hey joe & satch fans! i just had a revelation.

i just moved to Israel from Chicago. yea. well i am so lucky that my next door neighbor is a really big Hendrix a SRV fan.ha

he was showing me stuff on U-tube and it dawned on me. why doesn't Joe play with some unknown guitarist? (G3)well, some people who are in the know in chicago know who Melvin Taylor is. He is also a big Hendrix fan who plays a fusion of jazz and blues. forget buckethead O.K.

check melvin out on the utube and tell me what you think. sorry no link. not into all that shiiit. well, hear the roosters crowing. must be gettin late.

Joe....

I have heard you say several times in the past that you don't think your acoustic playing is "up to par" or where you'd like it to be....and that in order to really get "good" on the acoustic you'd have to spend much time just playing that and set aside the electric guitar for awhile....

Well......

I just wanted to say to you, and this is my opinion, I'm no expert but my heart knows what it loves....

That you did a beautiful job on the acoustic opening of Andalusia...I can't imagine you improving on that, it was gorgeous. Bravo Joe....I would love to hear more acoustic from you in the future. Not for you to give up the electric for any length of time, as this is proof that you can play acoustic with soul and let beautiful music pour through your fingers no matter what type of guitar you're working on. You've already "got it" Joe....in my humble opinion of course. I know you need to feel comfortable with it.

I just wanted to tell you that Joe....to me you've already "arrived" acoustically and I'd love to hear more....well, I love just about anything you care to share :)

Hope rehearsals are going fantastically for everyone!! Maybe I'll get to see you in Ireland.

This one goes out to Zinc Master...

A Russian and a Newfoundland wrestler were set to square off for the Olympic Gold medal. Before the final match, the Newfie wrestler's trainer came to him and said, "Now, don't forget all the research we've done on this Russian. He's never lost a match because of this 'pretzel' hold he has. Whatever you do, do not let him get you in that hold! If he does, you're finished." The Newfie nodded in acknowledgment. As the match started, the Newfie and the Russian circled each other several times, looking for an opening. All of a sudden, the Russian lunged forward, grabbing the Newfie and wrapping him up in the dreaded pretzel hold. A sigh of disappointment arose from the crowd and the trainer buried his face in his hands, for he knew all was lost. He couldn't watch the inevitable happen. Suddenly, there was a scream, then a cheer from the crowd and the trainer raised his eyes just in time to watch the Russian go flying up in the air. His back hit the mat with a thud and the Newfoundlander collapsed on top of him making the pin and winning the match. The trainer was astounded. When he finally got his wrestler alone, He asked, "How did you ever get out of that hold? No one has ever done it before!" The wrestler answered "Well, I was ready to give up when he got me in that hold but at the last moment, I opened my eyes and saw this pair of testicles right in front of my face. I had nothing to lose so with my last ounce of strength I stretched out my neck and bit those babies just as hard as I could." So the trainer exclaimed, "That's what finished him off!" "Not really. You'd be amazed how strong you get when you bite your own nuts."

p.s. thanks for that IRS joke!

Right, so after learning that I cannot go to the Satch concert in Brisbane, I've decided to hit up the Sydney concert. I'm also planning to buy the premium tickets so I can see Joe before le show, and p'raps get him to sign my gat, that would just make my day.

So, I'm wondering, Has anyone on T2J brought in a pretty big item (such as a guitar) to one of his concerts and had it safely stored at the venue. I realise it's impossible to garuntee safe keeping of any item, but I'm just trying to figure things out, and any info/help would be great.

Cheers.

Satch Lessons?

I currently have the opportunity to take lessons online by one of the greats at the moment, and was hoping that Joe would consider something like this, because in my book he is definitely the master of all in the are of guitar...Maybe post a new lesson video every month, or a few a month, or whatever...share the knowledge, and pass it on Joe!!!

ROCK!!!

El Nicko.....first of all, buy your platinum ticket early...like now....to be sure you get one as there are only so many to be sold....

Then call the venue and ask them what could be done about storing your guitar for you. You will meet with Joe before the show so can easily carry it in there at that time....and usually they have you exit the venue for a bit before show time and line up outside near the entrance, then let you back in when doors officially open. Platinum peoples get to go in first. So maybe after you have your meet and greet with Joe and spend the hour with him before the show, and then have to go wait outside, you maybe could lock your guitar in the trunk of your car? Or at coat check....or possibly even the souvenir guy, if his area is really secure...

It is a worry though, isn't it....good luck, you're gonna love meeting Joe and seeing him play live!!!

Thanks, cheese101, your info was incredibly helpful. Unfortunately it appears that one can no longer buy premium tickets for the concert. Horribly disappointing as I was looking forward to shaking Joe's hand.

