I Have 3 live Videos of you and 3 G3 concerts. You are right there in that Paul Gilbert choice. He is way more than just a shredder from back in the day. I have all the Racer X cds and a live one from them. I think the top 4 of them goes in this order for me. The Guitarist with the coolest smile was Eddie Van Halen. My first inspiration Tapsman is his nickname. I then heard all about the blond tonesmith with coolest hairdo of all Randall William Rhoads. Two totally different styles I must say. Then I heard of this giant Passionate guitarist name of Steve Vai. I Saw Yngwie before I bought any Steve Vai cds. A million notes a minute with beautiful melodies. Then I heard of you. I think you are the top sir. I saw you once at the CAINS' Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I even knew about STU STU back then. Tracks 1,4,5 and 9 are so incredible sir. Your newest cd is so great Professor Satchafunkalis. C-Ya

Hey Joe , thanks for another very cool record , some very heavy tunes on it. See you in Clackamas.

Do the stu , Howdy , I've got my tickets for RUSH , 2 nights in a row... whohoo!!! Also scored front row tickets for RETURN TO FOREVER , are you a fan of them ? I never thought I would get to see Al , Stanley , Lenny and Chick play together.

Cheese , how are you ? Sounds like rockline was fun. See you soon.

just got back from the joe session at the guitar center in plymouth meeting(philly) waitied 5 hours out in the cold but it was so worth it got to sit 5 feet from the man himself 1st row i and my roommate were 2nd and 3rd in line there was a guy john in front of me who was there since 11 am which when we got let into the store was 530 pm lol satch played 6 songs ,musterion,overdriver,diddle-y-a-doo-dat,flying in a blue dream, always with you always with me and satch boogie, then he talked for a bit about g3`s of the past and teaching ,his equipment then management asked him 4 questions about the current album, the audience were supposed to be able to ask questions but it got cut out . My roommate and I both got to meet him share a few words get a pic with him and say our thanks ,there were 200 seats and i`d estimate another 200 people standing ,they did not allow any photography during his performance ...it was totally worth it went in at 530 left at 730 and i was almost 1st in line to get my pic and autograph ,there were so many fun moments and there were guys filming so maybe it will end up in a podcast ..if you read this joe i was the large bald guy in the front row wearing a steelers shirt ,I believe I read jeff likes them or somebody in the band does and probably catches flack for it lol thanks again satrianiland !

Hi Joe, nice to "meet" you.

I am lazermario (DUH!) the guy who called in on Rockline and asked how many guitars are on the new album Wednesday night. My real name is Cainan... from Burnsville, North Carolina. Kinda funny how it all worked out: I called in right at the start of the show and was put on hold (normal so far, right?). Then I'm told "your up soon" (still cool). NOW! Here's where it gets kind of funny: Bob "Cainan from Burnsville NC" so I think "ah, I'm on!" and start talking...

Imagine my surprise when somebody else starts talking to you too! :D :D :D

BTW: my apologies to the guy who was announced as me on Rockline... I had no control over that, heh.

To continue: I'm holding 'till the next break and then told "Ah MAN I'm sorry, we [messed] that up." Me: "HAHA, no problem man" Calltaker: "Uh, ok. We're still gonna put you on, but can you use a different name?" Me: "ummm, I guess so--lazermario, my screenname; but what if he asks my real name? What will I say?" Calltaker: "Heh, yeah, kinda putting you in a tough spot." Me: "Hey, I'll just tell him I'll explain on the website later, ok?" Calltaker: "That'd be great, thanks bro" ... etc

So yeah, nice to get to talk to ya Joe. Although I was interested in the number of guitars on the new album I had a different question originally, but they said I needed to change it to something more generic. I know this is a long introduction Joe, sorry. I'm pressed for time atm, but I'll catch up with you next week--I'm going to Winston Salem in less than 12 hours. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read all this, and I hope the GC sessions are going very well.

Talk soon, Cainan (lazermario) lazermario@hotmail.com

P.S. To Joe and anyone else who responds to me, please include my nickname --> lazermario in the reply. Many thanks.

