ZuperDave - Thanks for sharing the setlist. It looks a little bit shorter than the rest of the world, and I'm bummed Cryin' is missing, but other than that it looks pretty solid.

You mention Down, Down, Down at the end...I assume you actually mean Going Down, the Jeff Beck song from the first G3 album? I think someone else mentioned that one in a review...

"More to tell"...did you get to meet Satch?

OutOfTheSetlist....yes I meant "Going Down"....they should have just named it the other way...lol. And yes, Stu was doing a "Going To California" diddy as part of the overall solo. I was sure I was hearing that while he played but was'nt entirely sure until you mentioned it. He was awesome...and it was obvious that Joe was happy to have him there. After the show we went and had a beer (or three) and then headed for the hotel. Before I get ahead of myself...we ran into Mike Manning standing by a side door having a cigarette before the show. We were hungry so we just said a quick "hello" and went to find some eats. OK....on the way back to the hotel we got lucky and caught Joe signing guitars and taking pic's with fans. He was busy so we just kind of hung back and watched. What I failed to notice right away was the van parked waiting for Joe to finish and whisk him away. Inside the van was Galen and Jeff, so we went and shook their hands and wished them well. I introduced Jeff to my friend Eric as "my drummer guy"...and Jeff shook his hand and said that the world needs more "drummer guy's" and theres too many "guitar guy's" out there...lol...

Have a bit more to tell in a later post tonight...

cheese101 - We did get Musterion and Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat on the Guitar Center, although I know it isn't the same without the band. I'd be more bummed if we had those back in the set but missed out on something else rare...but aside from the new album I guess Time Machine is the only rarity.

I'm not Joe, but I'd argue against SWTA and Summer Song both being in a slightly shorter set like this. And I've said this before, but it bugs me that certain songs seem to only show up in a set together. It's great to have Ice Nine and One Big Rush, but Joe played both of them on last year's G3 tour. Only having one of the two would be cool (I'd lean toward One Big Rush...I've heard it less), and that'd free up another spot for a Cryin' or something else.

I know this isn't An Evening With, but I'm also surprised at how few albums he's pulling songs from.

Anyway, I'm not complaining, I'm only discussing...

I know Austin, I'm not complaining either....not much anyway, lol....I saw Joe in Ireland for 2 shows and they were longer and included those 4 songs I posted about and they were great live. I like as much Joe as I can get, and he had an opening act then too, so don't know why it's that much shorter for the US tour but I'm sure there's a good reason....I'm just spoilt :)

Ok...I have time to finish the story now ;)

After Joe finished signing stuff, some dude said that was it and escorted him to the van. I did'nt get to talk to him, but managed to wish him luck as he passed by. I was just happy to be there.. But as the van was getting ready to leave, Joe looked up at me, and I gave him a double thumbs-up, and he gave a thumbs-up back. That was the icing on the cake for the whole trip...

Also during the show Joe brought out his "doodle" guitar. The replica of the one he used in the early days. He told the story about how the original was stolen and how he had to buy it back from the jerk(s) who took it. And how the dumb-asses rubbed all of Joe's scribbles off of it , probably thinking it would fetch more that way or whatever. Anyways...a great story that I was not aware of before.

One more thing....When Leslie West came out at the end, him and Joe were both playing identical guitars... a Leslie West signature guitar....and Joe said he bought his from Leslie and it was #49...proclaming that it must be his lucky number for the tour.

roo, if you have some place to post doodle pics that would be cool, maybe they would let you link off of Joe's site.

Does anybody know a good way to protect the sharpie signiture and doodle? like clear coat paint or some other means,to preserve the artwork forever, or until they fire up the Haldron Collider, in which case we wont exsist, so that wont matter.

Busy diggin out old vhs of Joe's "Satch tapes" and the vhs of his self titled cd. shows a bunch of takes of "luminous flesh giants" and the ground work for "If" which is a very cool tune, would luv to see that live. and ends with a studio video of " Your my world"

I wonder if Joe would ever consider offering audio cd's of the concert you just attended or even better yet video. They could take orders at the venue and mail out. Speaking for myself, id probably drop 100.00 for a good concert dvd, of the one you just attended.

just a couple thoughts.

Joe Satriani : Hey Joe, hope the tour is going well. Still looks good for the Durham, NC on Oct 25 for me... I'll be the guy wearing the NASA hat and/or Superman T-shirt (Cainan, er, "lazermario", from Rockline back in April). Anyway, if I get to actually talk to ya, I will have something for ya.

Do The Stu : ... far far too much to enumerate, but thanks for asking. BTW, I should have my setlist put together in a few mins, then bed.

calylac : thanks for the reference to Ronald Jenkees . I checked him out on YouTube- he is indeed pretty cool.

fatape - Argh...so if he did Cryin' in Australia it means he just now dropped it. Hmmm...I guess I can cross my fingers and hope that it comes back, but I doubt it.

Does anyone know when Cryin' was last played in the US? I've been a fan since EOC and it hasn't been played going back at least that far.

michelle, your first Satch show was a few years earlier than mine...do you remember if you've ever seen Cryin'?

roffler - Thanks for the info...I work the swing shift so I'll be sound asleep when that's on, but hopefully someone here can catch it and fill us all in.
ZuperDave - Thanks for the extra info...and way to go with the thumbs-up. :-)

It's neat to hear that Joe played a Leslie West model guitar. I've never seen him play anything other than Ibanez in concert, so it'll be neat if he keeps that up for the rest of the tour.

One last question...how long would you say Mountain played? 45 minutes?

Bmadd4 - The new guitar with the scribbles on it is a re-creation of one Joe's that he had doodled all over...it was stolen and wiped clean (check out ZuperDave's recent post for info). The new guitars are illustrated by someone else, based off pictures of Joe's original guitar.
Unklpunk - I don't know what the best way to preserve a signature would be. I think the best bet is to get your guitar signed in a spot that you aren't always touching. If you get it signed right under where your forearm rests as you're playing I don't think any amount of clear coat paint or spray will save it.
lazermario - It's good to hear that you'll be able to make your Satch gig...

I don't see your setlist on your profile...I guess you didn't finish it quite yet?

Guitar case and cert in my hot little hands! WooHoo. I also got a nice letter from Ibanez congratulating me on getting an early release from the first production run. VERY happy! Black Dog is back in his luxury dog house.

Also, First doodles are trickling in. As I said, start by sending them to me (prefer with a story on how it was made, where, when, what it's title is, etc. So if you send me a pick of a guitar with 3 doodles, let me know if there was any name, description or story Joe gave you about each or any of them.

I don't expect to get all doodles, that will be impossible. But if I get a starting set I can use it to populate the initial doodle gallery and then let you guys loose in there posting your own.

I am investigating the right technology to use and will hopefully get something up and running in a week or so.

Is this set list shorter than the one he had on the European tour? Perhaps he is wearing down from a long tour. If that's the case, that would kind of stink for us on the tail end. I agree with Out of the Setlist (or the "Poster formerly known as Do the Stu LOL) It is strange that Joe is pulling so few songs from the many great albums he has.

OutOfTheSetlist.....yeah I think Mountain played for at least an hour. Mountain Started at 7:30 and the whole thing was over by 10:40 pm.. A little shorter than I would have liked, we all could have sat through a few more tunes for sure.

And to those people who left reviews and said the Minneapolis crowd was lame? This is'nt a Korn concert for pete's sake. I saw people ranging in age from 10 to 65 years old... If you want a "mosh pit"....go see another band ;)