Oh, well, at least I'm going to the concert.

Like Cheese said ring the venue see if they have a cloak room most of the venues around usually do so ya should be right just dont lose the ticket they give ya or ya might have some trouble getting it out after the show :) :) :) I'll come and hold it for ya if you like :) :) :) :)

Well just got done listening to the album the past few days given it about a dozen goes i like it i love it cause it's satch but wouldn't say its his best effort and after a dozen listens now it's beyond me how the song Ghost was left off the album.

MUSTERION ; Has a great feel about it really brings back those memories of ITLIS great tune just dont agree with that being opening track doesn't have the fire in the belly like past albums track 1's ITLIS -Gnaahh ,Crystal Planet - Up in the sky and The Extremist - Friends etc .

OVERDRIVER ; Well this song kicks in and ya think yeah this is what this album should have started with has that feel ok in for some fun here really cool tune and has its own groove about it which sets it apart from Musterion which is why i think it should be the opening track.

I JUST WANNA ROCK ; I really enjoy this track yeah ok its not as technical as the stuff Joe can do but overall good fun song and for me one of my favs from the album i guess by impressions here not for everyone but its a love it or hate it song i guess.

PROFESSOR SATCHAFUNKILUS ; Not sure about this song at all this would be contender for replacing by the song GHOST i guess i just dont like it the only aspect of this that i do like is the fact if satch actually started playing it to me in the studio of his home i'd love it cause here i was hanging with satch and he would be rockin out playing some cool tune that listening to on a cd isnt so cool and it hurts me to say that cause being named Professor Satchafunkilus i really expected more.

REVELATION ; This song is also right up there at the top for me truly beautiful song has its moments of like hmmmm where did he just go LOL but then u come back and take control of the situation but overall nice tune has a real ten words feel to it.

COME ON BABY ; Lovely song and thankgod ZZ was walking past to say put that on ya CD's to reassure you that people would wanna hear that stuff cause really nice tune and deserves to be heard this would probably be one of the great tunes which would be an awesome G3 jam song great job Joe.

OUT OF THE SUNRISE ; This song has been probably one of the biggest growers on me at first listen was like yeah nice but now my god just has so much peace and harmony to it close your eyes and just drift away. really nice mellow tune.

DIDDLE Y-A- DOO -DAT ; Cool tune really is but just doesnt have the same feel for the album as the other tracks once again maybe this song could have also been looked at as being replaced by Ghost in saying that i dont mind it but its by know means in the fav's off the album.

ASIK VESEL ; Awesome tune it has that crushing day vibe of yeah lets kickbutt really good track nice and heavy sounds abit full on at times and seems like it is bit over done in the sense it feels to dragged out but good track overall.

ANDALUSIA ; What can i say here this would probably be the best song on the album the change from acoustic to electric is awesome and the tone you have is awesome love it this is just a plain out right kickbutt would also make an awesome opening tune for live shows this one is gonna become one off the great satch tunes with time.

All in all i love the album cause it is another piece of music that gives us satch fans an insight into his musical world but it just kinda seems allover the place one minute is like listening to a track that got left off ITLIS then to some quirky tunes that im sure are fun and great tunes but just dont fit well as a whole with this album ..

Hi Joe, My 4 year old son is Very excited about "the man with no hair" coming to Australia in July this year. Ever since he was 2 years old all he wants to listen to in the car is "Joe Satriani - the man with no hair" and his favourite DVD isn't Cars or Shrek - but Live in San Francisco. I explained that he couldn't go see you as it was for Adults only, so he asked me to write to you and ask you to come to his Kindergarten instead. He has a couple of guitars already and his favourite is a junior size red electric and I've sat through countless concerts where he is pretending to be you. He also told me that when he grows up, he'll be "the man with no hair" in Australia so you won't have to come here as often. Seriously, please advise if you are intending any open age or in store type appearances in Melbourne during your July Visit as it would make his year of he could meet his Hero. (Dad's a huge fan also - as you may have guessed). Many thanks, Mark

For those who may still want to buy the cd/dvd combo but don't live near a guitar center, CD Universe has it for sale here

El Nicko.....if you already have a show ticket to the concert in Sydey, go to the ROAD page of this site and scroll down, click on the PREM button next to your show, and you can buy an upgrade to your ticket and still do the platinum experience. You have to have a concert ticket already for this to help you, so if you do, hurry!! All is not lost yet!!

Ermmmmmmmm Cappy......here's the definition of a bot from the dictionary: the larva of a botfly; especially : one infesting the horse ;) Sooooo.....ummmm, I still like Cappy Steve better! But yeah, bots works too, lol.....
