mjs99: hey what was the exact date for that G3 gig? It's probably on the 'net, but if you know it, let me know the venue and exact date.
Thanks,
Roo

mjs99, the RG370DXL is good until you play something better... the trem is cheap, but everything else kinda holds... I swapped the pups on mine and now it's pretty good, but the minute I bought a prestige ibanez, that guitar never felt the same... I keep it cuz it's kinda stupid to sell it after spending so much money on it, but I probably won't be buying another one of those... For a beginner I'd say it's more than enough, I don't know if you'd be better off getting a mexican strat, that's debatable... I guess it depends on the musical style... For hard rock and metal, the ibanez might be the best one within that price range... hope this helps...

I forgot to mention this earlier, but I just bought tickets to the Experience Hendrix tour with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox.
This is a continuation of the thing Satch was a part of back in 2004. This year's tour is larger, though, and includes Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eric Johnson, Robby Krieger, and Buddy Guy, among others. Awesome...!
guitarpickinson - Sorry to hear your seats are on the end of the row. One of the reasons why I'll never buy one of the ticket packages is you don't know your exact seat location when you buy them.
I hope you're still able to enjoy the show...
elpp / roo - Can you post the link that's giving trouble? I'll try it out and see if I have any problems...most of that site has been loading just fine for me, though.
Tuesdayschild - michelle posted some DMB YouTube things that are a good place to start. I'll still get some MP3s together for you later, though... :-)

Roo: G3 with Satriani, Vai and Petrucci. Friday 1st December 2006. Hordern Pavilion, 1 Driver Ave, Moore Park, NSW, 2021. Show kicked off at 7:30pm. Ticket price was $110
cosmic_ape: Thanks for the feedback. Seeing as my young bloke is left handed, it could be a while before he gets the chance to pick up something better. He'll never know the delights of walking into any music store and trying any guitar you like. We were also considering a Jackson DK2 Dinky or a ESP LTD M-100FM. The Jackson was just over budget and the ESP was crap. As long as he can bash out Trivium he'll be happy. I thing the RG will do nicely.

Wow, it's been 9 hours and there have only been three posts here? Did the site go down for a bit this morning, or did everyone but me find a life? ;-)
roo - I just tried that link (Windows XP, Firefox 3.0.1) and it worked fine. I'll try later, though...elpp said it was an occasional thing.
I have two Satch questions after going to that page... On the second I Believe single listing, is the "acoustic" version from MTV Unplugged or is it just an alternate mix of the normal version?
And the page for The Satch EP mentions Banana Mango. The EP itself just says Banana Mango, but it's six minutes long which would make it Banana Mango II from Time Machine...right? If so, maybe in your track listing it should link to BMII...?

DTS: No, where abouts are you? Oooo, an experience Hendrix tour...should be good.
Blue_Moon: That is a very very funny pic...
Why is it called the 'Tourist Season' if you can't shoot them?
I you are born again, do you have two bellybuttons?
I'm off 'out' now to this party majig organised by college. I hate dancing and I can't really see what else ther will be to do. Could always take my iPod and watch Joe...but then I'd be considered anti-social! Pah...anywanyway, it goes on until 1am, so I expect I will be fresh as a daisy tomorrow for band practice. Yeh right!! =D If I don't post again it's because I've had to kill myself due to the shame of dancing...(I joke)

Tracie thanks for the hugs....
I'm wondering if me dumping him was some way of illiciting a response from him...oh no I can't live without you blah blah blah...anyway it seems to have backfired on me it was pretty immature of me anyway....
But then why the hell should I accept bloody ex gf..and the fact that he needs her to organise his life and look after his little boy...
If I meant anything he would have tried harder....
34 years old rock chick wants best friend/lover to complete life forever and ever....too much to ask? seems so
I run my own business I'm reasonably intelligent I'm doing a damn good job of my life and my children....I've been through loads of crap with men, been ignored, been through an abusive control freak relationship, then had to defend myself from various spongers....
I really thought this time was different....

I'm listening to the Time Machine CDs in my car now, and man...the first few seconds of the title track sound killer on my stereo. The drums feel like they're surrounding you, and then the rest of the music comes in on top of that and it's all just everywhere. It's hard to explain, I guess, but it sounds (and feels) really cool. So...try it.
Igneousiceman - I'm about the third person back, center stage, on the LISF DVD. I'm a tall guy with dark hair and glasses, and I'm wearing a longsleeve white shirt under a Satch EOC tshirt. An easy place to spot me is at the very end of the first disc...the picture fades out on me wiping sweat off my face.
Once you see what I look like there you'll be able to spot me elsewhere. It's been a while since I've watched it, but I seem to remember being pretty visible around FIABD in the first set and then from AWMAWY in the second set to the end of the show/encores.
cheese101 - Thanks for posting those Guitar Center Hollywood videos. I should upload my videos to YouTube, the guys filming these are probably in them. In fact, I should look closer...I could probably find myself in their footage. I was kinda directly in front of Mike Manning (but the way he was sitting I guess I'd be to his right, across the "isle" in front of the stage).
hybes - Check out this video that Tracie posted. Jump to the 7:00 mark and you'll hear Joe explain how he does some of his harmonic stuff.
Blue_Moon - You're so right about the Always... tapping section. It's good to hear I'm not the only one. ;-)
Listening to: Gambale Hamm Smith - Gambale Hamm Smith (current song: Beyond The Bridge)
This album is awesome...does anyone else here have it? I think it's some of Stu Hamm's best work. His solo in Astral Traveler is EVERYTHING I love about his playing.

Yeah, the tapping section of Always...was like magic the first time I heard it in the Expo'82 show. It was completely amazing.
It's an example of how a section, than even a bad guitarist like me can say it's technically easy to play, can be so inspirating. An example that music comes from the heart, and technic is just a tool.

Vic, sorry yer going thru a bad spell. The right guy will come yer way...without his ex tagging along. The thing is, he'd be a bad guy if he turnt his back on his kid, so in some way he has to stay attached to the ex - but she shouldn't have a say in things not concerning the kid. *sigh*

mjs99: thanks for the G3 info, I've added it to the venues and gigs: http://roo.emu.id.au/newsatch/?q=node/2089
Do the Stu, thanks for checking the link. I'll keep an eye on it and work out what might be causing it over time hopefully.
Also, the track on the Satriani EP is definitely banana mango 2, You are correct. I've fixed it. Thanks. Also, the funny thing is, I put the CD in and all the track times were out by between 1 and 4 seconds. Usually they are spot on from a commercial release. So I've updated all track times also.

hey everyone! I am not political but some people here keep ranting on about Barak Obama. personally i think he just tells people what they want to hear. his story constantly changes. i think he is DANGEROUS! his political perspective is borderline communist. I sure as hell don't want to pay more taxes, which has nothing to do with my patriotism. i think those two are a couple of Shmucks! edit: i think Mcain is real. he says what he really feels. he doesn't manipulate people and the media like Obie.

Stu and Tracie - Thanks for the post. I checked that out. He makes it look so easy. I think I have the basic understanding down, what I don't have yet is the touch. You should hear me trying to get that little piece of thumb flesh on the string! It's like a bull in a china shop! LOL.
I see the Satchurator pedal release date has been pushed back again. Now Guitar Center is going to have the Jemini out before Joe's pedal. It will make my choice more difficult.
Back to work on harmonics.
