OK, this post is for all of you RUSH fans who may or may not have seen these before, VERY funny stuff (quite candid too!) I know you're going to enjoy these videos, if you're not from Canada you're probably unaware that anything like this even existed.

Tobogganing with Geddy Lee! (click the play video link)

Neil Peart drum lesson!

Enjoy!

Hi Joe - Congrats on the new album! Some very nice tunes there. I have a question for you : On the song "WHY" , are you using a harmonizer there on the 3 guitar harmonies or is that just tracks? If so, what type of harmonizer is it? Have you ever tried the Digitech DHP-55? What do you think about Eventide's stuff? Thanks joe! I wish you and your family the very best this year! Happy touring!! - Jesse

Well, I've officially bought this album twice, thanks to the greed of Sony Music (I'm sure Joe had no choice in the matter). As usual with this latest trend of record companies releasing different versions of albums at different stores, it's only the devoted die-hard fans who get screwed. Casual fans who see one version or another with slightly different songs will just buy one and won't care that they are missing a few from the other version. Only the die-hards like us will buy albums multiple times just to get one extra song.

I bought the CD/DVD combo from Skyroo (Sony) to get the bonus DVD. Cool. Then this morning I found out that the 11th song Joe talked about in some interview is actually available on iTunes. I was hoping he'd do it as an iTunes single, like Tumble from the Is There Love In Space? sessions. An extra buck for a rare extra track is totally cool. But this time, the extra song, Ghosts, from Satchafunkilus is listed as album-only. You have to buy the whole album to get that one track. Of course it's intentional, to squeeze more money out of the suckers who'll pay it.

I don't really mind paying 10 bucks for an extra song from Joe - his music is worth it, and I'll get more than $10 of enjoyment out of it. Or if they offered a version with all the bonus material (extra track and bonus DVD) for $30, I'd gladly pay it, and I wouldn't feel like a sucker at all. I just hate the fact that the greedy record companies are trying to be tricky and end up screwing only the loyal, die-hard fans with these tactics. Of course this isn't as bad as some albums I've seen lately (*cough* Def Leppard *cough*), where they had different track listings at Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and iTunes. I'm sure some people bought those 4 times!

Enough complaining, I didn't mean to write that much, lol. It's all about the music in the end, and with that aspect I'm totally excited. I'm off to listen to the full album for the first time, woohoo!

Professor Satchafunkilus arrived yesterday, and like waking up on Christmas morning there it was waiting for me when I got back in the door from work.

Wow.

It's up there with Super Colossal and Crystal Planet, in that special place of spectacular. I absolutely love Revelation. Such an amazing opening, and a beautiful chord progression.

The hat is tipped.

I'm listening to PSATMOR for the second time right now...I love it.

I'll write up another review like I've done in the past...would people here prefer one huge review from me like I did with ITLIS?, or a one-song-per-day review like I did with SBM?

Crystal Jammer - I think Joe is joking around a bit, but he said a similar thing about Matt around the time SC was released. Maybe Matt doesn't want to be away from his family for the length of a tour or something, which is more than fine.
canchito - I think Test For Echo is a great Rush album...actually, all of their albums are great, haha. I remember hearing the title track on the radio back when it was released. That was really cool...I was aware of Rush as some huge band at that point, but I didn't know too much about them. I enjoyed the song, but it was still another five years or so before I would become a big fan.

Anyway, yeah, Test For Echo is a very solid album.

Phydeaux_3 - The one bud looks nice, haha. It's such a simple thing but I figured no one had come up with one. I have no use for it, but I've always wondered if one was out there somewhere. I guess now I know.

And I've seen that Geddy Lee video before...thanks for posting it again though, i'ts pretty funny.

D_O_M - Dave was never intended to be more than a temporary replacement. He gigs with John Petrucci for G3 stuff, but his more permanent commitment is to Steve Morse / the Dixie Dregs.
Igneousiceman - Yeah I still love Snakes & Arrows...the tempo thing just bugs me a bit. ;-) Personally, my favorite song on it is Bravest Face. I love those lyrics... I have tickets to see the band again in May; it'd be nice to hear that song this time around.

I'm really happy with the album overall...it's very strong for a band with as long of a career as Rush's...

...Austin...

Thank you Jesus for keeping my baby safe!