Hi Joe,

I met you last night in NYC, and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to play a music store, answer fan questions, sign autographs for hours, and for me, making a dream come true by signing my keyboard. (i was the guy lugging around the keyboard)

Looking foward to meeting you again if you end up touring in NJ.

PS - Sorry I snapped the picture just as the person next to you said not to.

Hello to all of you nice people. I'm new here. I am wondering if anybody could please inform me how to purchase a ticket to Joe's show in Sydney. I'm currently living in Indonesia (where Bali is), so I am having difficulties to do it, considering that credit card from my country would certainly be rejected. Thank you, look forward to hearing from anyone.

Do The Stu - I recieved the letter from Joe back in 1990, it was stamped by the post office in Oakland, CA. I was really stoked to get something handwritten, Joe also sent me two of his picks in the envelope.

Delfino Pie - nice to see you back on the forum, I've been exploring other sites myself, but the new album really brought me back here to post, I've been so busy getting myguitar adventures together myself.

I got the special edition of the album in the mail today...it's cool to see that I made it onto the DVD (I was talking about Hill Of The Skull and Echo after the SWTA gig at the Roxy).

This is going to be a long post...

matt king - "sonic hitch-hike of a solo in musterion"

Wow...you know, I think that's the perfect way to describe that!

What's your favorite part? There's a lot of cool phrases that stand out, but I think the top one for me is the beginning (from about 1:36 to 1:46). In fact, the bit from 1:40 to 1:46 is my favorite lick on the record.

bluebuffalo - Time Machine is a good comparison, as far as the variety of the music is concerned. I was thinking more along the lines of Flying In A Blue Dream, but I think TM is actually a better fit.

I graduated college in May 2006, but I've worked for Long Beach's local newspaper, the Press-Telegram, since December 2005. About a month ago, my job moved to Torrance, and now I work as a copy editor for two papers...the P-T and Torrance's paper, the Daily Breeze.

I haven't done much writing for the paper...I'm more into the editing side of things, at least for right now. I did review the Long Beach Blues Festival last year, though...it was a two-day gig headlined by Buddy Guy and Little Richard. I don't think the articles are still available through the paper's website, but I'll ask around at work tomorrow and see if I can get 'em back up for everyone here...

Shane_Burgeo - Ah, the Revelation question...I remember now. That was a good one, and it's cool that we now know that Steve Morse was the "friend" Joe has mentioned in other interviews.

This song will mean something else to me now that I know that...I saw Steve Morse in concert on 1/19/07, the night before he flew back home to be with his dad before he died.

Anyway, back to your call...you may have been nervous but you sounded fine on the radio. Joe is such an easy guy to talk to...just wait 'til next time. ;-)

testas - The actual performance probably won't be more than 30 minutes or so. Then there's a meet and greet after that, which probably lasts a few hours.

You could maybe stay for the performance and then head to the airport to catch your flight, but I don't know. I've never been to Seattle, so I don't know what traffic is like there or how busy their airport is.

Crystal Jammer - Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'd love to hear a track-by-track breakdown of the record from your point of view. I plan on doing the same as soon as I get some free time.

I like this album A LOT, but at the same time I agree with most of your criticisms. I agree as well that Joe's solos were a bit different in the past. Speed Of Light is a great example...another one I'd go with is Why. I can still get into this album, though, even if it is a bit different. Instead of looking at it as a collection of songs, I look at it as a collection of moods. I don't know if that makes sense or not, but that's how I'd describe it right now...

Igneousiceman - This is a bit of a random question, but where'd you come up with your username? I meant to ask earlier but it slipped my mind.
Mahavishnu - A front row ticket for Return To Forever? Awesome! I'd love to see that band, but I'm not sure if I can get the day off for their L.A. show. I'll check my work schedule tomorrow.
lazermario - Hi...welcome to the site! Where/how did you first hear Satch's music? How long have you been a fan? Congrats on the Rockline thing as well. I really liked your question...
Satriella - I hope things work out for you...we're here if you need to talk...
erosfilosagape - I'd try calling one of the venues and explaining your situation to them.
OME - Cool...thanks for the info. It's nice to see you back here, too...
MartinWolf - Look for it at CD Universe.

...Austin...
