Favorites off the new Cd:All Of Them!I've listened to it about a dozen time since midnight and I love it.The best way to listen to Satch IMO is through a killer set of headphones. You hear so much more of what is going on in a song than you do just casually listening.Oh yea and LOUD!!

New stuff if really good. Having listened to the podcasts for the last 10 days, I was wanting to hear how some of these songs played out. So far, I'm not disappointed.
Got the iTunes download, so I hooked into the extra song, "Ghosts". I like it a lot. In fact, the last three tracks - Asik Veysel (spelled correctly!), Andalusia and Ghosts - are mind-blowing in succession.
Great work, as always, Joe. I'm already looking forward to the next release!

Extra track!?!? >.< Nuts, I got the store version and it doesn't have an extra track :(. Still, not disappointing in the least. The end of the album is really getting addictive.

Rock's Newest Professor To Launch G3 Tour With Smartest Lineup Yet
(SAN FRANCISCO) -- Fresh off the release of his latest album, Professor Satchifunkilus and the Musterion of Rock, instrumental guitarist Joe Satriani has announced plans for his next G3 tour.
Joining Professor Satriani on guitar for the almost annual guitar mini-festival will be longtime G3 participant Steve Vai, who was awarded an honorary doctorate of music by Berklee College of Music in 2000, and former Queen guitarist Brian May, who last year completed his Ph.D. thesis at Imperial College London.
"I've made a lot of stupid decisions over the course of my career," said Satriani, who has played guitar for Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger on his 1998 solo tour and filled in for Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore for a series of shows in 1993. "I figured it was about time for me to do something smart. I don't have the academic credentials that the other guitarists on this tour have, but with the name of my new record I think I'll fit in fine."
This latest incarnation of the G3 tour, scheduled for summer 2008, is not the first time Satriani, Vai and May have crossed paths. The three guitarists appeared on different tracks on The Yardbirds' 2003 album Birdland, released on Vai's Favored Nations record label. The guitarists look forward to performing together this time.
"I've always been a fan of Joe Satriani's music," May said. "Beginning with his earliest records, Not Of This Earth and Surfing With The Alien, and continuing to his newer discs such as Is There Love In Space?, astronomy and science fiction has always been a part of his music. And that's not too far off from my line of study."
May's 2007 Ph.D. thesis is titled A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud.
The guitarists have been on stage together once before, at a 1992 concert in Sevilla, Spain, so the trademark G3 jam won't be new to them. But to keep things interesting, Satriani will include a fourth band on the G3 tour as an opening act at select shows. In sticking with the tour's theme, Satriani has chosen the band Einstein, a side project of former collaborator Jonathan Mover. The tour traditionally doesn't feature an opening act, but one has been included occasionally, going back to the first G3 tour when Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened up for Satriani, Vai, and Eric Johnson.
The tour will include dates in 35 cities across North America in August and September. More information will be posted at satriani.com and g3tour.com as it becomes available.

from AMG
With the good comes the bad, and at the album's most embarrassing moment, "I Just Wanna Rock" advertises cornball clichés with a proudly clanked cowbell, a talkbox Frampton-izing, and a boisterous crowd chant-along. This is a new low for Joe -- practically an open letter admitting that he's OK with the idea of becoming passé. At a time when his former pupil Steve Vai is experimenting with radical orchestral arrangements, it would be nice to see the professor branch even further away from his trademark style, ditch the '80s production, and try something more unconventional, but for the most part he's doing what he does best here, and fans will be content with that

Joe...your new album is brilliant!!! A fan since the 80's I love them all, yet OMG PS and the M of R is mind blowing. Not just in versatility but every aspect of why we all want to play the instrument in the first place you covered in this work of art. Andalusia is simply over the top awesome, and if you do not get a grammy out of this album...well I will cover myself in aluminum foil for a year in protest;)...
The brain tumor survivor in Chicago is now more of a fan which I do not think was possible, but it is, you have topped yourself!!!

allmusic.com's album review is F-ING RETARDED...by the way. To the writer of this article, Jason Lymangrover: Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Unfortunately yours happens to be really shitty. Take the Back Street Boys cassette out of your car and show some respect to an incredible musician.

D'oh! My "mystery" has been solved.. that whole weird sound thing in I Just Wanna Rock turned out to be my headphone jack had slipped out a little. My radio reception was really odd today & I took a look at the connector and voila! I just clicked it all the way home and everything sounds much better now, AND nothing "weird" in that song at all. Wish I'd checked that 2 days ago! LOL!!!
Thanks for the G3 info... superb!
smooches,

Hey Joe;
Thanks for making Natick, MA the first stop on your Guitar Center Session min-tour. It was a great time and I hope that you enjoyed that pic that I took during the 1990 “Flying in a Blue Dream” CD signing!
-----
For those who were thinking about going but are on the fence, let me say that it is well worth the time. Leave early. I got there 2 hours early and still had to stand. I talked with the guys in the store and they told me that people were there when the store opened.
Joe was great! He did a set of 6 songs which included..
Musterion, Overdriver, Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat, Flying in a Blue Dream, Always With Me Always with You and Satch Boogie.
He then answered some questions from the store manager and then 4 random questions from the audience. He signed autographs and posed for pictures for almost 2 hours afterwards, smiling the whole time.
So just go. You’ll be happy you did!
And thanks again Joe!

Ghost is apparently an iTunes exclusive song...it's not on the cd/dvd set. I guess right now the only way to get it is to buy the whole Satchyfunky album from iTunes....but maybe someday they'll let us buy it as a single like they did Dog With Crown and Earring, and Tumble......I hope.
Finished the whole album Joe...it's wonderful....time for a hot bath and then the dvd...hope you had fun at Guitar Center tonight....and 2mo you'll be doing double duty, wow! GC in NY, and get finished in time to hit Rockline by 11ish your time in NY....hope you can get enough sleeps Joe =/

I'm heading over to Guitar Center tomorrow night in NYC. I'm hoping that getting there by 5-5:30 is not going to be too late.
Looking forward to meeting you again, and can't wait to see the new stuff live. I'll be the guy with the keyboard :-)
Have the new CD in the player as we speak. Some really cool new stuff Joe...always an inspiration
