hello king joe i would like to study your life about when you first started playing etc and how long you practised a day and what did your practice consist of etc a bit about me joe i live in the uk im about 50 male ive been playing about 18yrs my speciality if i can call it that is improvising which im rather good then after 18 yrs i should be. saying that im still only on one or two steps climbing up a very very high ladder of yours. my guitar playing journey will be long but by heck joe with you to listen to and be inspired by it will be a very happy journey which i hope never ends.

Unklpunk , i'd like to see IF in a live setlist too. allong with many others not usually played. I think they have to do all the hits though as the shows are in big cities and tourists will want to hear familiar tunes.

I saw Status Quo a few years ago and the singer asked half way through the show if we would mind if they played a couple of songs from the new album.

I'd like to see joe play a secret prayer , back to shalla bal , champagne , driving by night , what breaks a heart ,

Just got back from Chicago, Last night was AMAZING!!!! but I wish he would have played either Crushing day or Lords of karma. Stu's bass solo was incredible! the opening went really well, but the people in front of us, JUST STAYED FOR MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! as soon as mountain left so did they I WANTED TO PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE!!!!!!! YOU DON'T GO TO A SATRIANI CONCERT AND NOT SEE SATRIANI!!!!!!!!!!!! but the bass player of mountain like to twirl his ponytail around his head spinning it like crazy, i though he was going to hurt his neck, and the drummer bounced the drumsticks off the drum sending them flying offf into the audience! one hit leslie! then he tried to catch the second one but it missed. Overall Great concert can't wait to see him again! L8R >.<

Anybody here gonna be at the Boston, Mass. Show?

I'll be in row J LC... in a Red Hockey Jersey w/ a Devil Face on the front and THUMP 00 on the back.. Say HI.....

Joe plays my hometown (Cleveland) this weekend but work took me to New England this week. By a pure stroke of luck he's playing Boston on my night off (Tues) between work in Vermont and N.H.... I am sssoooooooooooooooo ready to hear the Funkallicious Professor Joe, live once again.

I met Joe in 1987 in Cleveland, OH, after he did an interview at a local radio station (WMMS). He signed my old beater Ibanez Roadstar with a Silver marker pen (which I stole because I was so flat broke at the time).... It was an honor to get to meet him then ( I was so tongue tied I was barely able to ask him to sign my junker guitar).

Joe, if you get a chance to read this, I just want you to know that you have been an inspiration since the first time I heard that crazy SWOOOSH sound on Surfing With The Alien.....

(my poor co workers could never understand how I could listen to that album for days on end)

I can't wait for next Tues.....

The Bonehead..........

DO THE STU:- You are right about Van Halen being in Australia 1998. I was half asleep when i posted.SorryAbout that .Thanks for the MTV info.I didn't know there was any footage from that tour.Do you know if any footage came from the Newcastle show,as i don't remember seeing any cameras around, not that i would have really noticed considering i was in the prescence of the guy who inspired me to become more serious about playing guitar....Until Joe came along!!!

fatape - I agree with the solo on Live without a Net. I think it's personally the best solo I've heard from Eddie also. He was really on it that night! Sure hope one day they decide to revisit that project and release it as a CD.

Out of the Setlist - I am going to the Dallas show next month. Getting very excited. It's only a month away.

Yes, I have seen the Right Here Right Now DVD. I couldn't agree more. Watching that show is very frustrating! One minute Eddie has his red Ernie Ball and then he has the gold Ernie Ball in the same song. And Sammy was in different clothes all throughout the concert! It was poor choice to do that concert like that. The music was great even though Eddie looked like he was in a very far away place! But it was hard to keep focus on the music with the poor editing.

Go to this link. I thnk this video might be the reason Van Halen broke up after the Van Halen III project. Gary Cherone is disco dancing to some of the greatest rock and roll of our time!! There's no way Eddie keeps Abba's long lost brother on tour with them!!! =)

Great stuff.

Glitz Man - I may have asked you this earlier, but where did you come across Additional Creations, and how much did you end up paying?

byrne - I think you'll be really missing out if you skip Mountain. But I guess you can figure they'll play for 45 minutes to an hour, so if you aren't interested show up an hour or so after the scheduled start time.
andy of uk - I like If as well...I'd love to see that one live sometime. I'm a big fan of most other songs you mentioned, too...along with If, Secret Prayer, Champagne?, and Driving At Night are all in my setlist here. What Breaks A Heart and Back To Shalla-Bal didn't quite make my cut, but they'd be welcome as well.

Man, I'm starting to imagine a G3 setlist with only these songs...wouldn't that be awesome?

fatape - Van Halen's Sydney show was filmed for the MTV special. I found this item in the Van Halen News Desk archive...scroll to the bottom to see the list of the songs that were aired later on in a lengthier version of this broadcast, for MuchMusic.

