MadTeal: It appears from your postcode that you live near Hesketh Bank...I live on another village round there. Small world...

DoTheStu: I know what you mean about Hold Your Fire. Personally, I like Moving PIctures more than some of the others, not sure why. It could be down to production as I like the overall sound they got for that. Ah, there's also Witch Hunt. That is one atmospheric song to listen to. Grace Under Pressure is one of the first 'old' ones I properly listened to, so has to be up their with my favourites. I don't know whether you've found this, but I seem to find that there are one or two tracks off every one of their albums I like immediately, the rest sort of follow...Dreamline and Bravado off Roll The Bones are an example of that. Hang on, shouldn't this sort of 'conversation' go on on a Rush forum??! =D

Hey Joe! Love the new album!

My 6 1/2 year-old daughter wanted you to know that your albums keep getting better and better. "I Just Wanna Rock" is one of her favorite songs ever.

(She also wants you to know she lost a tooth recently.)

We had a chance to meet you in West Babylon back in 2004 when "Is There Love In Space?" first came out. We heard you play "Always With Me, Always With You", which became her favorite song for several years after that. I think she's finally chosen a new favorite. (At our house, we mostly call it "The Robot Song.") She also wants you to know she's one of your biggest fans.

Take care!

Hi Joe. I was at your gig in Belfast on Saturday night and I'm still high on the buzz. I found it a very emotional experience, I've been following you since early 90's and I didn't think I'd ever be within 10ft of you and the guys like I was. I just kept shaking my head in disbelief that I was actually there, and you were so good, and afterwards I made the comment...'how do I go back to real life now!'.

My ex hubby died last year after taking his own life and he was a musician and a fan. I felt, during 'always with you, always with me' (a song we were both very fond of) that if he'd just held on one more year he could have been there watching you too. Our two boys, aged 10 and 11, are following in their Dad's musical footsteps and are always on youtube looking up you playing and also we're big Stu Hamm fans too! (I'm learning bass - I'd marry Stu if I could!!)

You've a punishing schedule I'm full of admiration for you all. I know your fan base is very loyal to you and I've got two wee boys here that are carrying on that tradition. Hopefully the next time you come to Belfast they'll be older and I can take them too. Take care guys.

to Tuesdayschild : Victoria, I have read your post and must say I was really emotionnal about it ! A sad story. I am happy you find your comfort in Music and in particular in Joe's Music (with a BIG "M"). Music can be very emotionnal, there is nothing that can move as much in people as music can. Musical notes in the right order (that is the art of it of course) can give you that touch and that is what makes Joe's Music so different from other music. We are all fans and must support and comfort each other, like a big family. Nice to read your sons are big Satch fans too, that is what I call education ! Know what : when you get up in the morning do as I do, put REVELATION on - loud as it can get and enjoy it, rock the house - the boys will love it ! Share the energy with the kids and all will be OK ! take care and enjoy each and every day !

Hi Joe, WOW me and two friends were at the nottingham arena on thursday 21.5.08 what a performance you and the boys gave us the place was rocking. I have listened to you for years but never seen you play live how, do you play that well for a good 3 hour gig . It tells you something i brought 2 friends along who are not into this sort of music i had to pay for the tickets when i looked round at them they were rocking with you. I saw them the following day and they had bought every one of your cds they have got more than me now. Why do people boo at stu his base solo was brilliant. Its a shame the venue didn't like us getting a photo of you thats a bit mean. We can't wait till you tour england again. I hope there is going to be a live dvd of your tour. have a great tour thumps up from engalnd ;)

Marcrainey - Thanks for posting those videos. The Time Machine one is very cool.

So tell us a bit about yourself. What are some of your favorite Satch songs? How'd you get into his music? What other stuff are you into?

Igneousiceman - There used to be a lot of Rush discussions here a few years ago. I guess most of those people are no longer regular posters here, but Rush discussions are still just as on topic as anything else here. ;-)

I think Moving Pictures is an excellent album...it's just not at the top for me. I agree with you about it's production though...it's one of the best there. At the moment, Grace Under Pressure is my least favorite of the albums in my favorite Rush era (Signals through Presto), but it contains some of my favorite songs. I think Between The Wheels would make my top five, and I also like Kid Gloves quite a bit.

Anyway, I love all of Rush's music, but the Signals-Presto period is my favorite because I think it's the most unique when compared to music as a whole. 70s Rush (I guess I should extend this to 1981) and classic prog aren't all that different, and the same goes for 90s/00s Rush and modern hard rock. Does that make sense?

I'm not sure if I can relate to what you said about liking one or two songs off each album immediately, but maybe that's just due to how I got into Rush (all at once). One thing I've noticed that's very cool, though, is how the last track on each of their albums seems to fit perfectly with their next album. This is really noticeable if you load all of their music onto your computer or MP3 player and listen chronologically. The ones that stick out most to me are Vital Signs/Signals, Mystic Rhythms/Hold Your Fire, High Water/Presto, and La Via Strangiato/Permanent Waves. It really works everywhere though...I mean, chronologically, even The Fountain Of Lamneth and 2112 are back to back.

If you had to make a top 5 or top 10 list of Rush albums, what would they be? I think I have an idea based on what you've already said, but I guess I like lists. ;-)

js1200js1000 - Cool...what kind of car?
metalh_dd - Last year's G3 wasn't professionally recorded, so there won't be a CD/DVD.

Your name seems really familiar to me for some reason. Have we met at a gig? Did you ever live in Long Beach, or maybe go to CSULB? Hmmm...

Gogs - I believe Joe wears Project Alabama hats. I don't know if that's the name of a store, company, brand, model, or whatever...but that's the name he's mentioned in interviews.
michelle - Perhaps I should bring back "It is Stu, not boo"...? ;-)
Ibanezplyr - It's good to hear that you're doing a bit better. Keep us posted.

What do you think of PSATMOR, by the way? I don't recall hearing your opinion on it...

...Austin...

DoTheStu: Interesting that people who listen to Joe's music like Rush as well...(huge generalisation I know) With regards to all you said, I do understand what you mean--you prefer the more 'Rushy' Rush...if that makes sense?! Top 5 is hard...although in no particular order; Grace Under Pressure, Snakes and Arrows, Test For Echo, Counterparts, Signals....ah! Past 5...No can't do it =D But I find what you say very interesting...I don't really like the 'proggy' stuff, but I quite like the more modern stuff...=D
