Hi Kilgelec,

Good decision to learn the guitar. No it's never too late. Career-wise in terms of playing professionally, I won't lie to you, it's a disadvantage. But as for getting good and enjoying it, welcome to a world of infinite possibles!

Your fingers are fat? Think it's bad?

Check out Andres Segovia.

One of your fingers is shortened?

Check ot Django Reinhardt.

All the best.

mahavishnu: Firstly, nice name. Secondly, it's nice to see someone else who appreciates Stanley Clarke. He is sort of like Joe, but on bass...sort of. Have you got his recent album? Bit too fusion-ey for me but still good to hear a completely individual musician.

To all Americans, I've been wondering. Who are you going to vote for? All the news coverage over here has made me interested in what the public opinion is. =D

Igneousiceman - Yep I've applied to get my stuff on itunes, but now it means an eight week wait until the tracks are on there! Aside from that though, and I'll keep you updated; I'm gonna update the shop on my website and start selling CDs. Watch this space! I've got some new tracks in the making too, overcome my writer's block :-)

Anyone else going to see Joe and the other awesome players on at the London guitar show?

nickguitarmeistro, yeah, I may be able to go to the London Music Show after all. It depends how work goes this week and whether I can hitch a ride with a mate to save on the cost of fuel! £1.30 a litre now! :o( Probably stay over night and do Sat and Sun if we can find a hotel that's not too expensive. Any suggestions? Any one know if there's a Travelodge near by?

hey, i was wondering how come only the real famous guitarists go on the G3 tour, it'd be so cool if some unknown ones could show what they can do. i was browsing youtube and thought that many of those guys and play probably as well, or almost as well as say joe, so it'd be real cool to see them make and appearance in concerts with the pros. just a thought...

Hey Joe, so looking forward to you coming to play in Freo in July, 1st saw you at Hammersmith in '88 and more than 15 times since, so this is a 20th anniversary for me ;o)). My wife amazingly bought me premium tickets for the show, so I'm totally stoked to be meeting you and the band (hopefully Stu as well!). "Professor" is on permanently at work and I'm still amazed after all these years how you still sound so fresh and inspiring................................look forward to meeting you man, it's gonna make my year! :o)))

Sometimes I feel I can hear what Joe listened in to his own music. For instance "Ride" always makes me think of ZZ Top.

I wonder of the ending of "The traveler" in Strange Beautiful Music has anything to do with "All along the watchtower" from Electric Ladyland?

Hey, I got my third JS1200 yesterday. Had to get three to get an acceptable one (Ibanez quality control is severely lacking on the Prestige range I have to say).

But this guitar is awesome. I love it. There's really something in Joe's sound that I dig and that I don't hear anywhere else. I wanted that thickness of tone. I have it now! I could go on about this guitar. Suffice to say, my number one choice was a J.Custom, more sophisticated, with more detailing, gorgeous woods, better finish etc.

But despite all this... I play the JS all the time now!

Superstrings were you buying the JS1200's from a local store or ordering thru your music store?

My first JS1000 was and still is a great guitar, but I played one at a guitar center that had shelflife and it was a very dry feeling guitar, not well taken care of.

maritime, it's supposed to be the black JS guitar with all the scribblings on it, similiar to the guitar pictured on the back of the Flying in a Blue Dream album. It's gonna look COOL!!

Also, there will be a JS100 model put out that has the silver surfer graphic on it....it looks a lot like the JS20th anniversary guitar, but has a painted graphic only, the silver surfer body won't be done in relief. They will be produced only to order (they are taking orders now I believe) and once they cut off taking any more orders, that's it...no more of those will be made. My guitar guy is ordering at least two :)

As to the Satchurator pedal, what I've heard so far live from Joe using this pedal....it's gonna be great!!!

On a totally different subject....I will not be voting for the republican candidate for this presidential election. Bush has bankrupted this country and I'm not eager to see that continue as I feel it would if McCain gets elected. I can't afford him....and America isn't strong anymore....we are hated by most of the world, and pitied for our choice of leaders.

