Oh boy, about a week late but, sincere! Joe's gig in Edmonton was just INSANE (as js1200xxx mentioned)! BTW: I've posted some photos at: http://www.therockgeneration.com/news-ns232.html

We hope Joe will consider Calgary and Edmonton more often!!!

Now, my son and I were going to duct tape our socks on for our photo with Joe but, there were too many people and the meet was rather hurried so we decided to help 'streamline' the process and sacrifice the idea. Non the less, we love the new album and wish Joe a lot of success with it!

js1200xxx: great guitars, do you play in a band?

Out of the Setlist - You are probably right. I think you would certainly be one of the few that really liked that Van Halen III experiment. I never personally thought it was aweful, but it just never seemed like Charone had quite the pipes to go with Eddie's playing. He was pretty admirable...and I'll give him this...he had balls. when the Sammy era ended, there were some HUGE shoes to fill! Van Halen's best commercial success was with Sammy.

I really wish you right about the comment that Eddie had about 20 songs already in the can. It would be very cool to get them released. But you are certainly right about Eddie's ego. That guy just can't seem to get over himself.

Joe Satrini- the flintstones theme sounds like Gary Hoey but I cant find any info anywhere telling me that he's ever done that song. Gonna keep looking. If I find out who it is I'll let you know. Peace

JOE SATRINI & DO THE STU:- I'm kind of guessing here, but the Flinstone Theme COULD be Vinnie Moore. It SOUNDS like his tone, but some of the phrasing sounds a little unlike him, so i can't be 100% sure. Hope that helps, guys!

THEmonk - Welcome to the site! Tell us a bit about yourself...

Irvin_Cools - Welcome to you, as well... Joe plays a lot of gigs in Europe on each tour. He started there this time, though, so you'll probably have to wait until the next album to catch a show.
Joe Satrini - ZuperDave posted the setlist in just a few days ago...here it is.

It looks to be about five songs shorter than it was at the start of the European tour (no Crushing Day, Musterion, OOTS, or DYADD, to name a few), although some of that is give and take because he probably jams out more as the tour goes on. I created a quick playlist of the set in iTunes and adding time for live stuff (the longer Always..., Stu's solo, etc.) it looks like the show is about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I think that makes this his shortest headlining show in the US since I've been going to his concerts (my first Satch show was the opening night of the EOC tour). But looking at all of his concerts I've seen, this is somewhere in the middle. It's longer than his G3 sets, obviously, as well as his opening sets (for Deep Purple, 2004) or co-headlining sets (with Dream Theater, 2002).

To answer your other question...I'm not sure if old nicknames are linked to or reserved for their original account, but I doubt they are. I think Do The Stu is original enough to where no one would coincidentally pick it over the next month. If someone picked it intentionally, well, depending on what was done with the name it could possibly be considered impersonation / identity theft and cause some legal problems.

I guess I don't know...maybe I'll log in as my dad or brother and see if I can change one of them to Do The Stu. ;-)

lorenzo001 - I skipped the "reunion" with David Lee Roth because Michael Anthony wasn't there...I thought that was pretty lame. I did catch the 2004 reunion with Sammy Hagar, though...that was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
markk - Thanks for sharing your photos.
hybes - I didn't know much about Extreme back Van Halen III came out, but I do now and I have to admit I almost shuddered for a moment when I saw that YouTube video from the III tour. But I think had Gary stayed in the band for a few more albums they could have done some awesome stuff together.

About Eddie's ego, in this case I guess I was trying to say that it wouldn't surprise me to find out he's exaggerating and the "10 or 20 songs" I've heard him mention in interviews are just a few dozen riffs on a tape buried somewhere in his studio.

Sammy left Van Halen and the band released two songs with DLR and one album with Gary Cherone...then they did the three new songs with Sammy just a few years ago. In that same amount of time, Sammy has released six solo albums, at least four live CDs or DVDs, and a bunch of other little things here and there.

I love EVH, I really do, but I think it's obvious he's been the problem this whole time. It's sad.

roffler - Ah, Gary Hoey! I think that Flintstones thing could be him, even if you can't find any evidence anywhere. Does anyone else know for sure?

...Austin...

I noticed in a review of the Chicago show that the setlist was identical to the Minneapolis show. Personally I would think they would get bored being repetitive like that. Hopefully they will change things up as they go along..

If anyone waits for Joe after the show, make sure you go get an autograph from the rest of the guys. They were just sitting there waiting for him to finish. I'm absolutely sure they would'nt mind a little attention. They deserve it...

Joe Satrini: Hmm tough question.

I love the JS3, it's just sooo cool! It was the one I "grew up" on. I spent many years playing that and still play it, it is just a "relaxed" guitar and it's sort of "home" to me.

I have been playing the JS2KPLT a lot lately, it has insane full sound and LOOOOOOOOOOONG sustain. Beautiful and fat sound.

I think the JS10th has a lighter sound, or I haven't quite worked it out yet. It seems a little harsh to me, I think it still needs more playing to develop properly - I reserve judgement here.

The BDG is the latest and newest, I haven't played it as much, but it just felt like butter when I first picked it up.

I've played it every week a little and feel like I need to play it more, sort of like crisps I guess, just need that one more! LOL:) I must admit though, I keep feeling a little nervous flicking the switches and knobs, I know the paint trim is going to wear off, so I sort of play it GENTLY! :) But it just sounds really sweet, feels and sounds a lot like my JS3 in many ways.

Hey, no more Satch doodles have arrived, what's up guys and girls? I would have thought I'd get 200 times the amount that came in. Come on, send em in and I'll get the gallery started.

Out of the setlist- just have to ask. are you a Yes fan? OH ITS STUUUUUUUUUU, just read about your name change. and back to VH. i don't even remember when that Gary guy started playing with them. busy i guess, must have been a short spurt though. i didn't even know they put out an album. was it any good? always been a sammy fan though. Montrose, and his solo stuff. when i get back to the states i am definitly going to pour over his lastest CD's. any reccomendations.

funny story about a YES concert i went to at the chicago theatre a few years back. this also happened at a Jethro Tull concert in the uppity north side of chicago. i cheered during the concert or whooped it up, and i got ssshhhhhhhhed. i couldn't beleive it. almost got it a fight at the yes concert. i was blasted off of some westmalt triples.
