Out of the setlist- just have to ask. are you a Yes fan? OH ITS STUUUUUUUUUU, just read about your name change. and back to VH. i don't even remember when that Gary guy started playing with them. busy i guess, must have been a short spurt though. i didn't even know they put out an album. was it any good? always been a sammy fan though. Montrose, and his solo stuff. when i get back to the states i am definitly going to pour over his lastest CD's. any reccomendations.

funny story about a YES concert i went to at the chicago theatre a few years back. this also happened at a Jethro Tull concert in the uppity north side of chicago. i cheered during the concert or whooped it up, and i got ssshhhhhhhhed. i couldn't beleive it. almost got it a fight at the yes concert. i was blasted off of some westmalt triples.

ZuperDave - I'm not a touring musician, obviously, but I agree...I do think it'd be boring to play the same set every night. I know Satch music is more difficult to play than most so that limits things, but I'd think there'd be some room for variety still. I don't expect him to be like the Dave Matthews Band or the Black Crowes and play 80 different songs over the course of a tour, but rotating out a song or two every now and then would keep things fresh.

Oh well... ;-)

Superstrings - I don't think Joe uses any compression when playing live. But his effects setup is something like guitar-wah-distortion-octave-whammy-chorus-delay-amp.
lorenzo001 - I love Yes. I've seen them in concert five times or so...the first was in 1999 and the last was with Dream Theater in 2003. I'm mainly a fan of the Yessongs lineup, but I like everything they've done. One of their (relatively) newer albums, The Ladder, would probably make my top five Yes albums.

Gary Cherone joined Van Halen following the first of many failed reunion attempts with David Lee Roth, after Sammy Hagar was kicked out in 1996. Gary did one album, Van Halen III, and a tour, and then he left/was fired as they were working on the follow-up album.

Van Halen III is among my favorite VH albums, as I said, but it's different from their other stuff. If you go in expecting the energy of 1984 or 5150 you'll be disappointed. The songwriting is more mature, the songs themselves are more layered, and the keys have more of a piano sound (think Right Now, not Jump).

Onto Sammy Hagar... If you don't have it, his I Never Said Goodbye might be a good place to start. It's from 1987, after he joined VH, and Eddie Van Halen plays bass on it so that makes things fun. My favorite Sammy Hagar album is Ten 13, from 2000. I'm not sure if I'd start with that one, but it is a great album. Actually, the best way to get into recent Sammy might just be to start with Marching To Mars (his first post-VH solo album, from 1997) and go chronologically from there.

Fantastic win by Fernando Alonso. Best pace in the race.
Two wins in a row.
Will we see him in Ferrari next year, or shall we have to wait till 2010 ?

ibanezguitars: I'm just watching the re-run of the race now, but yes it looks like an 'interesting' race. Good for Alonso as well, you a fan I take it? Only a matter of time before the Ferrari machine gobbles him up =D
Got to love a bit of Floyd, really classy band that.

Listening to: The Enigmatic by Joe. (has anyone noticed how similar this sounds to the jam they have after Circles on Live! ?)

Hi Joe. My name is Ilya, I am your sincere fan, I live in small town near Moscow. I have been playing guitar many years, but I could’t buy quality expensive guitar all this time. I was collecting money for my new guitar whole last year, and after your last concert in Moscow in B1 club I decided to buy Ibanez JS1200, because it’s new guitar’s model from your Ibanez’s JS series. I have bought it from official Ibanez’s dealer – Muzztorg in Moscow. I was very happy with my new guitar at first time, but then some problems have disappeared with tremolo EDGE-PRO. Three thin strings – E,B,G have sound with unpleasant ring and I have to tune my guitar every time after using tremolo-arm. I was very pity to know – the stud bolts are making from soft metal a kind of brass. I am an engineer and I think such tremolo must be making from solid steel, but really it’s not right! The string saddles are making from soft material too! I changed strings carefully several times (I use 009 DR or 009 D’Addario), but it didn’t solve this problem. I have studied Ibanez’s user manual and I kept to your recommendations thoroughly, but it couldn’t help my guitar to be in tune! Joe, please help me! What I have to do for improving my tremolo? Can I change any parts of it for solving my problems? What tremolo is suitable for replacing of EDGE-PRO?

Thanks in advance. Best regards, Ilya.
