Hey Joe, I was wondering if you can help me out. I bought this old guitar at a yard sale for 10 dollars and would like some info on it. It's a very old Sovereign. Are they worth anything or a great guitar? Down below is a link for a pic that looks exactly like mine. http://www.electric-guitars-guide.com/sovereign-electric-guitar.html Thanks Joe, AndrewJames

Hi Joe…..

I am sure people always ask you questions about your fingers and the condition of them and I know there are obviously problems that can accrue such as, Carpel tunnel, aches and pains, blisters…. Ext…ext…… But do you or have you ever suffered from back or shoulder pains due to all those years of standing on stage supporting your guitar around your neck?.

I seem to be suffering from aches and pains in my neck and shoulder muscles, I just want to know if that could be down to me not supporting my guitars the right way?..... or just a few bad night sleeps…..ha ha

Take Care, Dave

I heard the BB King song the Thrill is gone twice out of nowhere randomly yesterday was weird, still never heard Joe's songs in the olympics, and ive watched lots of it!? Is it the American coverage or in highlights that its added? i havnt heard it once!!

Gotta love the asians though!

The walking run race thing is on, they look ridiculous, and all the chicks have like no boobs... sucks

and DR strings are nice too, there more like da darios than elixers and last a reasonable amout of time too, Ive a black set on one of my strats here, a fun thing to do is get 2 different coloured sets and use half from each, it looks cool, ive pink and black here

Hi Joe, New Fan here. Love your music, I dont think there is one song Ive heard that I didnt like....

Can you give me some tips to writing songs... Most of the time I will come up with a chord progression/riff, but cant build on it.... I must have like 20 riffs written that are not finished, thus my talent is not getting demonstrated to other people.... any tips? I dont want to sit all day long trying to come up with something....

Also can you give me tips on writing modal music.... thanks.... I watched your Satch Zone video, the one where you talked about your influences etc.... I liked the improvising in the background so much, that it inspired me to write a song like that.... so far I have a begining, and as usually now I'm stuck.....

can you give me an explanation on some chords I can use for spacish Lydian sound.... Thanks Joe...

My begining progression is C5/D5 arpegiated... ( If this will help you answer the question...

Another question, why does Clydian sounds good over D5? If we play D5 and solo with Gscale wont that be mixolydian mode? So why does C5/D5 chord progression sounds good with C lydian?

Thanks Joe.... Keep Rocking and inspiring young minds to play guitar.... You're the reason I started learning modes in the first place.... Your music cannot be described in words....

P.S. Are you ever coming to WA, Seattle?

I would like to see you live so much....

Peter, your new fan!

Yeah we americans suck at relay races =D one of the people that work with my mom was in the olympics once, it was either sydney or saltlake city. some running event.

So what strings does Joe use. I got some D'addarios .011-.042 Blues/jazz rock

My guitar just wont stay tuned, so far I think it is still the new strings adjusting, but it's been two days, my D'addarios never takes longer that on night. Even when I lock the end they still get intuned. All for now L8R>.<

Just got my results today, 7 A*'s and 4 A's (which is good apparently). I am quite chuffed, as an A in Maths was not really expected until this last year in school. (it's never been a strongpoint you see...) I now have a perma-smile...=D

Last time I was out the speedometer needle broke right,Nnow I had this old ski-doo 440 t,nt snowmobile like 20 years ago anyway it had a speedometer made by HURST ,Lifetime guarantee so I went out to the shop pulled the bike out peeled off the old speedometer put my t,nt ski-doo speedometer on fired it up took it for a ride around my place speedometer work abosultely beautiful. So you're saying I got 8 packs of the wrong strings!? And before my bridge was too low now it;s too high. I barely got to play it, now it's broken again. wasted a trip to guitarcenter. tried fixing it myself, but I accidently released the springs, so I had to put those back on. now I can either get it in tune, or I can have a straight bridge, but I can't get both. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I REGRET GETTING A FLOATING BRIDGE SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it when it is fixed but hate fixing it. It is sooo much work and sooo many adjustments. L8R >.<

@Guitarman 77897:

Setting up a floyd rose bridge can be pretty simple, First, loose the "fine tune" screws on the bridge all the way (by turning them clockwise) and then adjust them half a turn.

Put the strings on the guitar but don't tune them all the way (just adjust them 'till they get a bit tense).

Now adjust the springs in the back of the guitar twisting the screws SLOOOWLY and Doing just A QUARTER TURN A TIME EACH untill the bridge is just in the position you want (Also make sure the screws are equally "into" the guitars body, i.e. the metal plate is parallel to the side where the screws are added)...

Once the bridge is in the position you want it, tune the strings starting in the low E. As the tension in the strings increases the bridge is gonna move, so you have to adjust the springs again (REMEMBER, TURN THE SCREWS SLOWLY AND EVENLY) this will vary the tension in the strings, therefore it will go out of tune, that's normal.

Retune the guitar, and adjust again the springs, repeat untill the guitar keeps in tune and the bridge is at the height you desire.

It shouldn't take you more than 5-6 cycles, otherwise you may want to stretch the strings by pulling upwards each string separately so the weight of the guitar helps you stretch it.

Once everything is perfect lock the neck and you're ready to go! You'll never regret a floyd rose bridge again ;)
