Achoo - You can find the Down Down Down on the G3 with Eric Johnson. Caviat however, it is not the same version as the CD recording. :(

Nice to meet you Cheese. Been a Satch fan for a VERY long time. Still have never had the pleasure to see him live. I hope the current tour makes a stop in Oklahoma.

Ohhhh, I love those pants! lol!

T-Bones, I'm glad you took the day off. You need a day of REST! I know you don't wanna give mama yer germs, but even the phone calls will help. Just lay around and relax today. The only thing you have to do is take care of you....and send me the pics from the pub. lol! I'm so feckin' happy to have the day off. The six day stretch over a holiday weekend is way worse than the normal every other week six day stretch. I was even gonna ditch work on Thursday so I could have five days in a row off, but then they'd take my ot away. Bastids! The weekend is coming T!

Finally put my review up of the Cardiff show. It was fun to relive it in my head again!

Loll's Cardiff show review!

Cheese: glad you had a great time in Ireland. Hope you feel better soon. Too much pleasure eh? :D You said "I walked into a Burger King, didn't buy anything but was curious how much a Whopper was here....not a full meal...just a Whopper...it's £4.05, which in American $$ is $6.38....for ONE burger!!! OMG!!! Guess I'll hafta come home, can't afford to live here!!"

Ha! Calculate again. I make it more like $7.97 at current exchange rates. And don't get me started on our fuel prices. You would not believe it!

Igneousiceman and Do The Stu: My rush fandom stretches back into the dim and distant past so all time fave album list reads a little differently to yours:

Moving Pictures
Permanent Waves
2112
Hemispheres
Caress of Steel
A Farewell To Kings
Signals
Grace Under Pressure
Power Windows
Fly By Night

All the others slot in there afterwards in any order as long as Vapor Trails (or should that be 'Vapoor Trails'?) is last! ;o)

My reasoning is that I really cut my teeth as a guitar player with those earlier albums. There's so much to learn from Alex's playing back then - I'm still learning from those recordings now. The more recent stuff is much more effects based rather than great playing IMO although there are still occasional glimpses of brilliance. I haven't heard a truly inspiring Lifeson solo since the albums I've listed. I live in 'Hope' though! ;o).

As a band, Rush rock and I will be truly sad to see them hang up their instruments and bid 'a farewell to the road'. Still, the time is now and there's plenty of life in the old Snow Dog yet! Can't wait for the next album and another tour. My S&A tour shirts are wearing thin already.

Achoo - My bad. I was thinking of Going Down. LOL! Can't help either on Down, Down, Down.

Cheese - OKC is the spot. Bartlesville is very nice. Lots of oil money up there! =) The people here are amazing. I'm a transplant from Maine. Different world here.

Mc, a boat u say? How long of a trip would that be? The bus is the way to go, I think you're right about that, less chance of coming into contact with random people's germs....although Joe and crew are around so many people on these tours. I wonder what they do when someone gets sick, especially outside the US?

My trip was only a few days and I'mabout dead, lol...dunno how you did it for 5 weeks, but then, yer young and booze helped, LOL!

loll....$7.97, that's even WORSE!! FFS that's too much for one damn burger!! I dunno how anyone affords to live there, seriously...my first clue was when they wanted to charge me for a plastic grocery bag....geez!! I didn't even notice the gas prices, what are they per gallon? Here they've hit well over $4 a gallon, still climbing with no end in sight. Ridiculous!

hybes....Oklahoma City....were you near the damage path of the big tornado in May of 99? We were still there in OK for that storm, and a tornado was headed for Bartlesville....my son and I spent part of the night huddling in the master closet with his mattress pulled over us. Luckily the tornado blew itself out before it ever hit populated areas, but OKC wasn't so fortunate. We drove through there afterwards on our way to move to Vegas and saw some of the damage left behind. Wow.

