Afternoon all.....
Just thought I'd put forward that wonderful issue of pick thickness. I've bin thinking; I use a 0.46mm pick, my other half in the band uses 2.00mm, and I think Joe uses thick ones as well. What's the point I hear you ask?! Well, I am just wondering what other guitarists think on this subject, as pick thickness can have a very dramatic affect on playing. ANybody bored enough to reply? What pick thickness do you use? (I can only get away with this on a musicey forum....)
By the way, yes I do have a life =)

Oh yeah, bevi2goss, there are a number of ways to meet Joe, first of all you could break into his hotel room (joke). If you are attending one of the shows then under 'all options' click 'edit show attendance' and follow instructions....you could win a pass or something. I try holding my breath for long periods of time, but he's never come to my house.......=D

Sorry for being quiet for a bit...I've had a busy few days.

Is anyone here a fan of Dredg? I saw them in concert on Tuesday...very excellent. They're kind of a cross between Rush and U2.

van_b - Yeah, the North American tour will probably be after the South American tour (with a week or so in between for a break, I bet).

Sugnet - If I had to guess, that's probably Jonathan Mover's drum solo from the Time Machine live disc that you heard.
michelle - This is a few days old now, but click here to read your I Believe (In Ice Cream) lyrics from way back when.

The above link is from another time you asked the same question...I dug them up and reformatted them for the new T2J, I guess. You had originally posted them on the old T2J, here, and as it turned out all of the 9/11 stuff ended up being on the same page.

Man, the world was different back then...

Igneousiceman - "No tickets are currently available" is Ticketmaster-speak for "sold out"...pretty lame, huh?

Don't give up just yet, though...your best bet would be to start calling the venue every day beginning about 4 days before the show. Sometimes more tickets become available at the last minute.

Are tickets still available for any of the other UK shows? Maybe you can take a bit of a road trip?

amp236 - I don't think any of the G3 shows with Paul Gilbert were professionally recorded.

...Austin...

Igneousiceman:Its a good Q, the difference in not just pick width but also the brand name makes a huge difference, Jim Dunlop picks with Diaddario strings t my ears sound better, for me they are t elec guitar what hand nails & Martin strings are t steel string acoustics

Pick guage low t silly, just 3 at mo 0.38 for soft or delicate sounds, gives a good crisp even attack on the notes t simple passages & great for acoustic strummy stuff aka Pink Floyd Wish you Were Here.I,ve done a lot of experimenting with this guage between the bridge & neck pickups.Adding quick triplets is a scoosh, better yet it doesn’t need compressed much either recording or in a live mix

1.5mm nice tone for Al di meola muted acoustic alternate picking passages, 2mm gets a bit muddy on acoustic for my taste

My new mental picky poop for all things slan... 5 picks super glued & melted together cut at a 45 degree angle pointing ground t up, 4 times 3mm Big Stubbys with a 1,5mm sandwiched between em, a personal idea,

Right hand Nails for serious classical/flamenco acoustic playin, alcohol is out bar a glass o red wine middle o day or night...its a Nail killer!! people have tried t overcome this with calloused fingertips over the centurys but the only way t really play is superclean living, it’s a diet that takes some swallowing if yer a beer lover like me Happy pickin bro n btw

my space

Mama M: rest yer tired bones a bit hon Neil Young is on it 2

i do believe ya posted me this a while ago right back at ya darlin

Ahhh, nice one slan! When I hear songs from After The Gold Rush, man, they go straight to my heart. Impeach Bush - where do I sign up?

Anybody know if those youtube vids of that show (Neil in the brown jacket) are on video? I'd love to have it.

Austin, yep, I Believe (In Ice Cream) is just as bad as I remember it. lol! Thanks. That 9/11 page makes my stomach turn. What horrible memories from a horrible time.

Philthemetalhead, I had to watch that R. Williams video about 4 times when I rented it before I heard the whole thing. I was laughing so hard I kept missing parts. lol! Great stuff!

T-Bones, were you at?

edit: hey Chee - Mike Keneally wrote a lovely song fer you called CHEE. lol!
