g'day Joe,
what other guitars do you play? do you have any acoustic tracks that you are going to record in the future?
The show in India with Dave la rue was awesome.
Will see you at the Forum in Melbourne in July

hi joe whats up? im a really big fan of you and i want to ask you a question, what do you think about fusion music? i know its great but when i listen to guitarists like Guthrie Govan i kinda get bored, because they only play technichal stuff. I really love your style and "rock n roll" feeling and i would like to know what do you think about this. Greetings from Peru (Im looking forward to your visit to Peru)

Heeeyyy Joe!,
Just finished watching the bonus Satchafunkalis DVD. I must say, Ice 9 and Crushing Day had me absolutely floored! That's the best Ice 9 I've ever heard! The background on the solo for C Day was also amusing and the solo was face-melting!
Love the new album. I think this will be the one to get that damn Grammy!!! All the songs are brilliant, but I'm stuck at Andalusia. It just takes me to another level. Thank you for writing it. Btw, would you mind letting me in on what the hell pick/scrape technique you're doing around 6:10-6:12 on the track?! I think I have the gist of it, but I'm still not totally sure! It brought a smile to my face when I first heard it. :)
Keep rockin' Professor!!

I have been a Satch fanfor many years now. I also have collected most of his music that he has put out the market. The recording Joe did in San Francisco was one of my all time favorites. In addition, his latest CD entitled
"Professor Satchafunkilus" is not too bad, especially track 10 entitled "Andalusia." Man, I haven't heard Joe do a long wicked solo like that since one of his tracks on his CD entitled "flying in a blue dream." Satch is a Guitar-God !

I think this is one great cd. Satchafunk. I love to listen to this cd all the way through. This is a beautiful cd just like the Joe
Satriani cd. Home. Morrocan Sunset and track 10 and 6 are so impressive. You are the Jackie Chan of guitar. That very
definite skill level with the ability to write such beautifully simple melodies and just rip in the solos and smile so cool while you do it. Yngwie might have been a tough one to work with I've heard, but playing with others helps to bring out other qualities in your own playing.

Cheese: that '98 live version of Lights of Heaven is stunning! Thanks for the link.
Do The Stu: re my comment about Musterion's solo sounding "constructed" - I just meant that it sounds like more thought/practice went into it than some of the more improvised sounding solos on the album ie. it's less of a noodle job! :o) Maybe it was a single take that "happened" after playing through the changes lots of times and maybe it contains some interesting spontaneous stuff? I dunno, but it works for me.
Great set list by the way.
Zinc Master: very funny 'Disorder in the American Courts' post.
ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.
Priceless! :D

So, it appears that Satch is coming to NZ for a guitar festival.
Never thought NZ was that keen on Guitar orientated music.
So I ask (Joe, fans, anybody who has any info); will Joe be doing any workshops during this festival?
I know he won't be there for half the festival as he is performing in Brisbane during that time, but I would gladly go to the second half of the festival to witness a workshop by Joe, straight after watching his show in Sydney, haha!

ibanezguitars - Yeah, it's tough to imagine a setlist with no SWTA. I used to have Echo included, but I pulled it to make room for other stuff because I heard it at the SWTA gig in LA last year. Although now that I'm thinking about it, it would have been nice to keep it in there.
But to be honest, I left some of the songs out because I know Joe will play them regardless of what people "vote" for with their setlists. I leave out things like AWMAWY and FIABD to give a vote to less likely songs such as If or New Day.
Also, I'm fortunate to have seen Joe 18 times, but I've heard AWMAWY, Satch Boogie, and FIABD at every one of those shows (which include two in-store performances). I've heard Summer Song, Cool #9, Ice Nine at all but maybe three. I've heard Friends and The Extremist a lot as well.
Those are all good songs, yes, but I'd love to see some rarities in their place every once in a while.
And lastly, thanks for posting the Satriani / Jagger Red House video.
REVAN 2008 - Kasabian are an excellent band. I kinda discovered them by chance...I saw part of their set when they played the Street Scene festival in San Diego in 2005 because they were playing on the stage nearest to where I decided to take a break for dinner. Their rhythms remind me of Rush.
In response to your "first Satch song" question, I think it totally depends on the person. I'd generally go with an album...most likely The Extremist or Crystal Planet. I'd choose The Extremist for people who aren't familiar with guitar music, as the rockers are among Satch's most melodic and the ballads are some of Joe's best. Crystal Planet is great for rock fans (Up In The Sky, the title track, etc.), but starting off with that would scare away some other fans.
I'm not sure if Satch will ever release the NASCAR tracks. I'm not sure if he owns the rights to them, actually. I have MP3s of them somewhere...I need to dig them up.
Blue_Moon - I hadn't really noticed that note in Out Of The Sunrise before, but you're right...it's cool.
michelle - Yeah, it was really cool to see Rubina and Z.Z. in the DVD.
maritime - WOW...thanks for digging up that old Stu Hamm gear interview. It's from 2000 though, not 1998. I had that saved like three computers ago, but I've lost track of it. I love the piece of Madonna's Like A Virgin that he does there...haha.
cheese101 - Thanks for posting that Satch video. It sounds great, and it's also one of the best examples I've seen of the Stu "dance" that my username references.
It's a great song...I remember hearing it on the radio (!) as a single back when I was first getting into Satch. The only songs I knew at that point were the ones on the G3 CD (which I had bought because of Eric Johnson), and then I heard that on the radio.
joseche - If the dates are posted on satriani.com they're confirmed.
loll - OK, thanks for the clarification.
...Austin...
