Marcrainey Thanks for the info. I just don't seem to have the speed I want on my Les Paul.

Cheese...nice video. It just amazes me that after all the years Satch has been playing, he still has that much fun every night. So rare. I was stationed in Naples Italy when my landlord's son came to my villa with the surfing with the alien tape in 1988. Sure glad glad he did. They also made some great hommade wine!

Wow I haven't posted here in ages. I see some names I recognize; I hope everyone is well.

A question: Does anyone know where I can find a live video version of Down, Down, Down?

Thanx

Lovin' that new album...

Hello Joe !

How would you like to get one of your guitars airbrushed customized in sweden ????

Me and a friend managed to get our hands on one of Pontus Norgrens guitars (Pontus has just joined the swedish metalband hammefall) and it ended up with that Pontus used it in the swedish eurovision contest this year.

,,,,,and if youre not interested maybe i can jam with you sometime instead.

Best regards Tommy Hansson

webmaster - Is there any way you can add a shortcut link to the "xxx total posts" link for each user that will jump to the person's last page of posts? I know you have a link there that jumps 20 pages at a time, but if someone has a few thousand posts it still takes several clicks to get to what we're looking for. I don't know how easy it'd be to add something like that, but I figured I'd suggest it. Thanks...

Igneousiceman - I prefer the more "Rushy" Rush? I never thought of it that way, but hey...I guess you're right. ;-) Anyway, I've already mentioned a few albums, but here's my top ten: Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, Signals, Presto, Permanent Waves, Counterparts, Grace Under Pressure, Moving Pictures, Roll The Bones, Test For Echo.

The top five are pretty set, but I can see the rest of the list changing around quite a bit. It's hard to pick favorites because there just aren't any bad Rush albums.

Are there any other big Rush fans out here? Speak up...!

Marcrainey - Thanks for posting some more videos, and wow, that's a really cool doodle on your guitar. ;-)

I like your list of top Joe songs...they'd make a good show. My list of top songs would be a bit different, but only because I'm almost burned out on some of the songs he plays at every show. But maybe that's my fault for seeing him live so often...haha.

Your other musical tastes are good as well...you'll fit in just fine here. :-)

Joe Satrini - I looked at your setlist again and I REALLY like it.

About Not Of This Earth, well, does anyone else remember when Joe last played it? Michelle? Am I right in thinking it was the CP tour? This is before my time, but I'm going off what I remember MegaBoyd telling me...

I think it's been just about as long since Joe last played Time Machine, so maybe now that we have that one we'll get NOTE next time.

alexandrecaetano - Thanks for Julie's email address. That's the same one that I have...I sent her something a few weeks ago but didn't hear back. I guess I'll try again.
gtron / Blue_Moon - I know as of a few years ago Joe was playing a Dunlop 535Q wah. I don't remember hearing that he changed to something else, so I assume he's still using it. I'm not sure if it's modified though.
cheese101 - Thanks a bunch for all of the info, and for all of the photos/videos that I'm sure will be coming sometime soon. ;-) I'm really psyched for the tour this fall. I'd love to save up and make it to several shows. I'd love to go to Reno if Joe plays there...we'll see.

And all this Satch stuff aside, I'm glad that you went ahead with your trip to Ireland. I'm sure it was a hard decision, but it was the right one. And now it's good to have you back here. :-)

El Nicko - I'm with you...I'd love to hear more Dreaming #11-ish stuff.
achoo - I recognize you...welcome back. :-)

I don't know where you can find a Down, Down, Down video, but I can help you narrow your search by telling you it hasn't been played live since the EOC tour.

Fouiz - Do you remember what the setlist was? Can you share any details?

...Austin...

I finally heard for the first time on live Time Machine and Cryin it was cool. Joe, your music is magnificent. Your last album is ROCK!!! Thank you for everything!!!

Yeah.... Do The Stu whats up!

