New REM CD
I got the new REM cd from iTunes - the deluxe edition. It is called Accelerate.
Not bad - some good rockers (finally).
Longest song is like 4:09.
Most songs in the 2 minute range.
Also - there is an instrumental on the deluxe version too - pretty good.

Zinc Master - Thanks for the Rush info. Assuming they do a different setlist this time around, it bugs me that they aren't releasing the CD and DVD at the same time.
By spreading them out, if they end up doing something really cool on this leg of the tour it'll go without being recorded... I think it would have been smarter to release the DVD now and wait to do the live CD until after both legs of the tour...they could pull from different shows from each tour leg and make a live album of rarities.
But I'm not in the band...maybe they have plans to record something from this leg as well.
And about their next studio album, I don't know if I expect that until early 2010. It took them a while this time around, and I know Neil likes his time off.
cheese101 - Argh...I'm sorry about that. So few people responded to that post; I figured most just glossed over it and didn't really care because they were so into the new album. That's why I let the gag sit for as long as it did. Maybe there was a better way to have done it... :-/
Please tell Chris I'm sorry for getting his hopes up.
mikesb - That's a good one...I'm sure that scared a lot of people, too. I wouldn't have believed it because I know Robert Plant is the one holding back the tour...Jason Bonham is actually the guy who's been pushing for more the most.
Good joke though...is that one you came up with, or did you get it from somewhere else? Classic Rock maybe?
Phydeaux_3 - I actually don't have any Alice Cooper albums...I need to change that. It'd be nice to see him live someday, too... Anyway, that's a cool story you have...enjoy the show!
Captain Steve - I've heard the "before noon" April Fool's restriction, but no one I ask can ever tell me just why it's there. Do you have any idea?
I have a feeling that it's a rule invented by people who were sick of having jokes played on them all day (parents sick of jokes from their kids, maybe). If that's the case, I'll continue to ignore the rule because it seems like a pointless restriction on the day...but if there's more of a reason behind it I may rethink my timing in the future.
chrimajon - Hi...welcome to the site! Tell us a bit about yourself...what other music are you into?
...Austin...

Hi Austin - thx for the welcome!
Well I'm 44,male,and been into rock music of some form all my life: if it's guitar based I'll probably like it!
Zep,Aerosmith,G n' R,Bonamassa,Hendrix,UFO,Nugent,Dick Dale..
Also been into Springsteen since the early 80's,and I love a lot of blues stuff - SRV,Buddy Guy,Albert King, etc.
Always got an eye out for odd albums of interest, too, stuff such as The Cult's 'Electric',Cadillac Hitmen's 'Assassin' and Cry Of Love's 'Brother'...all great and diverse albums!

Is the special edition cd/dvd only available at Guitar Center, or is it also in other stores? I didn't see it listed on Amazon, but I was going to run out to my local stores and see if they had it. Or will I have to wait to get it Sat at the Chicago GC session?
thanks.

wizard - hahahaaa... you're totally right.. I can't add up...
Gsus4 = G, C, D
jblaze - ah yes I remember that freq table.. I still use it myself.. what I did though was to set a very tight Q and sweep the freqs of each instrument to refine the values [essentially using that list as a rough guide / starting point].. I then went on to read up on a thing known as frequency masking [an effect where instruments that share similar characteristics get in each others way] and a technique called 'complimentary EQ' [which is the remedy].. this stuff helped me no end..
blue moon - the kick freq isn't the same for every kit.. my kick's fundamental freq is around 50Hz... this is why you have to freq sweep each instrument..
Matt - this is where we differ.. I'm not really into 'amp tone'..
I use Marshall power amps and cabs but not amps with a pre-amp.. my 2120's create my tone, the Marshall stuff just makes it big.. I guess you could say that I use the Marshall stuff like a guitar centric PA system.. lol..
Alexandre - cool vid bro... you is a nice player... not fun playing live over backing tracks is it... lol... it's so much more fun with a band...
very cool stuff bro..
Satrini - yup.. I get excited to... don't forget.. I'm fan just like you guys... lol...
the last band rehearsal was really nice... I hope we go out and play like that live... that'd be just awesome...

Do The Stu
If Rush does do something different this leg, maybe they would do another DVD, but unlikely though.
At least things are coming out regularly from Rush again.
