Sounds like no matter where you live, gas or petrol prices are so ridiculous, and there seems to be no end in sight to what they decide to charge us. It makes no sense to me at all why prices are so high, except that somehow a cap needs to be put on how much they can charge. Could someone take care of that pretty please?

achoo, I'm still alive....great pics, especially the ones with Joe, you both look really good and happy! Damn yer hair is long now, LOL!!

Funkilus14, there have always been tab books that eventually come out for each album....keep your eyes open around November or December for the PSATMOR book :)

Oh wait, it sounds like you had time to get away, thank goodness....ooo and Joe plays near or in Dallas sometimes, you'll hafta keep yer eyes on the road page here for dates. The webmaster said they are finalizing the details for the fall tour now, so hopefully in the next month or two we'll get to hear something :)

Mckenna, I'm so glad I dint try to drive anywhere in Ireland, talk about a train wreck, LOL.....I'da never, ever made it. What I saw of the country on the bus ride from Dublin to Belfast, it was so pretty. Wish I'd gotten a chance to make it to the coast too though.

*AAAAAAAAACHOOOOOOOOO*....scuze me, my head just blew off.............

Michelle - Where did you get that video of Steve Miller and Satch? That was an awesome little jam!

Chesse - yea, I was at least 15 miles away when it blew through. I am very grateful for the strom chasers in oklahoma. They are worth their salt that's for sure. I can't wait for the US leg to get released. This has to be the year I see the Satch!!

So, I just read that Satch released an EP in 1984 before being signed to Relativity (and then Epic), which featured a lot of the songs that were re-recorded for 1993's Time Machine. But there's one song that I don't think he's re-recorded, at least not on any studio albums. It sounds rather good, and I think Satch could work his magic and spruce it up for us!

Le song's called "Talk To Me", here's the link http://roo.emu.id.au/Satch/sounds/TalkToMe.aiff

Here's le wiki page; quite some cool infor such as Satchy tapping le pickups for le drums. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Joe_Satriani_EP

Also, it reminds quite a bit of Iron Maiden, haha!

O.K. I can't seem to find the questions I ask so I'm going to ask again, I'm not even sure if I posted it or forgot to hit post lol.

I was wondering, Joe, have you or is your music at all influenced by drugs? And are you planning on going to the Gorge at George, WA or the Spokane Arena(better for me, I'm a lot closer) in any U.S. tours? It would rock to see you live, man.

Peace

To bring the gas prices conversation back around to Satch, I figured I'd post this photo of me and him at last year's G3 LA aftershow. His jacket covers his shirt a bit, but it says "fuel" on top and "wallet" on bottom. I guess you can figure out the rest. ;-)

hybes - The most common thing I've heard about Van Halen on tour recently (both this current tour and the one with Sammy Hagar in 2004) was that Eddie is SO hit and miss. I think that's really sad...there are so many fans out there who have waited years and years to see Van Halen. They finally get their one show and then they have to hope Eddie didn't drink to much ahead of time. That's so unprofessional, selfish, and insulting to the fans.

I saw Van Halen with Sammy in Sacramento in 2004. Eddie was ON and it was an excellent show. I'm glad that I have that awesome memory, but it sucks that other people weren't so lucky.

cheese101 - Thanks for sharing your Out Of The Sunrise video. The sound quality is rough, yeah, but I can hear enough of what the band is doing with it. I love Joe's whammy (ab)use throughout the song.

Thanks for the photos, too. :-)

Igneousiceman - Rush In Rio is the album that REALLY hooked me on the band. I think this CD/DVD was the second I purchased (2112 would've been the first, just a few months prior). Aside from the songs I already recognized from the radio, some of the ones that I liked most were Distant Early Warning, New World Man, YYZ and Bravado. I still remember the moment where it all clicked in my head: it was in Roll The Bones...the music in the chorus and then the guitar solo. I know that isn't a favorite among die-hard Rush fans (it's no longer one of my top songs, either), but it's what got me.