LOL....different world is absolutely right...you transplanted there from the east coast, I came from the west coast. But we loved our time there and would have liked to have stayed if fate had dealt differently. Glad you like it there :) But yeah, it's a problem that Joe doesn't tour OK at all, I would hate that part of living there. Being here in Oregon, we have several opportunities to catch him live, and do so whenever we can :) Yer just gonna hafta travel to see Joe, but it's well worth it, believe me. You wouldn't regret it!

Hi Joe, hi All :)

First of all...congrats for the new album! I am from Rome and will be attending the show at Trezzo sull'Adda - Milan (Italy) on the 11/06. However, I would like to say something about the choice of the Italian venues. It is very hard to get to Trezzo sull'Adda (and not Milan itself as specified in the tour section) by public transport, no trains get there and buses work till 11 pm (which means you are forced to spend about 50 euro for a taxi after the show to get to the closest train station). It's ok for me to spend so much money for a plane, a night in a hotel, a taxi etc. as long as I can attend your show...however not so many people can afford it. I am wondering why you chose these almost unreacheable venues :( Plus, both Italian shows are held in Italian Northern cities (or villages...)....please do not forget about your fans from the South :( is there any chance there will be more shows in Italy in the next future? I think shows should be held in main cities which are much easier to reach by car and by public transport...especially if you plan to do just 2 shows (if shows were 10 all over Italy it would have been much easier to reach the closest one...even if it was in a small village). Sorry for saying this....but it's just because there are so many fans of yours who would like to see you live and unfortunately will not be able to do so :(

Thanks :) Can't wait to see YOU!

Daniela

I don't know where you went to buy a burger T. Safley, thats mad! ...the petrol here is €1.25 ($1.96) per litre and diesel is €1.33 ($2.04) per litre, SO, a gallon of petrol here is about $9.00... BUT the cost of a drink is insane, €4.50 ($7.05) for a pint or even a bottle of beer.... thats crazy!!! but i agree with the plastic bag charge, there really bad for the envoirment, most people who do their grocery shopping have those kinda reusable canvas bags, but most shops give paper bags now. The place isnt as crazy as you think it is!

The boat from Wales or the West coast of the UK can take from 2.5-5 hours, depending on which boat you get. Its handy if u wana drive in the UK, or even drive to Europe, hop on the boat in Ireland, go through the UK then channel tunnell and u can be in France in less than a day

and Vicar St. is a great venue, good size good seats and good sound... + i love the backstage area there

Cheese: $4 a gallon would be sweet. We are having to fork out over $8.50 a gallon. If you want diesel, better add another dollar to that! All our lorry (truck) drivers are starting protests and demanding an immediate price reduction. Joe's fuel bill around Europe must be pretty scary!

Just remember folks when price matching that an imperial gallon ( UK, Canada and the commonwealth) is 4and a half litres while an American (US Gallon) is 4....

any way you slice it, US still have relatively "good" prices compared to the rest of us. Here in Canada we are currently at about $5.20 per US Gallon ( $1.29 litre for regular)

Hey Cheese 101 how are you! ______________________________________________________________________ Zinc Master what’s goin’ on dude?!?!?! Believe it or not yes, I still have that hat. I have kept it in mint condition all these years. I’m surprised you remember that lol. I still remember standing next to you at that concert the whole night. Man that was the time of my life. I also still remember the security guards hassling me ‘cause they thought I had a bomb in my bookbag. That was too funny. It made me loose my space in the middle of the front row though. It’s ok ‘cause Satch always plays off to the left of the stage.(his right) Anywayz, do you still have those pics we got to take? I do and have posted them on photobucket. You all can check out me and Satch looking cool ‘bout 3 and some years ago. I was just starting to grow my hair out then, hence “the cool hat.” Man it’s like really long now; I’ll post a pic of that too. Even longer than it looks in the pic I have it kinda wrapped up. I forgot a couple hanging in the back; you can kinda get an idea from there.

