the other weird thing about the stone roses is most people i ask always say they prefer the 1st album-but when asked they've never listened to the 2nd (second coming) so i guess the reviewers really did a hatchett job on it. you might not like the vocals-you might really like them.

I've seen a lot of messages lately about everyone's experience seeing Joe live. I must say I'm impressed and envious! I sure wish Joe was able to make Oklahoma a regular stop. But hey! Soul To Strings...... Yeah, I have a JSX head. Look at my Fender forum post. It's the best amp I've ever owned. I don't have the amp knowledge you have or used a lot of tube amps you've listed in the forum.......but I know what sounds good......and to me and for me it's the best amp. You can play anything with this amp.....Blues,Metal,Rock Country......it doesn't matter it's all in there. The controls are so responsive. You just move any knob slightly and you can hear a tonal change. Perfect for Tweak Heads. Not like the old Bandmaster days where say 5 to 10 isn't much of a change. On the back there's effect send/return jacks each with there own level control, a line out with level, tube biasing hole. Plus if you take the back plate off there's a switch on the chassie to change from 6L6's to EL34's. I haven't done this yet cuz I love how sounds. Joe also added a functional noise gate that's adjusted on the front. The channel footswitch has three switches and a interesting twist with channel led's and switching. First off the manual channel switch on the front pannel has to be set to Ultra for the footswitch to function properly. There's no led for the Crunch channel....only Effects,Clean and Ultra. You normally depress the channel you want to use and going from Crunch to Ultra works just like that. With the Crunch not illuminated and the Clean (green led) off you know your in Crunch. Depressing the Crunch switches to Ultra(Red led) Here's where it gets interesting. Say your in the Clean channel and you want to go to Ultra and you look down and the Crunch/Ultra's led is not on.(Crunch) You can depress the switch to go to Ultra(Red led) because you have to depress the Clean channel to switch to Ultra/Crunch. This takes time to get use to but when you really look at it. It's a pretty clever design. This amp does and has everything you need. If your in the market for a tube amp. In my early days learning it was Clapton and Hendrix that inspired me. The Layla and Electric Ladyland albums were the musical bibles for me along with The Allman Bros. Live at the Fillmore East. Landmark alums for sure. Hugs to you.

Michelle ..... You're right John Petrucci certainly is the king of riffage. His guitars are so low and crunchy....Tunnel Vision is kick ass lol. And honor thy father as well! Awesome stuff. The Glass Prison is another fave of mine too!!

Do the Stu.....yeah I the crowd wasn't that receptive at all towards Rob Fripp, I think I'd appreciate him a lot more these days than when I saw him :-) The way I remember it was him at the back of the stage, you couldn't really see him that well... and he was kind've playing his guitar through a synth for a while. But no offence to him saying that!

Skippygirl....I'm sure I could turn up to play a mass satch cover....sounds like a logistical nightmare though getting it all together!

Zenfish - Jonny Lang is a few years younger than KWS. I think he's just as good of a guitarist as KWS. I get what you say about him lacking some creativity, and I think there's more variety in JL's music. It doesn't have the "wow" factor that some KWS does, and at first listen you might think JL is more of a singer than a guitarist, but if you see him live he's really great. I'm actually going to see him tomorrow.

If you're interested, check out Lie To Me (his first single, you may have heard it 10 or so years ago)...if you get impatient, the solos are at 1:30 and 3:00. And then check out this clip of him jamming with Buddy Guy...although I guess it's more Buddy than Jonny.

John Petrucci is the guitarist for Dream Theater (not sure if you knew that)...most of his albums are with them; he only has one solo album. He wrote entirely new music before the G3 2001 tour. So that stuff is on this album recorded a few years later, along with some other things.

I'm not sure if you know much Dream Theater, but think Yes+Rush+Metallica+Iron Maiden and you'll get an idea of what they're about. My introduction to his playing was through Liquid Tension Experiment, an instrumental side project that's 3/5 of Dream Theater with Tony Levin of King Crimson on bass/chapman stick. LTE may be the best place to start.

There was just a 5.8 earthquake in Chino Hills (near Pomona, about halfway between LA to the west and San Bernardino to the east) a few minutes ago.

I felt it here in Long Beach...things were shaking quite a bit, but nothing fell from the walls.

FYI, the Northridge 1994 quake was 6.7.

When you sweet pick do you use part of your right hand to to stop notes from sounding out when you lift your fingers of them?

A quick update...

It seems like the quake was in a fairly deserted area, so I don't expect there to be any serious damage or major injuries.

I'm about 40 miles southwest of the epicenter...I doubt there's any damage at all here in Long Beach. I live in an old building though, so it did shake quite a bit.

I'll post more when I get into work in a few hours, but I think everything is generally OK.

I sure like the new tones he's getting with it, i'm sure it is amazing.

I really like the raw rock tones, sounds kinda like ACDC meets ZZ Top on several rhythm tones.