To comment on the songs you mentioned... Ghost Rider is very solid; I like that one a lot. I like Dreamline as well, but that song stays as a second-level favorite (Bravado is my top song on that album and I'm a bit bummed that Dreamline is still there a few tours later while Bravado has been dropped). That's OK though. ;-)

You know, it's been quite a while since I last listened to this album. I think I'll give it another spin soon.

REVAN 2008 - Rush has so many albums and their sound has changed quite a bit over the years...it's hard to settle on just one album without knowing what other music you like. Click here to see my response to someone who asked that question here a few years ago. I'd give the same suggestions today.

It's interesting going back and reading that, as some of my favorite albums have changed. The list of recommendations is still pretty good though. If you tell me what other music you like, though, I'll help you pick a good one album to start with.

About the format of T2J, the webmaster has said many times that Joe loves it this way...so I don't see it changing soon. It takes some getting used to, but I think it's good. I like how there's only one thread, because it prevents things from ever getting too busy. Everyone has to read (or at least scroll through) everything, and people don't have time to make new posts if they're all busy going through the older stuff. That's kind of an odd way to look at it, I know, but hey...

achoo - Sorry..."CP tour" = "Crystal Planet tour"...
jdlespaul - Welcome! Tell us a bit about yourself...
El Nicko - The EP songs were just rereleased on Time Machine, they weren't rerecorded. And Talk To Me wasn't included because the master tapes were damaged. I love that song...I have an MP3 of it somewhere on my computer. Thanks for posting a current link for others.

...Austin...

Matt, unlucky!! No chat and no Satchurator! Ah well, it'll mean we have even more to talk about...=D

DoTheStu: Interesting you should mention Bravado, 'cos that's one that I always like listening to--as is Distant Early Warning. The best bit of the dvd for me has to be either Lifeson's 'talk' 'solo' or the tour documentary....the concert's not too bad either ;-) For me, that concert can be summed up quite simply; solid drumming, solid guitar, solid bass and classic vocals. Not a huge fan of Lifeson's tone on it though...he seems to go through tone phases really....but really got it sorted for S&A. Could go on for days like this...=D

Do the Stu - I agree with that. It's very seflish to get yourself to a point where you're tripping over cables and throwing drunken fits on stage. You are very lucky to have caught him on a good night. I really preferred the Sammy era of Van Halen myself. It's also an incredible waste of talent. That's one thing I have always admired about Joe. He goes on sober and rocks the house for 2 plus hours. And every interview you see him, he's articulate. Liveing proof that just because you can shred doesn't mean you have to keep yourself in an altered state all the time. Do you think Joe ever plans on doing what Halen did? Bring the son on tour? You never hear much about Joe's family.

Anyone dealing with this stomach bug? Tough times!!

Igneousiceman, Do The Stu and any other Rushoholics out there: I fell out of love with the Rush sound on the live shows around about the time when Alex switched to PRS (although I don't blame the guitars). It went all muddy with a ton of distortion and lost the bright 'jangliness' that had always been part of his trademark sound. Thankfully, on the S&A tour, some of that jangle was back which made me a happy bunny.

I do have pretty much everything Rush has ever produced - never bothered with Chronicles as nothing new there or their other compilations. I also have some rarities - eg. on vinyl I have Battle Scar recorded live in the studio with Max Webster and released on their Universal Juveniles LP. Then there's the coloured vinyl versions of a GUP 10" EP release with Distant Early Warning (I think?) on the A-side and some previously unreleased (at the time) live versions of songs like Vital Signs on the B-side.

I also have a ton of bootleg stuff from the early years (sadly, still on tape but I'm sure it must be out there on the web somewhere by now), some good some not so much. Hemispheres live is a treat.

I actually find that my JSX head does a great job of getting a Rushy sound. Anybody else using their JSXs to recreate sounds other than Joe's? I use it along with some floor effects pedals and a Lexicon MPX-1. Just need to get hold of original MXR Distortion and Phaser pedals from the early 80s. They do crop up on EBay from time to time so I'll keep checking. Been outbid a few times already. I'm currently saving for an Alex sig model ES-355.

Oh, I'm also using my JSX to recreate some early Steely Dan guitar sounds. Along with Joe and Rush, I love SD with a passion. What a crazy mixed-up freak! :o)
