The one thing I love about most of Satchs recordings is that they all have a level of fidelity to them that NO modern radio music has. Meaning he does not allow the master to get too compressed. I understand the reasons for this process (record companies and profit) but I still listen to most of my music through a pretty high end home system ($4400.00 CAD). I only wish that more people really understood what makes a good recording and what does not. Like Metalica’s recent release…cough….piece of garbage.

If you get the chance listen to Joe Satriani Live in San Francisco through a “good” home theater system and you’ll see what I mean. Quiets should be quiet and loud should be loud. Without fidelity it’s like taking away 50% of the music 100% of the “feel”.

Anyway I am pumped over this and can’t wait to have a listen I just hope Joe doesn’t let me down. Give us some fidelity Joe…..PLEASE!!!!! don’t compress the hell out of it!

Oh I failed to mention what I am pumped about!?!?!

CHICKINFOOOOTTTT!!!!!!

I say keep the name! It will stand out and everyone will be talkin' about it. It's just so damn random and I believe it has some sort of story behind it. Or call yourselves Chickinrock because I'm sure we'll all be movin' our heads back and forth to your groovy new Zep like tunes!!!

Hey Joe, I'm a new member but I came to see your Cardiff show in May. It was my first show and I was blown away by you and I can't wait for you to come back. If you know Dr Jayce then I am his 12 year old nephew and I also came with my grandfather and he will agree that it was the best show ever. Thanks for the great show and I hope you come again!!

wooleyman, apparently metallica themselves killed the album by making it too loud and killing the dynamic range... I checked out some samples and I was bummed about the sound quality...
I don't think I care enough to check the whole thing out

Argh...I REALLY don't like Robert Plant right now. From his website:

Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin.

"It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward," Robert Plant said.

"I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects," he added.

No one can force Robert to do Led Zeppelin, but I truly hope this isn't how he sees the situation. He's the only one of the four (and perhaps the only one on earth) who doesn't want the reunion. If Jimmy, John and Jason do any future music, it's going to be one project, together, and Robert is going to look like an idiot.

Personally, I can't wait to hear what the Js come up with...

Zinc Master - Thanks for the GNR update. I can see Axl holding off on the album until 1/6/09, though, so we don't get our free Dr Pepper.
Igneousiceman - I still don't have PG's newest album (Silence...), but I say start with GOOMY. Both albums are the same kind of musical idea, so you might as well start at the beginning.
MrFidelity - This forum is the way it is because Joe likes it this way. We like it too. It's a bit different, and it has some weaknesses, but after a while you'll see it has some advantages too.

Hey Joe and everybody,

it's me again. How are you (all) doing? It's been a while, where should I start? I couldn't make it to one of your shows in Holland this year, because university took a lot of my time back then with exams. As I'm writing this, my schedule is even twice as full as back then. Moreover, I started, inspired by you, to play the guitar. I bought an electric guitar and the Flying in a Blue Dream notebook and hit it off haha. I didn't tell many people about it, on purpose, so that I wouldn't lose my self-confidence as in being able to learn it all by myself. So far, in one week, I've learned the melody of Flying in a Blue Dream partially and I am now perfectioning The Forgotten (Part one). Of course, I am not losing sight of the basics, because I am not, and maybe never will be, the guitar hero you are, although you might not see yourself that way. But I will always be inspired by you, whether my life and career are in terms of finishing law school etc. or becoming a professional musician. I hope the latter, but something's gotta give I guess haha :) Come back to Holland soon okay? I'll give it all i got to come visit you. Good luck with your current tour and good luck inspiring us all. Don't get this wrong, but: I love you.

Joe, I teach beginner and intermediate guitar, mostly to kids. Once a year, my church allows them to do a recital of sorts. This year, my most promising student, aged 14, would like to do some excerpts from your song; Searching. I'm having trouble figuring out just what type of pedal you used to change the pitch in that section beginning 9 bars in. Can you help me please? Can anyone here help us please? Thank you in advance! peace, Joe Stasio

LOL. Talking about being inspired reminded me of a funny story...

I went to see "the Goodies" tour a year or so ago, and it was OK, the best part was that I grew up watching the Goodies and it was surreal to see them live AND SO OLD! :)

Anyway, I was walking past backstage and saw a handful of nerds waiting to get their "Goodies" shirts and books signed, and out come Bill (with a crown lager), Graham and Tim.

So I stopped and became a nerd, and got them to sign my Goodies DVD I had bought (for memories of course - I'm not a nerd! :) ) and this guy next to me is almost shaking with excitement. He grabs Bill Oddie by the hand and starts shaking hands enthusiastically and says:

" You guys inspired me SO MUCH!"

to which Bill Oddie says:

"Inspired you? .... Inspired you to do WHAT?"

Lol!
