Oh there's no problem with mentioning Rush, it's just that whenever someone does we end up talking about them for a few days...which is actually quite good! By the way, they are the cover stars of Classic Rock magazine this month. About time too...=D

Just watched the Live In San Franciso dvd, I must say it was rather good. Big bad moon is a very cool track.

Igneousiceman - Yeah, I get what you're saying about a lot of U2's music sounding the same. I sorta see that, although it doesn't bug me too much. Then again, my favorite albums are The Unforgettable Fire and Achtung Baby...and those are practically on different sides of the musical spectrum. Maybe that's why I like 'em... ;-)

byrne - Hi...Cryin' is currently in the set, you should hear that one when you see Joe.

Additional Creations is the only place you can find Turkey Man...I'd suggest looking on Ebay.

symphonyofnames - Aaand here we go...what's your favorite Rush album? :-)
Listening to: Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place (current song: The Only Moment We Were Alone)

Alot of U2s current music does sound the same. U2 has gotten a bit lazy. But to think that U2s catalog as a whole sounds the same is pure musical ignorance. Like i said before The Edge comes in a close 2nd to Joe as my favorite guitarist. More the Joshua Tree/Zoo TV/Popmart live Edge though. I feel like he is too held back on the studio albums sometimes.

So does Joe always use the same exact guitars each show? or does he get new ones each show?

Elpp-yea I kno college is important, and I will go but it's not like a $300 ticket to see Joe is going to change that! thats what I meant, not that I wasn't going to college just for Joe's concert. but thanx for the advice tho.

John-How's the guitar treating ya? improve your tone much?

tune of the day-professor satchafunkilus.

wheres the love for this tune? its great!

I guess U2 garner alot of different opinions.

one odd observation they seemed to start off very straight-then go weirder, like some sort of drugs phase, now they seem kinda relaxed with themselves.

I am getting to know "Is there love in space?" better... This album has really grown on me... I like the mastering a lot (even though it's still a bit loud)... The songs are very well written, it's funny most of Joe's albums grow on me after a couple of listenings. The only one that didn't fully grown is the new PSATMOR... I guess because it sounds like "AM radio".

They should be on the cover. They should also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Favorite album by Rush... Moving Pictures of course, and I really love 2112 as well.

What kind of guitars/basses do you all play?

I really liked that you gave on that concert so much value to your songs which I also give lots of value.. For example.. I've been finishing learning crying exactly one day before the concert and Mr. Satchafunkilus played that one song with so much care for every note like it had all to be perfect... ^.^ Keep it all up, professor..! Brazil will always support you with many fans

Your music is what got me into guitar playing. I just cant wait. I know that you struggle to meet the ever increasing demands of your fans and it must be very difficult. I am EXREMELY happy that I get to hang out with you for one whole hour! If by some chance you happen to get to read this message, just remember that I will be there. Thank you very much.

Thanks to all of you guys for your good wishes, it means a lot...

Austin, actually I am on the road already... I'm staying at a motel somewhere in New Mexico right now...
The school is located in the middle of Hollywood, so I'd be living right there... I'm hoping to get there by Monday, but classes don't start 'til October, so I've got some time to get settled... Maybe we could meet during a JOE show... I'm not sure if I'm attending to any of them yet, though... There's a whole lot of things that I have to take care of first...

Hey Ignatiousman, thanks for the suggestion, I have seen an Ibanez RG Trem series here in some stores and that would be a very nice guitar to have.

Problem is my budget is around 200 euros as I live in Greece, and this Squire Strat will be about 145 euros ordered straight from the factory.

I know...thats very expensive, whereas you could probably get those for about 100-120 US dollars here in Europe everything is more expensive so I would be paying around 180 US dollars for the strat, and that's just about all I can afford.

I saw a JS 1200 in this one store and tried it out, oh man I'll never feel a nicer guitar than that. But you wanna know the price tag? 2600 euros around 5000 US dollars so yeah we get ripped off here in Europe. I don't make much money that I don't spend on necessities and so my fun savings climbs very slowly....

Anyway, thanks for the idea, I'll certainly give it some more thought, my only thing against the squire strat is it doesn't have the locking nut and so it would maybe slip out of tune easily....but oh well....

Thanks

WhammyFreak

ZincMaster: Mid 90's as well but dry. We already had our requisite 3 weeks over 100 degrees at the beginning of June, now it's comfortable. Sure beats Phoenix heat!!

Shredmaster77: Wolf2 has been posting this stuff for a looooooong time. It makes for an interesting read. Plus his doctor just told him he's unbelievably strong, so don't mess with him!! :)

Guitarman77897: I see your point, and agree with it. As far as Joe's guitars, I've seen him on back-to-back nights twice, and he did play the same guitars from one night to the other. Now, if you mean that he has 15 exact replicas and he uses a different one every night, I wouldn't think so.

I didn't realize Cryin' is on the current setlist. I've never seen Joe play it live, hopefully it'll stay for the El Paso show. I absolutely LOVE that song.

Later!

I supose the whole U2 thing can be summed by saying that they are a bunch of musicians not afraid to try out new (or old) things and ideas. There we go...the definitive definition of U2 =D

Matt: it can be summed up in one word: GREAT!!! Lovely neck that helps me play quicker and more accurately, great sounding pickups---and I've fixed the wobbly trem arm prob. How's yours anyway? Similar story I imagine...

symphonyofnames: That's what they said in the magazine! I really like Moving Pictures as well. But then I also like Hold Your Fire. And Snakes and Arrows. Oh, not to forget Signals. Or Counterparts...=D

Wait, haven't I heard all this before?! ***cough*** DoTheStu ***cough*** ;-)

I play an Ibanez RG1570 and SA36fm. Plus my old guitar on loan from my uncle. I also own a cheap Yamaha bass...not much really =D

WhammyFreak: Hmmm. I know what you mean. I was tempted to try a JS1200 once but the price was around £1200 which is just toooo much for someone in my position. I had a Squier strat for a while, it didn't stay in tune very well.BUT there are things you can do to rectify that. For a start, try replacing the machineheads with better quality ones, Wilkinson do good stuff cheaply. Also, if you can try the guitar out before you buy it, as some may be better at staying in tune than others. Judging by your nickname I assume you wouldn't want to do this, but you could get hold of some extra springs for the trem system itself and 'lock it down', that is, stop it moving. That would help a lot with tuning stability, but that is no good for Satch stuff!! Good luck! =D

Joe, As the Mayor of Lodi, California, most people that know I am a life long Satch fan are shocked. I drive down the road, your music blasting, feeling like a kid. I still get goose bumps with songs like Satch Boogie & Borge Sex. I check your site on a regular basis to see if you will be touring somewhere close to Lodi, waiting with baited breathe for tickets to go on sale. After listening to you for over 20 years, I can't believe I still get so excited about seeing you again live! In the mist of the awesome responsiblity I have serving as Mayor and councilmember of my city, I say thank you Professor. You are my Calgon! JoAnne