I have this on VHS...I'll have to dig it up next time I'm at my parents' house.

hybes - Thanks for that VH video...I guess that could be from the special I just mentioned, although I seem to remember the stage set being more elaborate. But maybe not.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I REALLY like Van Halen III. If I ranked the band's albums, VHIII would make the top half of the list for sure.

The band had a lot of the follow-up to III written and maybe even recorded when Gary was kicked out (or left...whatever happened). I remember reading updates on their website back then. I'd love to hear some of that music someday, although I doubt it'll ever get out. Then again, that could have all just been talk from EVH...just like he's supposedly had 20 new songs written for a few years. I love the guy's guitar playing, but man, his ego and tendancy to exaggerate makes things tough.

Joe, I wanted to extended a thank you to you and your crew from the Minneapolis show. I flew in from ATL to take my brother to see you. We have seen you play in concert for 20+ years now, but I purchased the Club Joe package. It was great to spend some time talking and listening to you and your views on things.

My brother brought the origional copy of Not of This Earth album for you to sign. I felt bad, because of the time allowed, but I would have really liked to hear more about that from you. It sounds like Rubina was the artist, and since the art work was lost- there must be a story behind it...

Hearing you talk about some fears and joys in your life just pointed out that people are people. No matter what you do in life- enjoy it. We couldn't agree more with you. But it was still great to see that you are just you- a guy that plays guitar.

Again- thanks for the chance to spend some time with you. Keep up the great work and keep trying to perfect each song. And I still think it would be funny to run into you at the record store looking for Country Chicken Picken DVD's...

Scott and Ric

Guitarman77897 - Hey I totally agree...YOU DONT GO TO SEE JOE (OR PAUL) AND NOT STAY FOR THE WHOLE GIG....

When I saw him in london ...the guy next to me said that he liked Joe but he was really there to see Paul Gilbert...anyway...Paul comes on, the guy stays for about three songs then disappears...he came back at the interval....then stayed for about 2 of joes songs...left and didn't come back ....although he did say he would have to leave a bit early to go to work....but still....

WHY DID HE BOTHER!

Its just darn right disrespectful, stupid, a waste of money and time....hmmm this list could go on and on!

Guns N' Roses to release new album next month

NEW YORK (Billboard) - More than a decade after its conception, Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" will finally see the light of day before year's end, sources close to the situation told Billboard.

The set will be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, November 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.

In the run-up to release date, album track "Shackler's Revenge" will debut in the video game "Rock Band 2," while a portion of "If the World" is playing over the end credits in the new Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies."

In addition, GNR's seminal 1987 full-length debut, "Appetite for Destruction," will be reissued on vinyl on October 28 via Interscope.

The band's last new studio albums were the simultaneously released "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" in September 1991. A covers set, "The Spaghetti Incident?," followed in 1993, and featured some of the last GNR recordings from original guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

This spring, soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the beverage to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" were to arrive anytime during the calendar year 2008. A Dr Pepper spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

Out Of The Sunrise: Well, I got 'Not of this Earth', 'The Extermist', 'FIABD' and 'Joe Satriani'. So unfortunately, no Time Machine yet...=D And I agree with you about mixing up setlists, I've got to the point where I fast forward songs like Satch Boogie and Cool#9 on DVDs just because I've seen them so many times!
Was speaking to this guy in Biology today, turns out he plays guitar. So I obviously say "Ever heard of Joe Satriani?" Now, so far everyone I've asked has said either "Yes, but not actuyally heard him" or "Who?" But get this, this guy said "Yes, I've got 3 of his albums." That had me gobsmacked...his fav is Crystal Planet , but. There is a but. He said, and I quote, "The trouble with his stuff is it can get a bit boring without any lyrics." Oh dear.....=D

Really enjoyed Mountain too, Leslie West is a character and the Goin Down jam was great, you guys really looked like you were having fun. WE ALL HAD FUN! Thanks for a great night! ALSO, Kudos to Jeff, Stu and Galen...what a great group of outstanding musicians! Also, to the crew, impressive teamwork and you guys helped make the show a HIT! If I (and a whole lot of other people) awarded Grammys, you'd need another bus to carry em'. God bless and take care...

fatape - You're welcome...

Zinc Master - It's interesting to see a GNR release date (again). I'm doubting it, though. Best Buy doesn't have anything listed on their website, and the release is only six weeks away. The Sunday release date sounds fishy, too.

I don't think the movie/video game soundtrack stuff is any indication that the album is done. They had a song in End Of Days, the Arnold Schwarzenegger film, waaay back in 1999.

I'd love to be proven wrong with all of this, but I don't even know if I'm going to bother to buy the album. So...

slanshroom - Awesome...thanks for the marimariSRV update. :-)
