I will be going on my very first skydiving trip. They will video the jump and can put it to music. Do you have a suggestion for this. They are saying the video is about 8 minutes long.

ITS PAST JUN 01 WHERE IS THE PODCAST!!!!!! Nick-Wow I really like your music!!!! Now how can I get them on CDs? and I can try to learn some of them by ear but I would appreciate tabs! I would also like to hear you try some Joe songs! I think you could nail them!

John-Well its the last week of skool, (but I still have finals the next week but they are half days so I can get on the computer at our usual time.) My digital Imagery teacher hasn't let me on the computer so I haven't been able to chat. I can see that you like Nick's music too, he is really good. And he comes up with his music. I am not very good at writing songs.

I am trying to learn the arpeggio of Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing and I can get so frusterated. But I can get some of it. I need some better distortion because I can never hear the high E string unless the gain is VERY high.

After I have seen the latest podcast I have been listening to a lot of Paul Gilbert, I also just heard Glasgow Kiss by John Petrucci and now I have been listening to him a lot. I thnk I am going to try to learn Glasgow Kiss, But it's amazing how he picks every note.

Well that's a long enough message for me so LATER!

LAST WEEK OF SKOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue Moon - yep, kudos to your friend. Shame about the Pedal board, I got kicked out of the stage area about 1 minute after the Cardiff gig (would have been an easy shot too as the stage is so low)... ah well

JS1200JS1000 - am used to V6 using a little more gas than most... if you use the loud pedal a lot LOL Nightmare on the window tinting, hope you get it sorted. Driving a dull model Audi at the mo, having sold my Mitsi Evo 6 Ltd last autumn... sob

Do The Stu - cool post re Planet US. Cheers

Cheese - ah yes, the JS4 Electric Rainbow (painted by Joan)... gimme gimme gimme! and the pedals... and the amp...

Do the Stu - thanks for posting the Planet US. That was a rocking tune!! I can't wait to see what they come up with in September.

I think you are totally right to travel around and take in as many concerts as possible! I am 39 and have 4 children. 1 getting ready to go to Florida State this fall! So I just don't have near the time I used to.

I have been a Satch fan since 88. Funny story, I was stationed in Italy and I was very good friends with my landlords son. one day he shows up just jumping out of his skin. He had the Surfing with the Alien. I love Europeans. they just generally have so much more enthusiasm about simple things! I'm sure I would have stumbled on to Satch sooner or later, but I'm sure glad he showed up with it.

I tell you what...I love reading the posts and reading about everyone's travels catching Joe live. Such a great experience. That's the stuff that makes life! I hope I get the chance to see him this time around. I don't know about you guys, but I listen to the stuff Joe has done this decade and he's really just getting better and better.

theres no words that can explain how much you love them...

but once there gone... its worse for explaining the pain your feeling.

even if there not all the way gone and there still there.... its still so hard... when you are having problems that may lead to that... you dont know what to do.

Steve Vai has some cool new merchandise packages on his website. You can get an original Flexible LP, an Ultra Zone tour book, and an autographed 8x10 all for $11.95 plus shipping. I just bought that...the LP will be a very nice collector's item.

I wonder if/when Joe is going to part with some of his original EPs. When I was talking to Jeff after last year's LA G3 show he said he thought Joe still had boxes and boxes of them.

Tuesdayschild - Based on what you've said, I think Awake would be a good Dream Theater album for you to get next. There's a good mix of stuff there...some songs are heavy, yeah, but it's also a very melodic album. So check it out and let me know what you think...

I haven't heard of 12 Stones, so I just looked them up on Wikipedia. They're from Mandeville, Louisiana? I lived there from 1st to 3rd grade. Wikipedia says these people are only a few years older than me...I should dig up an elementary school yearbook and try to find them, haha.

What would be a good album to try?

michelle - Heavy metal works well? Blast some Ozzy...if bats can communicate with each other this one will know to get out ASAP.
loll - I don't remember if I mentioned this in a previous post, but Octavarium is my third favorite DT album. Second place goes to Awake, which I mentioned to Tuesdayschild above. My favorite DT album is Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence. My favorite DT song is also on that album...Blind Faith.
cheese101 - Thanks for those videos. Electric Rainbow is my favorite Satch guitar...I wish he'd take it out on tour. Does anyone know if he ever has? If so, when?
jons5 - If the video is 8 minutes long, I'd try to go with two songs. Start with something like One Big Rush for the freefall, and then go with something melodic but not quite as fast for the rest. Maybe something like Friends?
OME - The video looks good...I like the track that starts around the 0:50 mark. Which song is that?

One criticism, though...I think you spend too much time going through the track list at the end of the video. It'd be OK to take that much time if you're playing short sound clips from each track, but since the background music stays the same I think the list drags on...especially because your music is essentially unknown to the average person.

hybes - Yeah, that's a good song. I remember Joe mentioning in an interview that Up In Flames from ITLIS? was originally written for that project. Some of Neal Schon's stuff from that project were later used in his band Soul Sirkus.
gotta have Joe - I know we haven't talked to each other as much as other people on T2J, but feel free email me at the address in my profile here or send me a message on AIM (ALewis525). Maybe I can offer a fresh perspective on what you're going through...?

My love life is practically non-existant. It seems I have the worst luck in the world sometimes. I just found out tonight as a matter of fact that I probably lost my chance with someone...argh. Go me.

That's not to say I can't relate to what you're going through, though. But back to what I was saying...I'd be more than happy to lend an ear. Just let me know...

...Austin...

Gotta have Joe - Sorry to hear your pain. Never cool to lose someone. The positive that you can't see right now is it usually leads to someone better down the road. Time and good friends is the only cure my friend. Hang in there.

gotta have Joe: However crappy you feel right now, something that can help to bring a ray of hope back into your life is to make it a goal to get to know as many new people as possible. How many people do you know really well right now? Be determined to double that number over the course of the next year. It's a challenge but often challenges and goals are what we need to drag us from under an overcast sky and out into the sunshine again.

You obviously have a lot of love to give; there will be someone out there who will appreciate that and who will reciprocate. You just have to keep looking. I wish you well.
