Cheese - surely McKenna isn't really scared? He loves the ladies I thought.... he'd look after you really cos all T2J'ers are nice like that! Actually having read some posts (from Cubazoid for example), maybe Mr McKenna isn't so much into the ladies lol I hope you get to go to the shows, you know it'll be awesome
Slanshroom - 2 questions for you... 1, am I losing the plot or have your tunes disappeared from myspace? I have a listen from time to time (followed by sulking because I wish I could play like that....) but can't get them at the mo 2, have you been to Andalusia? Dream3 - I love the currency conversion when it comes to a trip down under.... works great for me ; ) but my aussie friends do say how much it sucks. I think it's just a tax we put on you because you have such a lovely country and climate - and we have rain LOL
Joe Satriani - hi Joe, I've just spotted a cool riff on Andalusia that (for me) first appeared on the Satch tapes. Have you been saving that riff for the right moment, or is Andalusia (or a previous version of it) something you've been working on for some time, perhaps even around or before the time the Satch tapes was recorded (rather like Come on Baby and Banana Mango/II were a long time evolving)?

I agree. My spirit is touched by Joe's music rather than his proficiency with the instrument. That's why, for instance, I prefer Joe to Vai. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Joe isn't an excelent guitarist, or Vai's music is bullshit

A really funny one, to me anyways...
Heaven was becoming overpopulated, so to reduce admission, the individual entering has to tell the angel at the Pearly Gates how bad his/her day was the day he/she died.
Not even a second later, up crawls a man to the Gates. The angel there asks him about his day, so he tells her.
"Well, I had been suspicious that my wife had been having an affair with some old flame, so I planned to come home early to see if I could catch her red...whatevered. I get to my apartment and start searching, but find nothing. Then I go to my balcony, when I look over to the neighboring balcony and there he is over the ledge trying to escape! I run over and stomp on his fingers and he falls into a bush. Figuring he wasn't dead yet, I took a refrigerator and threw it over, not noticing that the cord was wrapping my ankle. So I fell, and here I am."
"Sounds terrible" says the angel, and lets the man in. Then a second man walks to the Gates.
After the required prompt to do so, the man proceeds to tell of his day.
"I was doing some exercises on my balcony, when I get a little carried away and flung myself over the ledge. I'm hanging for dear life when this psycho-maniac stomps on my hands! I tumble into a bush, when a refrigerator comes hurtling towards me, and here I am."
"That's horrible!' says the angel, and lets the man in. Then a third man came.
"O.K., picture this...I'm naked in a refrigerator..."

This is the story of how my dream gently died. I'm 45. I think I'm talented, but I guess not enough to make it in the music business. I do know that I love performing, whether it's playing music or in the other arts.
After graduating high school, I didn't play guitar for 12 hours a day; I joined the Air Force, then worked a succession of jobs in corporate America that continues to this day.
I often wonder where I'd be if I pursued my dream. Would I be regionally or even nationally known? More likely I'd be playing clubs around the city, but at least I'd be doing what I loved.
Don't get me wrong. I have a beautiful family who I adore, a reasonably good career, and I can afford most all the toys I want for the music room.
Ah, but the death of my dream, you ask? Five years ago, after goofing around for 25 years, I got serious about composing and performing. A year ago, I played a couple clubs for the first time, and had an okay turnout. My one gig this year, five people showed, and three of them were family!
Yeah, I played hard and gave them a good show, but still ... all the people I emailed, you know, the ones that used to keep asking me when my next gig was, none of them showed. None of the half-dozen newspaper music editors or their flunkies who I sent press kits to showed.
I used to give out my website, but why bother? Seriously, nobody cares! It's a funny catch-22: you either make it BIG or you disappear. Good thing I have a day job! :-)
I can't imagine how Joe began. I couldn't see someone of his talent ever being ignored or turned away. I guess the world really is for the young, or those who are no longer young but have already made their mark.
If that's you and you're facing your future, follow your heart. No one looks back at their life and wishes they spent more time at the office.

BTW, I saw Joe at one of the Guitar Center sessions. I didn't know what to expect -- what I found is that he's just an incredibly down-to-earth, genuinely nice guy.
Hey Joe, sorry for gripping your hand so hard when we shook hands! I was pretty excited. Even if you never check out my material, I'd still be honored if my business card was tossed into your recycle bin :-)

Dave DC....touching story. If guitar playing makes u happy, u can still play and who knows what might happen. My son plays hours a day, loves it to pieces, is pretty decent at it...and he's also autistic so chances of him ever being able to actually perform like he'd love to are slim. But it doesn't stop him from loving to play....and collecting the "toys" fer pete's sake! Good luck with it! And yeppers, Joe is the best human bean out there!
Joe Satrini....why yes, Mckenna is actually skerred of me coming there, so I shall try my hardest not to traumatize him if at all possible. =/ OH, and what you said about the riff in Andalusia being on the Satch tapes....my son and I noticed that too, and Chris got to ask Joe about that very thing on Rockline last week....Joe gave a great answer...if you have time, u should go listen to the replay of that show! And on the AWM, AWY video, Joe has said before that the lady in it was a good friend of theirs...Stu Hamm on bass....Jeffy C on "percussion" as you said...
I booked a hotel tonight....downtown Dublin, I have no idea what I'm doing ffs....if I can bring myself to actually go, I leave on May 21st....and u may never hear from me again. Oh and slansh....I'm sure there are nice Irish lads there...but I only wanted my Joe, my heart can't imagine anyone else. But thanks for the thought.

loll...you mean that if I already bought the album on iTunes I can get Ghosts, or it's just an easy single-buy?
I just bought the single track. I wasn't forced to purchase the whole album (again!); if you have already purchased the album from iTunes, seems you can just buy the one extra track for 79p (99˘).
