GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My parents said if I want to get the JS Guitar for my birthday I have to combine it with my christmas present.....BUT HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T PLAY A SHITTY, CONSTANTLY UNTUNED GUITAR FOR 6 MORE MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My birthday is July 8 coming up quick I need $400 in the next week and when I said I can't wait until christmas they said pick something else then. But the things I want the most are the JS guitar and JS amp. Both of them are over $600 so I would have to still combine with christmas and wait until then. So I have to play my current guitar for 6 more months. *sigh* *sigh again* *really long sigh* >.<

The weather in Chi -Town has ben' great this year. Upper 70's lower 80's and averaging mid to upper 60's at night. Nice...no AC. I don't like AC but a necessary evil....lol.....Take Care

OK, I listened to Super Colossal this morning and jotted down some notes. I'll make another post about the album either in an hour or so before I go to work, or late tonight/early tomorrow when I get home.

andy of uk - That looks (and sounds) like Jonathan Mover on drums to me.
gotta have Joe - It's good to hear from you... Where are you thinking of going to college? Any ideas yet?

And don't take this the wrong way (it's a compliment, I promise!), but from reading your posts I would've thought you were already in college (you come across a few years older)...but you're still in high school?

Keniko - That weather sounds nice...it's been HOT here in California lately. The hot water in my apartment wasn't working for a short time yesterday (I guess the pilot light on the water heater went out), so I had to take a shower with only cold water. But it was so hot outside that the cold water felt just fine. ;-)

JS1200.....I'm sorry for your loss. It's tough. My mom is gone also so I have like an empty feeling now that my dad has joined her. I felt bad for my dad when my mom passed for so many reasons.... one being they missed the 50 yr. married milestone by 6 months. It's still a little weird but like I said it gets a little easier over time.

DO THE STU..... Yeah.... banner weather in Chicago. I'm lovin' it. I sound like a McDonald's commercial....lol..... No hot water for the shower???......Can you say....Shrinkage?.....I'll just leave it at that.....lol.....

Joe..... How are you? Hope all is well. The podcasts are great. Love them a lot. Can't wait to see you in Chicago. Take Care

iam gutted, when i saw joe back in 97,in Manchester Enland,i was very lucky to get his photo and autograph, after the show, and i had waited 2hours outside the arena once the show had finnished, and now after along search through my joe satriani stuff, ive just now realised my ex threw them out when we split up 5years ago,a big cheer for ex's.Neva mind,i be going to see joe next year sometime and who knows, lightning might strike twice and a photo and joes autogragh again,wish-full thinking.Joe is the king of guitars, when i saw him play, well, just blew my mind away.I still cant figure out how he does it,truly amazing, joe is like,Evis was the king of Rock and Roll,Bruce Lee was the king of kung fu,joe is the KIng of the guitars.

Do the Stu: thanks for your feedback on 'Why' and whether Joe's ever played this live (you replied a long while back, I haven't been on here for a while!). Couldn't manage to find any videos, but if I do I'll post them! Interesting he did it on the Strange Beautiful Music tour. Why is one of my fav satch tracks too, I love the stuff on the Extremist. For me Joe's high point was the Crystal Planet album.

I've been contemplating what I should do with my music a lot recently, how I can improve it etc. You seem quite a reputable character in Satchland, so I was wondering what you thought?! check out the 'fusion' album (most recent) here! Would appreciate your and anybody else's feedback!

Mountain Song has gotta be up there too!

Rock on.....Nick

Hi, It's very cool to find a area to write a message to Joe and his community of fan :) Just sorry for my english, i come from belgium and i don't was a good student in english at school ... (and in other study too).. So let's go !

I play guitar for 3 years and i record myself sometimes. I would like to know what do you think about this record :

http://periplenforum.e3b.org/zik/etencoreun.mp3

Is a guitarist or joe himself could give me advice for improved myself? (Yeah thank google translate XD) I try to learn the guitar alone, because I had teachers that gives me less eager to play that when I do it alone. So it's very difficult to find a good structure, a good way to learn effectively.

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Blue_Moon - How cool is stealing the hubby's guitar so I can see Joe & have him sign it! The stealing was easy because my husband has plenty of guitars and doesn't much use that one anymore. Now he's stuck teaching me to play; feel sorry for him because I have zero musical ability. But man, I Love Joe! I say "teach me to play Joe" and hubby laughs!

A little Satch Boogie to start the day, an some SWTA for good measure hr

MIchelle - they don't look as tired as they did for Montreux LOL. It almost felt like maybe they'd not long been playing together?

