Hello Joe, Just want to thank you and your band members for coming to the GTaranaki festival in New Plymouth. You were awesome, your music is out of this world!. I'm still buzzing with the energy of it 4 days later, thank you so much and I can't wait to see you play again :)

Austin, my daughter has seen Dark Knight 2x already. She said it's one of the best movies she's seen. She said Ledger is brilliant. She was telling me that in the theater today when she went, some girl bought in her newborn baby, and her girlfriend had a toddler girl who was whining before the movie even started. The girl with the toddler finally got off her ass and took the kid out, but the girl with the newborn stayed. She don't know if the girl and the toddler came back in after the movie started. Nice LOUD scary movie to take yer babies to. *shakes head*

T-bones, when you get a chance, send me an email and let me know what all these tears are about.

Anybody remember THIS tune?

Alexandre, hello honey! Me and my family are well and I hope you are too. I bet Hadji looks cool like Joe with no hair ;-) Stew and Sully are good also. They can't wait till it cools down a bit outside so we can open the windows for some fresh air. Now it's to hot, and the AC stays on most days. Stay cool my friend! hugs**

Dear Joe, IIt was great to meet you prior to the show in Melbourne on 11.7.08. Thankyou again for signing my guitar and answering our questions so patiently and thoughtfully. I have the guitar set up really well now and I love how it sounds, especially the sustain characteristics and the range of tones. The concert was superb. I hope you will be doing a DVD of this series of concerts featuring the latest album. Great sound, awesome "act". I was thrilled when I went to your site today and found the new feature on taking lessons from you as I find it impossible to get to a good teacher with my current work schedule. I have been using your books, CDs and DVDs to try to get the right sound. I get a kick out of nailing a riff or rhythm piece but this will help immensley. If it helps to put a face to the name I was the guy who asked you to talk about the Mysterion and how you choose the "voice" of the guitar when recording and playing. Regards, Greg Nash

Yer right about that Mc, there was no need in the end for what happened, but the dad dint know it until it was too late, ye ken? If I were him, at that point my mind would just snap. (And no need to tell me mine's already gone, I'm well aware of that >:(

Here's a nice interview with Joe for his Mini Colossal amp

Dang it's turned cold up here, heading down into the 50's for the night, and every time the hotel doors open I get a whoosh of really cold air on me here at the puter.....I only brought "hot" clothes *shivers*

Warm yer fingers up Austin, only a lil over one more day to go before we buy....

Chad....it's been quite a year for you, hasn't it. As for me...still here. You be careful on the job, eh?

Matt: and good words of wisdom they are too! On reflection, I probably like the red finish more now anyway, it highlights the guitar's natural lines better. Plus, it's more in yer face...which is always good.

Riding on and off road has been something that has just been there for all my life. Unfortunately around where I live there is really no oppurtunity for off-roading, so I just maintain my interest on road. Great hobby though. Do you prefer downhilling or the more restrained genres of the sport?

Does anyone want to place bets on who gets better tickets for Satch's Reno show? Me or Tracie? ;-) It's ON!!! About 32 hours to go...

mjs99 - Awesome...thanks for sharing your pictures. It's nice to see that the other band members are in quite a few of 'em, too...
Keniko - I didn't quite mean it that way either...I was just trying to make a bit of a joke, I guess. And I failed. ;-)

I'm not here long enough to listen to the clips now, but I'll get to them sometime soon.

Igneousiceman - I'd definitely wait until they have the guitar you want. Don't put a deposit down if they'll get an Ibanez shipment on their own soon...just hold tight. If you're spending a lot of money on something like a guitar there should be no reason why everything about it isn't exactly the way you want it.
denommers - Hi...welcome to the site. Joe uses a DigiTech whammy pedal in Searching...maybe that's what you're missing?
michelle - I don't see many movies, but man did I LOVE The Dark Knight. I think Heath Ledger is excellent as well. He IS the part, and it'll definitely win an Oscar next year.

I don't know if I'd take someone so young to a movie like this...that's a bit crazy. Annoyances to everyone else aside, it'll be a fun story for the kid. My parents insist that I saw Return of the Jedi in theaters when I was just a few months old (it was released on my birthday)...that's very cool, even though they say I slept through most of the movie.

roxyone - Hi...welcome to the site! :-) Satch's Paris show from a few months ago was recorded for an upcoming CD/DVD release.
elpp - Thanks for the link...the venue looks very nice. If I'm ever in Texas... ;-)

DoTheStu: Thanks for the advice pal...but now I am sure that I prefer the red one (the one that is there at the moment). Off to get it now!

Without wanting to be seen to come down on either side of the fence, I hope both you and Tracie get the tickets =D

Medusauser, my amp line in studio, for "Crystal Planet", was mostly Peavey 5150, Wells Amp, Zoom, Sans Amp and Marshall 6100. The 6100 was used the least! You never can tell what will work best in the studio. I hope this sheds some light on the subject... Joe...

Hi everyone. My 1st post here. Joe rules (of course), but what other guitarists influence your playing (and just your ear drums in general)? To ME a VERY close 2nd to Joe is The Edge. I LOVE his masterful use of effects. Next would be Hendrix. I love him for his ability to be noisy AND beautiful. To round out a top 5 is David Gilmour (possibly my favorite BAND the ol' Floyd). Gilmour is a guy who just knows what to play and never gets it wrong. As pick 5 i have an oddball (in most circles) pick, Jim Martin of the former Faith No More. Jim is my metal rock icon. I'm excited to see everyones list and explanations. Glad to be registered here. I JUST WANNA ROCK!!!