I still want them to come out with a DVD to that Evening With JS tour…It was so cool to see Bamboo and The Traveler live. So, Jooooooooooooooooooe?!? ___________________________________________________________________________ Hybes it’s all good. I see someone posted a vid of D,D,D on youtube. Satch you guys really didn’t have that one down yet huh? lol The beginning is ruff, smoothed out later on though _________________________________________________________________________ Here are those pics… anyone please feel free to check ‘em out.

Joe - hope you guys are still having fun. Good luck with the rest of the tour, another marathon lol

Cheese - Irelands so close I should have thought about it in advance. I almost always book loadsa shows, then think I'm being a bit mad, and then when there are no more shows. wish I'd booked more...well, I'll take a look at the dates and see how it might pan out, but yeah, why not. Ah, cross time zone sleep issues - aren't they great : b

JS1200JS1000 - just googled yer car. Nice - 3 litre V6 yes? Glug glug, but I suppose you guys still have cheap fuel?

Do The Stu - that's seriously bad timing that we both missed NOTE, but I like your thinking. There's so many other classics that I'm sure we'd all love to here as well. All good things....

There must be loads that have never been done live for various reasons

Hope the Paris DVD doesn't take too long to be released, especially if the set list is the same as the gigs I saw. W O W!

Have a great day everyone

Joe did say once that he has to wait to be invited to venues...so may not be anything to do with him or his management. I do feel for all fans though that are so far away, I won't tell how many lucky times I have seen our Joe play.

Gas prices in the U.S. are pretty good compared to most of the world (not counting countries like Venezuela where it's subsidized), but another reason it's hard to do a direct comparison between the U.S. and Europe is that gas taxes are higher elsewhere. We make up those taxes in the U.S. on other things.

achoo - Yeah, I'm psyched about Time Machine too. I hope it stays in the set for the US tour. I hope Cryin' sticks around too.

I'm going off what other people have told me, but yeah, NOTE was played on the CP tour. If it seems like such a shock to people here, though, maybe it wasn't played at every show. Maybe it was just in San Francisco? He played some shows there around Christmas 1998, I think it was...Derek Trucks opened.

I should just get in touch with MegaBoyd and get all this straightened out. ;-)

Wooleyman - Yeah, those SBM flame pants were awesome. I wonder if they're still in one piece, though...didn't he wear them every single night?
loll - Thanks for linking to the Cardiff review...it's good to read your thoughts. And I agree, I think subbing out Super Colossal for Starry Night would make a great setlist even better.

It's cool to see Caress Of Steel so high on your Rush list. I don't listen to that one too often, and each time I do I wonder why I waited so long. I don't know if it'll ever crack my top 10, but I do enjoy it.

If you can get past the horrible mastering, there's some good stuff on Vapor Trails. Something that really helped me get into the album is shuffling through Rush's entire discography on my MP3 player. When you hear something like Secret Touch sandwiched between Subdivisions and Vital Signs you appreciate it in a different way. Or I did, at least.

Joe Satrini - I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but I've always thought would be neat for Joe to give one spot on the setlist each night to something he rarely plays live. Make it different each night, so he ends up playing everything over the course of the tour.

The songs wouldn't be rehearsed to perfection, as the band just doesn't have that kind of time, but it'd be easy to overlook that if it meant we got to hear things like Back To Shalla-Bal, New Blues, Trundrumbalind, and so on.

...Austin...

Cheese - Yes I was here during that May tornado! I actaully worked a third of a mile from the path. As you know however, the storm chasers here are on their game so we had 30 minutes headsup to leave. I couldn't get back to work for a week! It was quite surreal. I think OKC is never a real hotbed for concerts. Van Halen was here in January, but I saw some video of Eddie on stage in Seattle. It was aweful. I love Halen, but would not pay money to see Eddie falling all over the stage and ripping cables out of his amps. I don't think Joe has ever played here. If he gets to Dallas this time around, I think I am going to have to make the trek there to see him. My top 2 that I have never seen are Joe and Zeppelin. Gotta make it happen!
