slan & ibanezjoan, listening to Pink Floyd gives me such a mellow feeling - like a buzz witout the drugs. lol! They have such a trippy vibe. It's kind of hard to explain, but listening to them, then and now, is just ...trippy. lol! If some of you don't know what I mean, HAVE AT THIS. This vid was from 28 feckin years ago, and the music still holds up today!

Us, and them - And after all were only ordinary men. Me, and you. God only knows its noz what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear - And the front rank died. And the general sat and the lines on the map - Moved from side to side. Black and blue - And who knows which is which and who is who. Up and down. But in the end its only round and round. Havent you heard its a battle of words - The poster bearer cried. Listen son, said the man with the gun - Theres room for you inside.

Hey everyone! I got all of my errands and chores done. Therefore, I thought I would check back in to see what is happening.

ZuperDave, Out of the Setlist, js1200js1000, and whoever: In case you were wondering, I got Additional Creations off of E-Bay for $155 (including S/H). Sounds like a lot to pay for a CD, doesn't it?

Well, I better get my rest for tomorrow. I have to work in the morning at my full-time hotel job, and turn around and work at my other part-time hotel job in the evening.

Dear Joe,

This is a message I emailed you at your myspace a few days ago - I thought I would also send it out here to you to better the chances you receive it - thanks.

**************************************************************************

My friends and I have been big fans since the release of Surfing and have caught many of your shows from our first which was at The Bottom Line, followed by a day out at The Pier with SRV, a heavy show at Roselands, and several times at the Beacon Theater. One of my friends has seen you at other venues in NYC and out in Chicago while on business. We will be at the United Palace show on Oct 18th. The reason that I'm writing to you has to do with one of the friends that I'm talking of, who is my dear friend Joseph Cocchiarella. He'll be coming in from Jersey for the show. Joe married his wife Rose back in 1989 - their wedding song was "Always With Me, Always With You." They love that song and are very sentimental about it. Joe is one of the greatest guys you could ever know, unfortunately, he is going through so much. His daughter Maddy has lupus, but thankfully, is doing well. We have a walk for lupus tomorrow going out from south street seaport... we'll be with the "Maddy's Marchers" team. Joe was just out a few weeks ago up north for another walk for his older brother Michael who suffers from ALS. I'm not sure that you could do this, but what I'm asking is, if you could send out "always with me..." to Joe and Rose, he would be so touched and would never forget it. I could see his yes swell up now. There will be seven of us there that night of 10/18 - it will be a real surprise for everyone. If it's just not possible, I will understand and know that there was consideration, which I appreciate.

Thanks for the years of great music and much, much more to come.

Thank you so much,

Bruno

***Wear your earplugs*** I wore my plugs to the Oct3 show and my ears are STILL RINGING (ten days later!). Joe played well, but the sound was wayyyy too loud! It was hard to make out his playing at times, I would often have to "think of" the songs and visually follow his performance. I hope this ringing goes away and no long term damage is done. I don't know if Joe was aware of the volume level as he is standing "behind" the speakers. Joe, I've listened to you for 15 years, seen you numerous times; I want to see you again but I'm not going to risk my hearing like this. Please PLEASE turn it down a little so we can appreciate your music and not leave with damaged ears.

Happy birthday to Sammy Hagar, who turns 61 today. :-)

Sammy Hagar - Ten 13 (live at the Cabo Wabo Cantina, 10/13/07...the song starts at about the 3:00 mark)

Tostado - Chickenfoot is the code name of the project featuring Joe Satriani on guitar, Sammy Hagar on vocals and probably guitar, Michael Anthony on bass and probably backing vocals, and Chad Smith on drums.

They did some recording in September and will finish up in December, with an album and tour in 2009. If you do a Google News search for "chickenfoot" and either "satriani" or "hagar" you should find some more info. There isn't much out there at the moment, though...

