go to a GC I always find the "lefty wall", which is pretty much a corner, or the size of a door, with two mexican strats and two epi LPs... So, unlike most of you guys, I can't sit and play every strat in the store 'til I find the "right" one (pun so intended)... It's either the one that can't stay in tune, or the one with the fret buzz... Or else...

so any more insights about the epiphone semi-hollow bodies will be muchly aprecciated guys!!!

Cosmic Ape- Your elementary school teachers were supposed to beat you 'til you were right handed. Our tax dollars hard at work. All kidding aside, if your gonna buy it before you play it, it's always gonna be a crapshoot. However, I have a friend who bought a Carvin out of a catalog and it's a beautiful guitar. Personally I'd never buy a guitar from a picture for $1,400.00, but I have to say it's a damn nice axe. I guess when you get into that price range no matter what your gonna get something fairly decent. Of all my guitars I play my Ibanez RG320DXQM the most and it's the cheapest at $299.00. It's tough too, I really beat the hell out of her, and she takes it like a woman (LOL). I would check the return policy so if it's really bad your not stuck. Also, if you play one long enough you will get used to it no matter what it is.

Hi Folks !

Here is personal review of Joe's new album... You're not required to agree ! :)

Musterion As joe depicted it, it's a tentative of representating the essence of Human existence. Well, hard subject ! A very very good melody (bartok minor), each note articulation (picking, tremolo, attack etc...) is pretty wise, a bit like Jeff Beck would do, but with all Satch savoir-faire and unearthy atmosphere he had since the beginning of his carreer. Maybe the solo would have deserved the same harmonic treatment, instead of modulating to basic minor grid.

Overdriver A Classic ! Stompy groove, nasty bluesy riff, Pitch Axis, octave playing for the bridge, etc... Everything is in there ! Wicked Solo, kinda slow hand ! This song is not about the mystery of the universe, but kinda makes you this you don't give a rat ass of where you come from and why you're here ! Maybe the antithesis of the previous song. Don't expect this song to revolutionize music, that's not the goal...

I Just Wanna Rock I disliked this song at first, but finally, it fits particulary well in the track sequence. Knowing it's a robot saying "What is you purpose" sounds way more funny, but without this info, it may sound a little pompous... The ZZ TOP song "Crunchy" (on Mescalero) could be compared, and I think is more way effective. But Joe's music has always been kinda naive (in the artistic meaning), so Let There Be Naive Rock !

Professor Satchafunkilus Funny goofy sax intro ! Family Business... Steely Dan/Fagen melody. A lot of tweeting cartoonish guitars, it could have been a guitar only piece, like Dreaming #11... It could have been also a video game theme, I see a lot of green pipes, blue smashing rocks, yellow boxes, red turtles etc... Then a timid bass solo suddendly arrives... what for ? To introduce a Kool And The Gang outro, naturally ! The melody is played a last time at the very end of the song, hidden like a small animal beetween twangy guitars... Soulful !

Revelation One of the nicest, simplest, straight to the heart Joe's melodies ever. Typical "naive" rock ballad ! Nice matching guitars for the bridge. Joe has certainly listened to his radio these days, bass parts doubled by piano are very trendy ! (Coldplay etc...) One or two unusual tricks in the solo. There is a lot of hope and tranquility in this track, like after having a good cry. Pure Cancer sign music.

Come On Baby This one sounds very californian. West Coast savoir-faire ! Bring a girl in your living-room,turn the light real low, play this relaxed melody, don't forget to play a sloooow solo, then show her your hairy torso with a half unbutonned shirt, and say "Come on Baby". She'll answer : "It's been a while since you played a strat !"

Suite...

Out Of The Sunrise It reminds the kind of stuff Joe Jackson would do, but with typical Joe's progressions. Very sparse melody (a bit like "Home"), don't need more ! The reaggae part is particulary effective, but I think a shame to have added some phaser to the piano, it's bit "cliché" in a song that isn't at all !

Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat (repeat 20 times !!). Reminds me a bit of "What it is Kid" from ZZ Top (yes I like ZZ Top). This song just lacks a big "Huh" at 0'24, and that's all. A funky mature song.

"Asik Veysel" First Joe's 9/8 ever ! Champagne ! It's the kind of spontaneous song written in maybe not more than half an hour. Typical satchy one string melody (Always, Raspbery etc..) Then, 1,2,3,4 BANG ! Pure dorian rock impro stuff, one of joe's fave !

Andalusia Funny intro, scratching an acoustic guitar ! It could be a nod in the direction of one of his most used quirks... Maybe a real grid is missing, but the intro is perfectly played and makes sense. A bit like the phaser in "Out Of The Sunrise", the use of reverse guitar sounds a bit like it doesn't belong here, but who cares, it lasts only 3 seconds. It's curious how "Andalusia" and "Asik veysel" are twin songs...

CONCLUSION

PSATMOR is a nice, mature, relaxed album, in which the musicians concentrated a lot on the dynamic of music. Not the kind of album your brain will be tired after the first 20mn. The mix is not agressive, not too much treble, earthy bass and mediums, wide and frank drums. Intros and outro often have special treatments, things that were lacking in Joe's recent music. Joe does not play too fast, and when he does, he does it in purpose.

Many songs reflect tranquility, childish moods without falling into nostalgia. This is not a "tour de force" record, and it's not meant to be. It sounds like a happy man record.

Friendly, from France Beedoo

Hello Joe and or everybody, Does anyone know if all the premium passes for shows are sold out in Europe? I cannot seem to find the red-premium ticket links for purchase, any reply is appreciated. Sincerely a music fan in Canada

It seems to be for me a little difficult in reading the chat messages/replies here. So therefore, I'll make it to Seattle cd release and then perhaps somewhere in Europe. Until then; Rock&Roll
