Hi Joe and fans

'Just like to add my bit of praise for you and enlighten everybody to the best guitar lesson I ever had from Rick Sandford (former UFO player).

He said to me "Most people who comes to be taught want to have a magical hand touch their shoulders and make them a guitar god."

Then he asked "do you know why people like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Mike Stern are such good guitar players?"

The answer:- "Because they want to be so much and work every moment to achieve it".

That was the last guitar lesson I ever had.

:-)

A few people here have shared what their least favorite Satch song is, so why don't we all 'fess up...?

One of my least favorites might be a bit of a shock: Cool #9. I love the improv intro when it's played live, but the proper "song" just doesn't do much for me. I think part of the reason is that my favorite version of the song is from the first G3 album. My favorite guitar line in the song is from that version, but he doesn't play it that way any longer. It's the whammy pedal bit from 2:13-2:23 on the studio version, although it's a bit different on the G3 album (I can't tell you what time it is there because that album is out in my car at the moment).

Joe Satrini - Yes, my setlist is in order, sorta. The first 16 songs would be the first set and the next 13 would be the second set. Then there's 2 songs for the first encore and 1 song for the second encore. I know it's a bit flawed (the second set should probably be a bit longer, and on top of that Joe would die if he had to play 32 songs every night), but I work with what I'm given. ;-)

Anyway, to get to your question... Yeah, the placing of Not Of This Earth and Musterion was conscious. I see Musterions as a modern-day NOTE, and I think it'd be cool for Joe to open with one of his oldest songs and follow it with one of his newest.

I make a distinction between favorite Satch album and best Satch album. Is There Love In Space? is my favorite, the one I personally like the most, but I think Crystal Planet is the best, contains the strongest examples of what Joe is and can do. PSATMOR is #3 behind these two albums, but it hasn't been out long enough for me to know if it'll overtake either of them.

What about you?

REVAN 2008 - You don't like I Believe, really? Why is that, if I may ask? I'd say that song is high on the list of favorites for most T2Jers.
cheese101 - Thanks for digging up those videos. Joe is REALLY abusing his guitar in the first OOTS clip...that's very good to see. :-) I'm glad there are little improv moments here and there in the song...I can really see this one turning into a Cool #9-type live jam, I hope Joe plays it enough so something like that can develop.

Thanks for sharing the newest Stuuu video, by the way.

michelle - Welcome back! I live by the ocean so I take a walk along the shore every now and then, but I haven't done a proper beach day (swimming, sand castles, sun, and all that stuff) in about a year. I really miss that stuff...man, I'm such a kid. ;-)
dream3 - I remember Joe saying somewhere (Rockline?) that they were hoping to film a show on this European tour. Paris sticks out in my mind as being the place, but I'm not completely sure. I'm also not sure if having Stu in the band instead of Brad has changed those plans.
Isla - Hi...welcome to the site! :-) What's your favorite Satch album? What are some of your favorite songs?

...Austin...

dongonrocky: where were you in the theatre? Close to front, side, balcony? Usually the sound suffers somewhere due to pretty poor hall design. Most custom built theatres are better than places like the NEC & Wembley Arena though. It really sucks when the sound is poor where you are sitting. I'm going to be in 6th row back in the middle @ the Cardiff gig. Really hope the sound will be good there but sometimes the sound at the front is swamped with bass - at least it was at the two Rush gigs I attended at Wembley and the NEC last year. I was in the 2nd row for one of the shows and 4th row for the other. At least the view was good and I sang my little heart out all evening.

On the subject of least favourite Joe songs I would have to say that IJWR now tops the bill for me! Sorry, just too cheesy for my taste. Jacob's Crackers anyone?

I vowed that I would never listen to Woodstock Jam again after the first listening when TIme Machine came out. I can never get those 12 minutes (or whatever) of my life back again! :o) Amazingly, the 'tune' is still indelibly stamped in my brain; it's a veritable earworm!

I'm also pretty unfond (sic) of Super Colossal (the title track) which I affectionately call Super Colostomy! Again a bit too cheesy for my liking.

As far as effects go, I'm not a big fan of the Digitech whammy pedal although I think Joe uses it quite tastefully. Maybe that's the problem with Cool #9?

Least favourite studio album to date is, sadly, PSATMOR. The drum machine beats on EOC took their toll on me too (so much so that I rarely give EOC a spin these days). However, I do really like a few songs from each of these albums: Revelation is fast becoming a fave and Until We Say Goodbye is just a beauty. I prefer the live versions of songs from EOC. Maybe the live versions of songs from PSATMOR will win me over? Roll on Monday night...

Good job I didn't write about the songs I like/love/adore! I'd have been typing all night.

Hi Joe. I am finally catching up with the times because I saw my first two podcasts the other day and they were of you. Way cool!!!!! I am looking forward to seeing you for the fourth time when you come back to Rock Adelaide again but unfortunatly I won't be able to afford to meet you again. I met you last time you were here, I was the one with the blue in her hair and had the Joe Satriani T-shirt on that had been modified with beads in it and you signed it. lol I bought my ticket pre-sake and there is no way I would miss out on seeing you a brilliant talented master of the guitar. Wishing you safe happy rocking travels. From Mara. P.S.- I posted a couple of your pics I have taken of you on my Myspace page.