Wow...Joe posted after me. I'm honoured. =D Lovely to see he's till taking time out to 'be here'...

bol316: I agree with you about Gilmour, he has amazing feel. Doesn't necessarily play a lot of notes-but they are from the heart. Jimmy Page is another one worth a note-- as is Hendrix!!!!

Well, I've bought it. Have a look at my Photostream for a quick pic.

Cube : if you found that you are lost, this means that maybe you are less lost than you think.

Nick : I don't know. But it's not only Joe. All that i know, is that Joe is come with his first cds during the 80's. During these years, if i remember well, there was a general climate in rock where several drummers played like machine. Just the essential with a perfect timing.. 70's were different.

If you check the 70's ZZtop cds & the 80's ones, drums parts are very different. The paradox is that playing like a metronome is very hard. I mean, it's a great performance... but it brings frustration to the drums lovers.

In parallel, 90's have seen the explosion of beat & techno.

To go back to Joe, we know that he's definitly obsessed by tone experiment.. so this explains that. It's his part. Those who want to eat some drums must eat elsewhere.

Igneous : As evh said once, the Jimmy Page's solos talk. In his time, was considered as a virtuoso.

But want to add that Page is before all a rythmical player &, that's a point, a genius of rock composition.

Good Morning Satchland......How Is Everyone ?

Hey Joe !!!!

It's good to see you postin' again. Cindy and I got our tix to the Chicago show in the mail yesterday. We both can't wait to see you again. Thanks again for all your hard work and great music. God Bless.....

Do The Stu...... No worries mate. I took no offense. Let me know what you think of those songs. They're a little departure from what I play but I like the songs. The band is doing great and Riche is awesome to work with as the rest the band is also. I'm glad I made the move cuz' now I can concentrate on just playing guitar and not have to worry about the vocals to much. I'm Free......

Cosmic_Ape......Hey what up Aaron? I have a JSX head also. The best amp I have ever owned. The guys in the new band I joined are amazed on my tone. Man, I love this amp. Joe signed the head during the Guitar Center meet-n-greet in April. Take Care.....

Thanks Joe !!!!!

Speaking of Joe.....I got the new issue of Guitar World and Joe is everywhere in there. Ibanez ad for the SWTA guitar, mini review on the Satchurator, Joe endorsing Cad and Planet Waves. A smile came to my face cuz' like many of us we've watched him grow through out the years and no one deserves it more than Joe. Period......

Have A Great Day Everyone !!!!!!

Zenfish: Achilles's is probably my fav Zep song. Another great thing about Page was how he didn't feel constrained by what others were doing at the time--all you have to do is look at Dazed and Confused to see what I mean!

Here's a thought (possibly already expressed), how about getting Bonamassa on the next G3 tour? Well, what about it Joe (both of you...) =D

The new guitar plays wooonderfulkily and sounds great too! Had to do a bit of DIY to get the strap locks to fit though...

Ken: I agree, Joe deserves more people than us to think that as well!!

Hey Guys :-)

Firstly Joe Satch, I have a questiones for thee: would you use a dynamic mic like a SM57 to mike up your amp in the studio or something more like a large diaphragm condenser? I've tried a 57 out and gotten fairly ok results considering, but I really had to blast my amp pretty loud :-) I'm thinking a condenser would provide a richer, warmer sound, but am not sure, lots of people seem to have different opinions on this one!

If anyone else can shed some light on this one as well?!

Do the Stu: Souls of distortion is a truly epic track, I love the drum fill at the start and the bluesy guitar solo too.... the drums are loud but definitely live though. Thats your fav satch album right? I like Lifestyle as well - wicked blues solo.

Igneousjohnicemandude - The Serpent's Promise is a wierd one..... interesting you were listening to it, I just embarked on writing it out for other band members to follow! Rock on.

Some of my friends are in South America at the moment, said its amazing

and wasnt there some Soldano SLO's used on teh extremist? the guitar tones rock on that album, and the hats are reaaaaly loud and sizzly, kinda cool

and use as many mics as u can, its always good to have the good ole 57 on there, but mic each speaker on the cab or even add a room mic, mix it up, usualy a dynamic paired with a condenser mic is good enough for decent results

Hey Joe!! See ya in Philly. We're bringing our son with this time :-)

Fred, great Achilles Last Stand video!

Igneousiceman, nice pics. Beautiful scenery.

Austin, you and Tracie are the biggest Satch whores! Multiple shows every tour. Always in the front rows. Ahhh, ya both are gonna get great seats anyways. The contest should be who gets to the venue first. I know Tracie wins that one every time! lol!

Wooleyman, it's a great song for a buzz, isn't it. lol!

Bimos, you named your daughter Gita Satriani Biantari after Joe. That's cool.

Cheese, Joe in make-up? lol! Where oh where can we find that? lol!

Ken, we get Guitar Player, and every time I see Joe's picture in it, I have to turn the mag around and show my husband (or whoever else is in the room) "Look, there's my Joe!" In this months issue there's a nice Paul Gilbert interview, and 10 Things You Gotta Do To Play Like Eric Johnson.
