I have been a fan of yours since "Surfing with the Alien" came out 20 whatever years ago. THis latest album ....well let me just say ....I would have paid $100.00 for it. You keep developing and pushing the envelope. You were born to Rock and I want a bumper sticher that says" Thank God he sent us Satch!"Absolutely fantastic new album Professor!

elpp...my son and I are big DT fans as well, but so far have only managed to see them twice live...the first time we stood one foot from John Petrucci all night long and it was just incredible!! I think that show put my son into a permanent coma, LOL!! We love and appreciate all the members of the band for their expertise at their chosen instrument, but he's a guitar player too, so to be that close to Petrucci....heaven for him. :) And as much as we love DT...Joe tops everything! I guess that shows in the number of times we've seen Joe, vs DT :)

And so far, he's been playing Summer Song....but it's such a fun and upbeat song, just dance to it and you'll get through, lol! Personally, Joe could play air guitar on a song or two and we'd still enjoy it.....addicts that we are, lol! Did someone say crack?

Hey cuth.....now my brain is working overtime, trying to remember what we talked about....I have vague notions, so am sorry to hear that and hope everything works out for your wife and kids.....hang in there, and if it will help....a hug for you all (((cuth & family)))

Revan....I thought Cloverfield promised a lot by the picture and description on the movie jacket...and then didn't deliver. It was too vague and they took the "homemade movie" concept too far so that it became annoying instead of making it feel more real. I also hated the ending, being left hanging like that. To each his own I guess :)

Chin up my chelle-belle...don't u get a weekend off again soon? I hate u working weekends too, the world's axis shifts and it ain't no fun. :|

Kt, which show did u see?

It's fecking early here, I was awake at 6 when I dint have to be. The damn birds are exceedingly cheerful and very noisy too, FFS! Anyone have a tranquilizer gun handy...for ME?

ZFish: I heard some things about Rhoads that amount to that, plus Marshall just released the RR signature amp so I've read a bit about him recently. I must say I didn't really like Malmsteen from those vids--but then I was slightly put off Joe by the really fast Legato in Ice 9 when I first heard him, so maybe if I give it some time...Good to see a guitarist playing with an Orchestra though, really accentuates what makes the guitar unique. Thanks for the vids... Of course we haven't mentioned Clapton yet, any thoughts?

roffler: I've never heard of Les Cheetham, bu he seems to be a farily good player...

Ok, I'm feeling decidedly left out here, is there anyone out there who hasn't met (or seen) Joe? ***sniffle*** =D

Sastre has won the Tour, seemed like a nice guy. So, now I offer my congratulations to Sastre, and condolences to Evans.

Hmmm...I actually like working weekends. Saturdays are tough sometimes, but Sundays are EASY. News rarely happens on Sunday, so it's always an easy day of the week. And because I work a swing shift (something like 2-11 p.m. normally) it's like I get two weekends...on Saturday and Sunday it's a weekend all morning, and then I get another one whenever my days off are for the week.

Anyway, to add more detail to my earlier post, here are the Satch shows I've seen. Anyone want to guess when I got my own car? I think it's obvious when looking at this list... ;-)

- 04/12/00, Sacramento; EOC opening night
- 12/28/00, San Francisco
- 12/29/00, San Francisco; LISF recording
- 07/01/01, Clear Lake (Konocti); G3 with Steve Vai and John Petrucci
- 08/11/02, Concord
- 10/18/03, Los Angeles; G3 with Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen
- 04/15/04, West Hollywood; ITLIS? in-store
- 09/04/04, Los Angeles; jam with Deep Purple
- 12/26/04, San Francisco
- 12/27/04, San Francisco; jam with Doug Doppler and Neal Schon
- 04/07/05, Anaheim; webcast interview with Joe
- 04/08/05, Ventura

Igneous : Malmsteen is not for everybody.

Never really been into Clapton. He's an high figure of the British Boom, at the side of John Mayall in the Bluesbreaker, & inside the Yardbirds.

He has been an awesome pioneer of Bluesrock, with Cream. That's a point. He is the father of the electric power trio.

If we talk about Bluesrock, i prefer broadly Alvin Lee & Ten Years After.

Hey Joe,

What if you had the chance to go hear Hendrix alive... What if this would happen when you were starting to develop your skills in the guitar playing “language”, and you get the opportunity to see him communicate through his “little strat wing”... Would that be amazing and inspiring? Well, you can, then just imagine how I felt when my wife called me the other day and said you would play in my hometown. I’m from the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte (which, by the way, nicely means “Beautiful Horizon”) and I’m eager to be at your concert next Friday. It’s very nice that this is going on right now. After a lot of things going on in my life, I finally could manage to get a cool job (I’m currently working with flight tests for a big Brazilian aircraft factory, and I get paid to fly high in great jet machines and soar through our amazing Brazilian blue skies). Besides, I could finally afford a decent guitar and I think you can understand how it feels to fly through the music... By the way, I wonder if I could get you to sign my new guitar. It would mean a lot to me (imagine if Hendrix could sign yours when you were beginning to learn it, back on the 70s). It’s really something, and I feel privileged. As I started learning the guitar, I cared for listening as much music as I could, keeping an opened mind to the creative and unusual construction of all sorts of music and that’s how I got to your work, which I learned to appreciate, with special interest on how you construct a way to communicate your ideas through the different rhythms, chords and scales, mainly in songs like “Made of Tears” and “If”. I’m an aviation guy and I have a special respect for the landscape, ambience and feel, and this has its reflects on music – tone, soul... In Portuguese, another word for rhythm would be “levada” which means something like “carried away”.

So, music really means something, and you do a very good job in honoring “the muses’ art”. Congratulations for doing a great job, and “hear” you on Friday...

Chad....we've done aftershows with Joe 9 of those times...and only one of them was because I got Platinum tix. The rest....we've been very lucky to win aftershows, or blessed to be given them. Don't ask me how, cuz I have no idea... but we've loved every minute we've spent with Joe. He means an awful lot to both Chris and me.

I would wish the same good fortune for all of Joe's fans....but the poor guy hasta rest and eat some time, lol!

Check this out! Seems like I've been to 5 G3 shows. I wonder if everything on this page is correct. If it is, it's pretty good info. Brings back some good memories too :-) I've been going to Satch shows since 1996.

I dunno, I think my fave was G3 '01with Satch, Vai, & Petrucci. That line up kicked so much ass. Seeing Petrucci play his own music balls to the wall was just killer - not to mention the jam. My second fave might be Satch, Petrucci, and Gilbert. That was woweewoowoowooo! Feckin incredible!

Does anyone have any favorite goosebump moments from a G3 show? Some of mine are...

when Eric Johnson hit the opening riff of Cliff Of Dover and every hair on my body stood up.

Yngwie almost stepping on my fingers with his big white boots as he stood directly over me wailing a solo bit. He's very entertaining, that one is. LOL!

the first time Joe waved to me during a jam and said "Hi Michelle!" I didn't even know he knew who I was! lmao!

this last G3 when Joe bent down in front of me and told me to play his whammy. THAT was a one in a million i can die happy now moment! omfg! lol!

and many, many after show moments and meeting other Satchaholics.

Good times man, good times!
