First off, let me say thanks to those of you wishing me and my family well in a very difficult time. My father in law was my wifes last living parent, so this was pretty hard. But, we both think he's in a better place now and that's good. He will be happy and watch over all of us.
JS_JS - I know it bothers you that there are political discussions on this site. But I assume and if I'm wrong I'm sorry, but since you said something about college, so I was assuming you are young. I have been a voter for 22 years now, and I can't remember politics ever being discussed this much. This is actually a very good thing for our country. American's are very good at bitching about their circumstances, they are very bad about taking the measures to make their circumstances better. It's nice to see the number of people now taking notice. Be patient my friend...it's almost over. the good news is that if the democrats win the oval office, they will have 4 more years of complaining about how the bush administration screwed up the country so that they can't fix it either. =)
Slansh - I have to agree with Do the Stu 100 percent about the conspiracy business. I have to believe that Silverstein renewed his lease because it was time and it makes perfect sense to put a large amount of insurance to protect against terrorist attacks. Bin Laden tried to blow up the towers in 1993. He always vowed he'd take them down. And by the way, he tried explsives to all the support structures in the building amd it didn't even come close to taking the towers down. this was the whole reason he attacked it with planes at a maximum fuel capacity.
And sadly, I am also not voting for a president this year. It's the first time since 88 I won't vote for a pres. But this is the worst set of candidates I have ever seen running for office. I can't in good concience help put either man in office.
Big breath.....it's good to be back on the site. I have missed much!

JS_JS - Amen to the music. There are a lot of political disagreements here, but the one thing we all have in common is music!

Sometimes They Dont - Thanks for sharing that jam video...it's very cool. John Petrucci really has matured a lot as a player since he first did G3 way back in 2001.
Kylebce - Email your photos to webmaster@satriani.com and they'll be put up on the road page eventually.
JS_JS - Go look through the T2J archives and see the discussions that went on ahead of the 2004 election. Things are so much better here this time around...there's no name-calling or anything like that. I'd say we're all doing pretty good, and we'll only have another week or so of this anyway.
How's school going? What classes are you in, again? Are you on a quarter system, which means you're almost done, or a semester system?
hybes - Welcome back...let us know if there's anything else you need.
You're still going to the Satch gig, right? Isn't that in a week or so?
Also, I hope you still go vote on Nov. 4, even if you don't vote for president. There are a lot of local things that often get forgotten about...anything from banning Wal-Mart to building in your town to passing an education bond to improving roads. Surely there's something out there you can support...right? ;-)

Joe - is that you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7-yBnBB4H8 will take you to a vid I made on my Mac because this recording of (I have always assumed this is correct) Joe at a private concert with Axel Rose singing "5150' by Van Halen wasn't on YouTube anywhere I saw. Joe - is this you on this song?
The vid has photos of "Chickenfoot" (can't wait! I'm so stoked for it I CAN'T STAND IT! Now I'm having a Clapton flash back.) , real chicken foot, VH, past, newer past, present, references to "running politician" crack me up, with Obama, McCain and Palin, the placement is all intentional. Wildlife pics I just took and a few funny family pics I just took are in this. Anyway... God Bless You all, God Bless You Joe, God Bless All You Do Today and Tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Chris Gossett a.k.a. 5150_Alien
ps - If you visit my site please know now that I'm putting newer junk of my own on there soon that will blow away some stuff presently there from a year ago. Just an FYI

OK let's say you have never payed guitar before, and never learnt music theory, but you wanted to able to at least play one Joe Satriani number in your life, at a very good standard (no mistakes, the right feel) and achieve that within 1 year.
What are the ten steps you would take to get from A to B, and thanks in advance for detail on the successive guitars to use if more than one is needed (models and why) and the best resources to achieve this.
Your challenge for this week.......
Given that I don't think Joe ever actually reads any posts, I rely on you my fellow T2Jers to share your knowledge. :0)

Hey Joe!
I just wanted to tell you what an amazing show you put on tonight at the Fillmore Miami Beach. It was the greatest night of my life and getting to meet you was a dream come true for me. Thank you so much for everything and I hope you enjoy the Hendrix painting. May the spirit of Jimmy be with you.

Dear Joe,
I have one question and hope for your friendly request.
Im developer at small botique amp company in Germany. We build small series from tube amps.
Im play guitar (actually, Im trying:-))since 1985 and one of first fascinating things was your Surfin album.
Your art was a greatest influence for me together with mr Vai and mr Petrucci. Thx a lot!
My question are: may I use some self- covered songs for demonstrating our amps? Demonstration only. Ive recorded at my home studio (Logic8&ProTools) Surfin and Sommer Song with my amps and (ok, you are the best and Ill never play just similar) but it sound good.
Thanks a lot for all your art and music.
Stay rocked!
Sebastian

Do the Stu...I watched that movie you recommended 'Almost Famous' and I let my two boys see it too even though it was rated 15 and my two boys are (nearly) 11 and 12. Anyway, as you said, there wasnt' too much in the way of bad behaviour although they totally didn't 'get' the deflowering scene.....
Thanks for recommending it, it was a great movie, the music was great I wish 'Stillwater' had gone on. I asked my boys who they would most like to be out of the film thinking they would want to be the 15 year old rock journalist who get's to follow the band around, but no, the answer was....Russell (the guitar player) typical what monsters have I raised!
Which character would you most like to be?

TuesdaysChild - I love the scene on the bus when they all sing "Tiny Dancer". I have the soundtrack to Almost Famous and its great for background music when people come over for a meal.
Do your kids like School of Rock? I must have watched that 10 times with my kids and I still laugh at it.
Have spent the evening showing my kids old episodes of Roseanne (the Halloween ones) on youtube - geez she was funny.

I know some people are tired of discussing politics. But this is after all a "free-for-all stream of consciousness". Nobody is forcing anyone to read every post. And besides, it's only every four years...lol. And I totally agree that talking about Joe & the Band is way more interesting..
