Ola Satchland ! !

I know it must be super duper top secret, but has anyone caught wind of how much the "Satchurator Pedal" is going to cost? I'd like to start saving now...lol..

DoTheStu...I'm not a fanatical Rush fan...but I saw them way back in '89 or so and it was (and still is) the best live performance I've ever seen. It helped that we had perfect seats too. Front row seats up in the balcony to the immediate left of the stage.

ZuperDave, yep....$119-$129, Guitar Center has it priced at $129 to pre-order.

Mahavishnu, thanks. Enjoy your shows!

Hey Joe and Band,

yesterday i was the thirdtime on your concert in Germany, Filharmonie Filderstadt. Your show was excellent as ever, top guitar professionality at its best.

My question: have you on tour your own man on the mixer or from the company which build up the PA ?

Sorry, sorry, but the sound was very very bad yesterday. The bassdrum and bass in deepest it punches all down. We stand near the Mixerarea in the middle of the hall. Your very fine and acribic phrases could not be recognized as well in the overload of the PA. I thought, the mixerman has taken the Heavymetall-Preset for your very fine guitarmusic. It was very sad, not to enjoy whole of details. In 2002 in Tuttlingen, Hohnberg, there was a little bit smaller PA, but with a better resolution and without the heavy overloads.

I hope you can have a look on this things in future.

I wish you a sucessful tour and a lot of fun in germany.

Greats

Klaus, near Stuttgart

Tuesdayschild You got the book already!? Cool. Understand though you're not gonna be Satch overnight. It takes a minute to get your ears to tune in to the way the different notes sound in each scale and which ones sound good together.Goin' about it this way (without kearning to read music), there is a LOT of trial and error involved. This book is basically like a blueprint or road map that will help cut down on unnecessary errors

Like I said, when I first got this book I already knew a thing or two about scales and their application.

One more thing that might compliment that book is if you invest in a metronome so as not fall a victim to gazing aimlessley at the black dots. You can do things such as challenge yourself to play all the notes in x scale in x amount of mesures or make up.stretching exercises that focus on timing and dexterity.

If you need any further help with that book dont be afraid to click on my name and send an email....

I forgot to say hi Satchland. HI SATCHLAND!!!! Top o' the mornin.

Hi all....2 weeks to my last exam!!!! Soo many weeks of pain and torment and they're nearly over. Then I'm off to the local guitar shop to spend spend spend! I'm coming all over a quiver just thinking about it...I am officially Fed Up with my guitar, which is a pity as it's a pretty thing imagine this but with 2 humbuckers. Just doesn't stay in tune enough for me...Now I'm thinking of getting the Ibanez S670fm let me know what you think about it!

Matt: I might not be in chat today...unless you are in earlier like yesterday. We'll see...enjoy the last 2 weeks if we don't talk before you finish! =D

Dear Joe,

Yesterday I was stunned by your performance in Brussels; being a silent fan for more than 10 years now, I really was so excited to see you perform live. Especially since a good friend (who is not a fan) offered the ticket as my birthday present in january this year.

Finally I had a chance to see and hear one of my musical idols: the icon of rock. This should be it. This day would serve as personal memorial day.

When the concert started I could not enjoy any of your songs and I had to leave early. Why? Your play was close too perfection, your song selection was great, your fellow musicians gave every inch. So why did I have to leave and feel morose?

The concert was way too loud for me. As a matter of fact it still hurts my ears today. That’s absolutely not what I hoped for and had expected. In comparison to the Framptone song and the intimacy of recording of your last album with Andulusia, imo one of your best songs ever. On the contrary I still feel very sad and stupid.

Never look back and never expect anything from life. Otherwise despair and disappointment will be your part. Here on the edge, with 100,000 fans ready to poach my skin for being a critic, all I can do is being honest with about what I felt last night in Brussels.

Anyway, all the best.

Kind regards,

Boudewijn Haslinghuis Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Hey everyone.....I stumbled across something interesting today....just checking on Joe's Wikipedia article>

From Wikipedia:

"It was revealed on May 29, 2008 that Satriani is involved in a new hard rock project with former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. The band, that will feature Hagar on vocals, Satriani on guitar, Anthony on bass and Smith on drums, is currently tentatively called "Chickenfoot" and is currenly writing material and getting ready for the recording of their debut album which will start in the summer."

Maybe I missed something, but where and when was this announced?

Can the detective team help me out....if this is true I'm very curious....

Thanks

WhammyFreak

WhammyFreak, it's true and press is being released already on this. Joe has even spoken about it, he very much looks forward to their upcoming recording session near the end of the summer.

Okay, a few people have said Joe's shows on this tour are very loud, so here's a tip to all the fans going to upcoming shows...

TAKE SOME EARPLUGS!

It's a good idea to take them to every show just in case you need them. I've already seen people shove tissues in their ears because the band on stage was to loud for them. When yer going to a concert, they're gonna play at concert level. Save yer hearing, and enjoy the show :-)

Hey Achoo...really cool tips there about the challenge and the metronome, thanks. I don't think I'll be satch standard however long I play, but maybe my older son will be someday. I was jamming with him earlier, I'd composed a wee thing on the bass and he started fiddling about in the higher ranges of his 6 string...in the same key...at 11 years old I think that's pretty good (and with zero theory behind him). Together it sounded coherent and could be the start of a whole new composition.

I can read music ok, for the piano and also for singing, I sing in my local church choir (four part choral) as soprano and alto (how different that can be from rock music - but hey, I enjoy it). Music is music (apart from country which I can't abide) and I love everything from choral to classical to metal. It's the way it's constructed that gets me everytime...just sometimes magic happens!