Do The Stu - thanks for the info on the Sansa. I take it it's light as well? It's sounding pretty good. I want something for long haul flights (like if I was nuts enough to come over for some more Satch) so mega capacity is good, but also light so I can use it when running.

Look forward to your comments ref SC.

Oh, BTW, above regarding the vids I posted of early Satch - when did JM, SH and Satch first start playing together? From memory, the first album credit is Flying - so is it possible those vids reflect some of the first stuff they did together or am I way off?

Blue Moon - nice playing as always, and enjoying the pedal dance. What's the next track you're going to do then?

JS1200JS1000 - things good for me thanks. Wish satch was coming back to europe already... awesome on those tickets, make sure you tell is all about the shows!

Satrionic1 - try youtube for vids (search some of the song titles before 1995) and do a google image search? Should be plenty of photos & vids out there

Cheese - ouch... tooth pain/dental work sucks.

Boogie + Chat from a GC session

E c h o .... I love that guitar, so much tone. Nice one Satch! Played by me :-O

I'm getting antsy...I want the rest of Joe's California tour dates so I can start planning my road trip!

Blue_Moon - Yeah, I thought Indy 4 was pretty terrible. It was cool because it was a new Indy movie, but that's all it had going for it. To me it felt like a cheap rip-off of The Mummy, and I hated that movie.

I didn't see The Happening, but I've never been too interested in any of M. Night Shyamalan's movies.

Have you seen The Strangers, by any chance? I thought that was a great twist on the typical horror movie.

Keniko - Haha...not quite. My point was that it was so hot in Long Beach that the "cold" water wasn't all that cool.
nickguitarmeistro - You're welcome...and welcome back! I don't remember what I said in my earlier post, so my apologies if I'm repeating myself here.

I'm almost positive Why was included in the webcast we got from the SBM tour, from Joe's gig in The Netherlands. I'll try to find it on my computer...I remember the concert being in four parts.

Crystal Planet is one of my top three Satch albums (along with ITLIS? and PSATMOR). The Extremist was one of my early favorites, but I haven't given it a proper listen in a long time. I'll need to get on that soon. On the topic of rare songs, Joe played Motorcycle Driver a few years ago...I think it was on one of the ITLIS? tour legs. That was a nice surprise.

Thanks for the link to your music. I do remember checking out a few of your songs a while ago, but I'm not sure if I commented on them. I don't have time to listen now (it's late and I need sleep), but I will again soon. If I haven't said anything in another day or so, yell at me and post the link again. ;-)

I have a long reply to Joe Satrini next...I'm going to post that separately.

...Austin...

Joe Satrini - Yeah, the Sansa View is small (2 inches by 4 inches or so, about the size of the older iPod Nanos) and light. It has a pretty big screen for its size, if you want to use it for video playback (I haven't used mine for that, but a sample video came loaded on it and the quality is much better than I would have expected).

I have the 16 GB player and the amount of music it holds is just insane. I'm sure you saw my post a few days ago (Is that what started this whole discussion?), but here's what I have on it at the moment. And that's even at a higher bitrate than normal (192 kb/s).

Yeah, you could get an MP3 player with a hard drive upwards of 30 GB, but flash players are advantageous in so many ways (faster, lighter, smaller, fewer parts that can break). And with the Sansa specifically, the drag-and-drop interface makes it so easy to change everything. So you can get by just fine without extra space (but if you need it, there's even an expansion slot for a flash memory card). Sorry for sounding like a commercial, but I really love this player...

Getting back to Satch...yeah, I think JM and SH first started playing with Satch on the SWTA tour in 1987 (I don't know if Joe toured in support of NOTE). So the videos you just posted are probably some of their earliest moments together. You can hear audio from the SWTA tour on Dreaming #11 and the second disc of Time Machine. And then of course there's the show on the DVD in the 20th anniversary edition of SWTA. I'm sure you know that though.

But you might not know...Joe played guitar on a few tracks on Stu's first solo album, Radio Free Albemuth, in 1988. And Jonathan Mover played drums on Stu's next album, Kings Of Sleep, in 1989.

I'm a bit fuzzy on Satch's early history because I didn't discover him until the late 90s. But he toured with the Bissonette brothers for The Extremist, and then brought Jonathan Mover back for the JS95 tour...I think with Stu as well. And Jeff Campitelli was involved with that tour in some form, maybe playing keyboards or rhythm guitar? And drums on a few songs too, I think. I don't know, though... JM and Joe had a falling out on that tour...it was discussed here a few years ago, if you dig through the T2J archives you can find it.

OK, I could talk about Satch forever...but I need sleep.

I still have my SC notes...I'll post them soon.

...Austin...