In the last two days, gas prices per gallon here went from around $4.06 to $4.22....and the price of crude oil has fallen. There's no explanation for this that I know of except greed...and our president is allowing it to happen because he's a "good old boy" from the oil patch. It's pretty sad when families have to make a choice between either feeding their children, or putting gas in their cars just to get to and from work. Apparently we're not supposed to have it both ways...able to afford the gas to get to work so we can take care of our families without government assistance. So sad.

OME,

I got them from a music store. Fist one was ordered for me and I came to collect it. The finish, the grain of the wood in the neck, the sound, were perfect. Neck pocket was tight and deep. Playability excellent. However, I noticed the strings were offset towards the bass side of the neck, so much so that string 6 would often fall off the end of the fret.

No adjustement was possible. (Too long to get into the details).

The guitar guy at the shop saw it and immediately accepted there was an anomaly. They ordered another one.

Some time later I came to pick it up. But it was the same as "mine".

Didn't accept the replacement.

So a couple more weeks goes by... a holiday... and I return to get a new one. It had an ugly wood grain in the neck, not symmetrical, but I could live with that. Took it home. Played great, amazing in fact.

It's only when the light hit it a certain way that I saw a huge defect in the paintwork, just under the neck pickup. Runny paint... when something was reflected, it got all distorted. Very ugly. I was embarassed to pester the guys at the shop again and I've been starting a new job so initially I thought I was going to live with that but it bugged me.

Last week I phoned them and I said look, I think I'll buy another one, I can't ask you to change it again but I might sell it second hand, and if you get a real nice one phone me, I might buy it.

However they spontaneously offered to change it if I wanted, albeit this time with a small restocking fee, due to the long time I left in between.

So yesterday I went to check this one. This one has an ok wood grain, and basically no defect anywhere. I am real happy with it.

By the way this shop has basically gained a customer for life. I don't buy a lot of studio stuff because I already have plenty of equipment, but if I need to buy I'll go to them first. When my son switches from a 3/4 size guitar to a full size for instance, I'll get it from them.

So anyway, my thoughts on this:

- One guitar with offset string. - A second guitar with offset strings (refused). - A guitar with an ugly runny paint job. - One good guitar.

Guitar advertised for £1099, initially purchased for £1049 with a small discount, but a restocking fee of £100 on the last exchange.

In USD, that's a guitar that cost me well over $2000.

This is quite simply NOT the level of quality control I expect from Ibanez. I say it as someone who LOVES Ibanez. At their best, no one touches them. But they're taking the you know what.

My RG570, purchased in 1992 (1991 model) was PERFECT. Still plays amazingly well and it cost only around half that amount then.

My J.Custom (2007 model) is a beauty. Of course it was more expensive. It was a special gift made to myself to try and heal, when I thought I was losing my ability to play (I was diagnosed - wrongly - with rheumatoid arthritis).

Based on these two instruments that I love, I did not expect 3 out of 4 JS to be below standard. It's terribly disappointing.

The guitar itself is superb though... at long last.

Cheese - 4.22 a gallon!! Ouch! It's a shame how fast this is all happening isn't it? Really unbelievable.

I am trying to save some money up to buy my first JS1000! I can't wait. If it's as great as everyone says, I'm going to just be in heaven! Of course with the rising price of gas, it may be longer than I had hoped. =( but hey, it's good to have goals. More to look forward to!

chelle...LOL...101 favs? for cheese101? I thought it was around 70 or so, dint know it was that manys until u said somefink :) Maybe it would be bad luck to add any more?

Yes, mckenna is on my list to add to favs, but I was 'xausted after doing that many satch youtubes.....and you'd be proud to know that of that 101, ONE isn't Joe....it's Achmed the Dead Terrorist, LOL.....

I need to throw some Sully stuffs in there too....and eeeeeeenemy...etc....

hybes, yep it's a damn shame the gas prices. Today, $4.22 a gallon, by next week it'll be over $4.50, wait and see...and before the end of this month I'm betting it'll hit 5 bucks a gallon. Completely ridiculous and so unneccesary. Bush could put a stop to it but won't because it won't line his pockets and those of his friends as nicely. They are getting rich off the backs of the heart of this country, all the people who work to support themselves and everyone else.

Oh and ps hybes, you won't regret getting the JS1000, it's a beautiful guitar in all ways. The 1200 is even better.
