I couldn't agree more. You got all these people out here that strive to play and sound like Satriani , Slash , SRV , Van Halen or whoever , they gotta sound exactly note for note who they are emulating. It's one thing to be able to copy another persons sound (though it lacks personal expression), it's another thing to be able to create and innovate something different that hasn't really been heard before. Lets get real here , we are all sick of the same generic bubble gum crap that we are force fed everyday to listen to. If someone can create something that isn't a reincarnation of something that has already done a thousand times then go for it.

p.s. Remember music ain't all about looking good and all that.Just think of the Rolling Stones, they aren't the prettiest bunch but damn they know the blues.(there are many other performers to pick on for appearance but I'll leave it at this)

DoTheStu: I know! I felt honoured...on the 'sprinter line' the track is about 200 or 250m, I can't remembet which...Riding higher up the banking however increases the distance. So really, it depends where you ride; I found it hard when doing my lap to keep to the shortest line...so I have lots of respect for those who race around places like that. =D

dakawan: Hopefully he'll be winning GB a fair few medals...Interestingly, I've also met Phil Liggett! He seemed like a nice guy as well

Unfortunately I didn't get to speak to Cav. as he was deep in conversation with his coach/trainer/friend at the time, but my mum caught him when I was on the track. =D

Right, I am off on holiday (again) for TWO weeks. I am going to ask nicely,( as last time despite me mentioning it you all still posted a lot) but firmly. Sod it pleasepleaseplease don't post too much! =D

maritime: Very philosophical thoughts and quotes there...

I leave you with this quote that Mr. George Bush said: "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." —Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

Don't you just love politicians? =D

well HELLO WEBMASTER!

I thought you had gone to that great gig in the sky ...you bin gone so long!

WELCOME BACK!

I haven't been drawing for ages....but I started Slash the other day...and I am nearly finished!

Ibanezplyr - how are you? thanks for posting the pictures.

Revan 2008 - hmmm I am just getting into a bit of Extreme myself...I hear they are gigging in the UK shortly

Maritime - thanks for the PG interview...strange....this bit

Is the title track of your new album a reference to the moment before you switch on your amp?

Ha ha, I can't remember where the title came from but once I heard it I loved it and actually I came up with it before I had the song. But I liked it 'cos it sort of obligated me to somehow to produce the 'Deafening Roar'. The silence is easy enough to make but now I had to make the 'Deafening Roar'.

On the album cover thingy he says that the silence refers to when he was moving house and he couldn't play much and the roar was when he got back on his guitar.....he must have a goldfish brain like me...

or

maybe we are just both getting old! LOL

The Fireman - Welcome back! Hows your wife now?

Joe Satrini - Welcome home...er in a few days!

Hugs Satriella xx

dear joe my name is drew and i'm thirteen and one of your biggest fans when you came to natick ma, my dad took the day off of work to take me and my mom to see you as they are fans too. we had a great time. my parents, for my birthday july 29 got tickets for your upcoming concert Oct. 14, at the orpheum theater in boston,ma. they were supposed to be in the middle orchestra 9 rows from the stage and ended up being in the left orchestra and the three seats aren't even together(this is not what we ordered and we paid $400.00) we tried to straighten this out with the company that sold them they basically said to bad, then my dad called his credit card co., to ask if they would take it off his credit card and mail back the tickets so we could then purchase suitable tickets to the event and they said to bad too. Joe,if you can help(603)668-1167 or email kitten31520@peoplepc.com. this has turned into a nightmare, which was supposed to be a dream of a lifetime

Once again I couldn't agree more , so let me sum up this discussion with this thought. Music is an art form , people need to stop coping out and being lazy posers with no creative initiative . This isn't a grade school popularity contest. Persons with even the slightest bit of intelligence can figure this out. It's one thing to drawn inspiration from another player but if you don't develop your own personal playing features your just riding the coat tails of someone who created before you and that, I'm sorry, has no musical integrity .

p.s. maybe Metallica should go after all the bands that sound like them, give Lars something new to do.

