I saw Sammy Hagar and the Wabos tonight (opening for The Scorpions, who were good, but I'm not really a fan). Sammy put on a GREAT show...the set was a nice mix of stuff from throughout his career. A guest guitarist jammed on a few songs...I didn't catch his name, but I think it was Billy Duffy from The Cult.

Oh, and some guy named Michael Anthony came out and played/sang some Van Halen songs. He did Good Enough (a very nice surprise), Why Can't This Be Love and Best Of Both Worlds, and then he finished out the set with Sammy.

It was so cool to see such big smiles on both of their faces. And to be honest, it makes me feel mad at the Van Halen brothers. But hey, it's their loss...I think it's going to be awesome to see what Satch can do with these guys. :-)

js1200js1000 - Hmmm...I see this. I'm not sure why it's being released...or why it was, as it looks like it's already out.

Joe, do you have any more info?

Brave Saint - Interesting...I never knew Jeff did any work with Five Iron Frenzy. To say it's a bit of a deparature from Satch is an understatement, but I'm sure it sounds very cool. Thanks for the info.
michelle - "I'd rather play Joe's whammy bar than have to interview him."

HAVE to interview him? You make it sound like such a chore. ;-) I loved it, and wish I could do it again sometime. Maybe I'll make it my mission to try to pull a michelle and play his whammy bar at one of the shows later this year.

symphonyofnames - Yes. :-)

Looking forward to the DT before the one I've got.

Extreme are touring again! A new single apparently, anyone heard it? Any good?

Listening to Joe Satriani 'the Extremist', all of it.

I've noticed something; in music shops over here they only have PSATMOR, Surfing and maybe Crystal Planet. Good selection I hear you say, well yes...but not when you have all of them already! I really want Time Machine, Flying in.... and The Extremist...but no, they have decided we don't want some older Satch. Bah humbug.

At least I didn't get spat at by a little kid...=D Moan over

DoTheStu: Universal Mind is really growing on me at the moment, good guitar, good bass- in fact, good overall! Just thought I'd let you know...=D

Hi, folks!

I'm an old and frequent visitor to the JS website, but only now I decided to register as a member.

The first time I listened to a live performance of Joe was at the State Theater - now The Fillmore - in Detroit (04/09/06) during the Super Colossal tour. I gotta say that it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. The sound quality was something unique, almost ineffable. I still get the shivers up and down my spine everytime I remember the first chords of Flying in a Blue Dream filling State Theater's hall. Last thursday (07/31/08) Professor Satchafunkilus gave me another shot of his enlightened-alien-guitar-sounds, but this time, down here in Brazil at Citibank Hall (Rio de Janeiro). The show was great, but not as good as the one I experienced in Detroit - of course I'm talking about sound quality 'cause Joe shredded as usual. He was wicked!

I just cannot explain why the concert in Rio was so uncrowded. The house was so empty, it looked like a VIP show. I'm not 007, but I could read Mike Manning's lips while he was tweaking the talk box for 'I Just Wanna Rock' intro. He said twice: "Where the f%@$ is everybody?". Yeah Mike, I felt bad about it too. It's a shame that people in Rio didn't support the PSATMOR tour as they should. But hey, please take into consideration that the ticket was kinda expensive for most of the Brazilian guitar lunatics. Unfortunately, we're still a developing country that struggles to increase our economic power. (Did something happen to Stu's bass on a certain point of the show? I used my spy tricks again to register Jeff giving that hey-is-there-a-problem-smiling to Stu during Flying In a Blue Dream I guess.)

All in all, the show in Rio was awesome. Actually I'm from Belo Horizonte which was the next leg of the PSATMOR tour after Rio. I couldn't go there because I'm living in Rio right now. But I bet the show at Chevrolet Hall was ultra-hyper-mega-blaster-overcrowded, wasn't it Mike? lol. Belo Horizonte is also known as Rock City among rock music maniacs like myself.

I'd like to thank Joe, Stu, Jeff, Galen and all bandcrew for coming down here in Brazil. You guys delivered!

See you next time, Joe!

The Jump solo is indeed awesome. Isn't Eddie back in rehab?

Been learning "Tears in the Rain"... very well put-together song, I think, and a little different from Joe's usual style. I'm always glad to see versatility in a musician.

Sweet. I may use it for an audition to a music school here in a few months, I dunno. Do you guys think Eric Johnson would qualify as jazz?

Hooray, I get to redeem stuff for my ticket package. Yeah, Farnoush, I'm excited about seeing Joe also. Even though it will be in October for me. It's my first time.