Somebody posted a vid of Time Machine on youtube. Ive never seen it live; that's my favorite Satch song and like my top 10 all time favorie songs all genres. Peeps in Europe were so lucky to have seen that.

Not Of This Earth is my second favorite Satch song. What setlist is this on? I would love to see that live. That song still baffles me 'till this day. I dont even understand the mechanics behind it no matter how many time I listen to it. All I can make out is a Lydian mode (my favorite).somewhere therein

I never look up how to play it 'cause I want the song to remain as mysterious, foreign, and "Not Of this Earth" as it sounds.... forever....

achoo...hiya, long time no see :)

Austin, thanks, I guess I did go, didn't I. Very hard to do, you should have seen the debate going on inside my head and my heart at the Reno airport last week. The way I was pacing around and using up tissues, people musta thought I was a little "off" at the very least. I'll try to get to the photos and video today if I can, I just called in sick for the day :|

And I think you might like the Reno venue, if he plays at the Grand Sierra....great acoustics in there, plus you can stay right at the same casino/hotel they play at and spot them wandering through it from time to time :)

hybes, nice to meet you. And you are so right, Joe still enjoys doing what he's doing and it shows :) Sounds like you are a long-time fan, that's very cool!

omg it's 3:30 am and I'm up, sicker than a dog. Couldn't get to sleep till after 11, even though you could pack the entire bands' luggage under my eyes....I need some tea and strong drugs and my mum...guess I'll settle for the tea. :(

How do you keep from getting sick traveling around like you do Joe? Airplane air is germy!!

Achoo - You can find the Down Down Down on the G3 with Eric Johnson. Caviat however, it is not the same version as the CD recording. :(

Nice to meet you Cheese. Been a Satch fan for a VERY long time. Still have never had the pleasure to see him live. I hope the current tour makes a stop in Oklahoma.

T-Bones, I'm glad you took the day off. You need a day of REST! I know you don't wanna give mama yer germs, but even the phone calls will help. Just lay around and relax today. The only thing you have to do is take care of you....and send me the pics from the pub. lol! I'm so feckin' happy to have the day off. The six day stretch over a holiday weekend is way worse than the normal every other week six day stretch. I was even gonna ditch work on Thursday so I could have five days in a row off, but then they'd take my ot away. Bastids! The weekend is coming T!

Finally put my review up of the Cardiff show. It was fun to relive it in my head again!

Loll's Cardiff show review!

Cheese: glad you had a great time in Ireland. Hope you feel better soon. Too much pleasure eh? :D You said "I walked into a Burger King, didn't buy anything but was curious how much a Whopper was here....not a full meal...just a Whopper...it's £4.05, which in American $$ is $6.38....for ONE burger!!! OMG!!! Guess I'll hafta come home, can't afford to live here!!"

Ha! Calculate again. I make it more like $7.97 at current exchange rates. And don't get me started on our fuel prices. You would not believe it!

Igneousiceman and Do The Stu: My rush fandom stretches back into the dim and distant past so all time fave album list reads a little differently to yours:

Moving Pictures
Permanent Waves
2112
Hemispheres
Caress of Steel
A Farewell To Kings
Signals
Grace Under Pressure
Power Windows
Fly By Night

All the others slot in there afterwards in any order as long as Vapor Trails (or should that be 'Vapoor Trails'?) is last! ;o)

My reasoning is that I really cut my teeth as a guitar player with those earlier albums. There's so much to learn from Alex's playing back then - I'm still learning from those recordings now. The more recent stuff is much more effects based rather than great playing IMO although there are still occasional glimpses of brilliance. I haven't heard a truly inspiring Lifeson solo since the albums I've listed. I live in 'Hope' though! ;o).

As a band, Rush rock and I will be truly sad to see them hang up their instruments and bid 'a farewell to the road'. Still, the time is now and there's plenty of life in the old Snow Dog yet! Can't wait for the next album and another tour. My S&A tour shirts are wearing thin already.