Igneousiceman - Yeah, I really like how Joe goes into the riff from The Enigmatic during Circles. Also, if you haven't picked up on it yet, now that you have Not Of This Earth you'll notice that Joe plays a bit of Memories at the end of The Crush Of Love on Live In San Francisco.
Glitz Man - Wow, Additional Creations is going for upwards of $150 now? I bought mine on Ebay back in 2001 for something like $8 plus shipping. There were several on sale at that time for the same price, too...I'm kicking myself for not having bought more of them.

I had Joe and Jeff sign my copy after one of the G3 shows last year...I don't have much Satch memorabilia, but I'd say this is definitely the coolest.

I think it'd be really cool of Joe to put Turkey Man and the techno version of Until We Say Goodbye on his next compilation album, whenever he comes up with one. Or he could maybe put them up on iTunes in the meantime...

toddsinclair - Welcome to the site...it's good to hear you and your son had such a great time at the gig.
JS_JS - It's good to hear from you...how's life?

There are few Pacific NWers here who are bummed that Satch is skipping their area...some of 'em are heading down to the SF show on the last night of the tour. It'd be cool if you could do the same...any way you can swing it? The show's on a Saturday...

Listening to: Sammy Hagar - Ten 13 (current song: Deeper Kind Of Love)

...Austin...

Slan the man - I'm with you on Floyd. For me though, Meddle has never really got the kudos it deserved. For me it was a sort of turning point which made Dark Side possible. Almost like a double album, when I listen to them one after the other (and I still do after all these years) I feel like i'm travelling in time and space. Weird but fecking awesome. Hey Conch, mebbe even trippy LOL.

Glitz Man...I just about fell out of my chair when you told me that... Like OutOfTheSetlist, I think I paid $15 for my copy about 5 years ago, and that included shipping.

Cappy Steve....You're so right...."Meddle" was a groundbreaking album for me personally.

U2's Bono and The Edge writing music for Spider-Man: The Musical

$40 million production to be Broadway's biggest

You'd think that Bono and The Edge, still finishing U2's new album, No Line On The Horizon, would have little time for outside projects. But the two are writing the score for the upcoming Broadway production of Spiderman: The Musical.

Although the lavish production, said to feature state-of-the-art lighting and sets, isn't due to open till sometime next year, it's already making history of sorts.

No line on the budget At a reported cost of $40 million, the Spider-Man musical will be the most expensive in Broadway history - that's a weekly running tab of close to $1 millon. It is estimated that the show will have to run succesfully - now, get this - for 8,000 years to break even. (Uh, yeah, that'll happen.)

The show is being helmed by The Lion King's director Julie Taymor, no stranger to cost overruns and clashes with producers. A source says, "She doesn't care what it costs. Does not care at all. Her attitude is, it's for the art, and you don't question artists."

Okay, then. Well, at least the music should be good. This isn't the first comic book collabo for U2: They contributed Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me to the Batman Forever soundtrack.

In the meantime, U2 are still pounding away on No Line On The Horizon, which will cost considerably less than $40 million. And won't take nearly as long to break even.

Hey all...it's really cool to hear how things are going with the tour now. I love hearing/reading the stories.

Blue Moon, well done on diploma! I've got my Paul Gilbert ticket for the 21st November...had it booked from May! Any plans to go to the Judas Priest/Megadeath/Testament gig in Feb?

My 11 year old son started guitar lessons a couple of weeks ago. So far he's learnt Layla, Back in Black and Tesla's 'love is'. His guitar teacher is very impressed...at his ability, and also depth and breadth of knowledge of guitar players and rock music (I take all the credit for that) but unfortunately he's not a Joe Satch fan...

He likes Eric Clapton instead...can't be held against the guy I suppose.

Out Of The Setlist: Now that you mention it, yes! It's unfortunate really, 'cos I heard songs like 'Friends' on that DVD first, and they don't quite sound as good on the studio albums to me. Great show that though...
Spiderman The musical, what the?! Will there be a Spider-Pig musical I wonder?
