Anybody out ther wanna talk about guitar playing? I thought that's what this site was for. Anyway I've been messing with min. aug. b9's over alt. double flat 7th scales and dim 7 runs. I know its' kinda Yngwie-ish but the min aug. b9 gives it a whole new flavor. any thoughts?

I'd love to talk guitar, but I don't know enough to keep up with you.
Minor--I understand minor well enough
Augmented--does that just mean you bump up one of the intervals?
b9--??? 9th interval of a b scale????
Mixing neoclassical with blues rock makes for a fresh, progressive sound. Have you heard "Two-Face" by Doug Mikula? He actually got a Grammy nomination a couple years ago. He went up against Joe, but I think the Flaming Lips got it that year.

Canchito aug. means raised 5th. for instance A is the 5th of D. So A# would be the aug. 5th D. Eb would be it's b9. If you move every thing up a 1/2 step Eb's aug 5 would be B and E it's b9 and so on. In the key of E harmonic min the 7th mode of it's scale is called alt double flat 7 and starts on Eb. The min aug b9 chord I'm playing comes from this scale. As does the dim7 run. Also for a change of color I'll return to the Dmaj (myxolidian) from the E natural min scale with a kinda country lick, and finish in E blues. Does this help?

that way all the fxs your used t working with on windows cubase, cakewalk etc you can now use with programs like Logic pro or Pro Tools on mac.....happy days

D# alt double flat 7 scale is spelled like this, D#, E, F#, G, A, B, C. The cool thing about this scale is that you can play a maj triad (D#-G-A) or a min triad (D#-F#-A). Also a dim7 (D#-F#-A-C) the min aug b9 (E-D#-F#-B). Notice how I lead off this chord with the b9 (E), but it can appear anywhere in the chord you like. you can also throw in the C for a maj 6th effect. When you move to the Dmaj it changes all the parameters and you return to the natural min for a nice effect. Capping the lick off with E blues (E-G-A-A#-B-D) gives a sense of resolve to the whole thing. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Joe, John!
COOL! think i'm first post on this....Just checked out the new Musterion site opening and everything is lookin' good!
JOE!,' just listened to i just wanna rock' and I'm digg'n it! Sounds like a little "Whole lotta rosie" AC/DC vibe in there, some SatchFramptone AND Satch shred! YES!!!!!!. I'll be interested in hearing about the singers on the i just wanna rock chorus. If the rest of the album is this cool its gonna be one hell of a ride!
Cool idea with the podcast updates too!

Satriella - Thanks for thinking of me. I pop in once in a while. Been really busy. Just not as much time to hang on the computer. I am putting together an original band. Hopefully, things will progress soon.