Joe-

The new album (can we still call it that?) is fantastic. "Come On Baby is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard." I really hope someday you can do an album all that style. Not necessarily blues like "Joe Satriaini", but just mellow, ballady stuff. Stuff like Come On Baby, Always w/ Me, Home, You Saved My Life, Just Look Up, Etc.

I'm really looking forward to the show at The Orpheum in Boston. This will be my fiancee's introduction to the world of Professor Satchifunkilus, and I'm sure it will be a great one. On that note, it would be tremendously cool if you could dedicate "Always w/Me, Always w/You" to Mike and Meg!

Hey everyone! Been a while since I've been around here. I had a few days off of work this week and recorded a new short piano and guitar piece. Give it a listen and let me know what you all think!

This Feeling

Edit: I know the piano sounds distant. Not sure what happened when I was mixing, I think the reverb setting got screwed up somehow. I'm probably going to re-record it and add strings. I'll post the 2nd version if anyone is interested.

im sure somebody wud recrod it, prob just a few of my own songs and maybe a joe song for fun i guess :)

and yeah i tried lost of stuff so far, PT just wont open normally on its own, sometimes it does, and wen it does, i try and get the gutiar in, it may work for a second then if i try and record it will say the hardware buffer size isnt big enough, then it will say the audio clock has an error, then there will be a bung of pops and clicks, the audio will get distorted and then it will jsut stop, i might jsut try it in another usb port

or sometimes it will just not open at all and say the DAE has a problem, the digidesign help is useless, its pretty damn annoying!!!

so my toutube account got deleted and my soundcrd is goin crazy, fun last few days :)

Al<Thats exactly what happened t me, i uploaded the new drivers tho from the Digidesign site & so far AT LAST my gear is working & sounding great

Also if you move the ilok key t another USB port that tends t mess things up dunno why

There was a bug fix made for PT a year ago cuz the program would store for no reason whatsoever what you record into another carpet, hence the DAE/ Buffer alerts pops n farts etc, drove me nuts cuz at that point no new drivers were available t make Mac Pro 10.4 compatible with PTLE 7.3... why cant they just make gear that WORKS straight out the box these days

So after seeing some recent videos, I think Joe should go into his closet and find the pants with flames on 'em that he wore almost every night of the SBM tour. They'd go well with the black shirt with the white scribbles that he's wearing every night of this tour. ;-)

thefireman - I know I talked to you in the chat last night but I saw your post here and wanted to say it's nice to see you around here again. Hopefully you're able to make it to a gig this tour...
Skippygirl - Yeah, the interview was awesome. I had so many questions and Joe and everyone was running a bit late that day so I didn't get to spend as much time interviewing as I would have liked.

Everyone loved it though...and I'll never forget the expression on Mick's face each time I asked one of my crazy out-there questions that us T2Jers have been dying to know the answer to forever...

Anyway...it's cool to hear you're still working on your Satch collection. I haven't listened to that G3 2005 album in quite a while...I need to dig it out again...

cheese101 - "Austin did do a great job, and we talked with him both before and after the interview at that show"

Thanks... I still think it's funny that I was out there in line that whole afternoon with you, and I decide to walk back to my car for two minutes to go get something...and in that time Jon had come outside, taken a bunch of pictures, and then gone back inside. Argh...

I do remember how we got to hear the soundcheck from outside, though...that was very cool.

Igneousiceman - Asking us to post less isn't the answer...you need to only go on vacations if you have internet access and can check up on the board while you're away. ;-)

Seriously, though, I hope you have a good time...wherever you go and whatever you end up doing.

Guitarmiester - Very cool song...you're right about the piano being distant, though. It sounds like it was being played in another room down the hall from where you were recording guitar.

It sounds good though...I'd be interested in hearing your next version of it.

Listening to: Dave Matthews Band - Where Are You Going (9/7/02; George, WA)
