Guitarman77897 - Hey I totally agree...YOU DONT GO TO SEE JOE (OR PAUL) AND NOT STAY FOR THE WHOLE GIG....

When I saw him in london ...the guy next to me said that he liked Joe but he was really there to see Paul Gilbert...anyway...Paul comes on, the guy stays for about three songs then disappears...he came back at the interval....then stayed for about 2 of joes songs...left and didn't come back ....although he did say he would have to leave a bit early to go to work....but still....

WHY DID HE BOTHER!

Its just darn right disrespectful, stupid, a waste of money and time....hmmm this list could go on and on!

Hugs Satriella xx

Guns N' Roses to release new album next month

NEW YORK (Billboard) - More than a decade after its conception, Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" will finally see the light of day before year's end, sources close to the situation told Billboard.

The set will be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, November 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.

In the run-up to release date, album track "Shackler's Revenge" will debut in the video game "Rock Band 2," while a portion of "If the World" is playing over the end credits in the new Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies."

In addition, GNR's seminal 1987 full-length debut, "Appetite for Destruction," will be reissued on vinyl on October 28 via Interscope.

The band's last new studio albums were the simultaneously released "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" in September 1991. A covers set, "The Spaghetti Incident?," followed in 1993, and featured some of the last GNR recordings from original guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

This spring, soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the beverage to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" were to arrive anytime during the calendar year 2008. A Dr Pepper spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

Out Of The Sunrise: Well, I got 'Not of this Earth', 'The Extermist', 'FIABD' and 'Joe Satriani'. So unfortunately, no Time Machine yet...=D And I agree with you about mixing up setlists, I've got to the point where I fast forward songs like Satch Boogie and Cool#9 on DVDs just because I've seen them so many times!
Was speaking to this guy in Biology today, turns out he plays guitar. So I obviously say "Ever heard of Joe Satriani?" Now, so far everyone I've asked has said either "Yes, but not actuyally heard him" or "Who?" But get this, this guy said "Yes, I've got 3 of his albums." That had me gobsmacked...his fav is Crystal Planet , but. There is a but. He said, and I quote, "The trouble with his stuff is it can get a bit boring without any lyrics." Oh dear.....=D

JOE! My wife and I caught your show in Royal Oak, MI last night...incredible! Really enjoyed Mountain too, Leslie West is a character and the Goin Down jam was great, you guys really looked like you were having fun. WE ALL HAD FUN! Thanks for a great night! ALSO, Kudos to Jeff, Stu and Galen...what a great group of outstanding musicians! Also, to the crew, impressive teamwork and you guys helped make the show a HIT! If I (and a whole lot of other people) awarded Grammys, you'd need another bus to carry em'. God bless and take care...

fatape - You're welcome...

Zinc Master - It's interesting to see a GNR release date (again). I'm doubting it, though. Best Buy doesn't have anything listed on their website, and the release is only six weeks away. The Sunday release date sounds fishy, too.

I don't think the movie/video game soundtrack stuff is any indication that the album is done. They had a song in End Of Days, the Arnold Schwarzenegger film, waaay back in 1999.

I'd love to be proven wrong with all of this, but I don't even know if I'm going to bother to buy the album. So...

slanshroom - Awesome...thanks for the marimariSRV update. :-)

So (UK'ers), did anyone check out the Guitar program on Sunday night on BBC1? 2 more episodes, looks like Hendrix on this weeks show (amongst others). Hoping they show some Joe in episode 3

I learnt that the guitar developed from something called a cittern/gittern and that instrument was so widely available for a man to play (due to being something to pass the time at the barbers?) it became associated with "women of easy virtue"... with gittern/slattern becoming an insult (slattern meaning slut)?

So there you go, guess that means all guitarists play with tarts? LOL

Can anyone help Do the Stu and I with who's playing this Flintstones theme tune?

Out of the Stu/Cheese - are there any set lists in the reviews as I can't imagine the show would be that short. I've never been to a 'short' Joe show, so does he do that when back home?

Do the Setlist - does that mean your previous nick is permanently reserved by your email address?

Roo - congrats on tracking down the case candy, sigh of relief huh! Glad to hear you play it too. So which of them (4 rare models right?) plays/sounds best to you?

Igneousiceman - I guess by entertaining I mean still trying to control the car etc etc right up to the nano second before the impact. After that I'd say it's generally unpleasant, but your brain rationalises it.

Keniko - did you see my post about the JSX? I was curious about it, if you wouldn't mind answering? I know very little on Amps so if you can pass on some knowledge that would be cool

Gnite all

hey everyone, since were talking about Van Halen, i grew up listeining to them. they were like my favorite band for a long time. when i saw them tour with eddies son wolfgang, last summer i enjoyed the show but eddie didn't play as hard. Michael Anthony was definitly missed. eddie didn't jam like they did in the day '79 i.e. that was the quickest version of Eruption or maybe just a snippet. seemed slower too. anyway i always liked sammy with them. sammy on chicago radio said someone should bring a david lee roth poster with a circle and a line through ya know. well, i did.. and somebody confiscated it when i went to get a beer. probably ripped it to shreds ..lol

Oh boy, about a week late but, sincere! Joe's gig in Edmonton was just INSANE (as js1200xxx mentioned)! BTW: I've posted some photos at: http://www.therockgeneration.com/news-ns232.html

We hope Joe will consider Calgary and Edmonton more often!!!

Now, my son and I were going to duct tape our socks on for our photo with Joe but, there were too many people and the meet was rather hurried so we decided to help 'streamline' the process and sacrifice the idea. Non the less, we love the new album and wish Joe a lot of success with it!

js1200xxx: great guitars, do you play in a band?

Out of the Setlist - You are probably right. I think you would certainly be one of the few that really liked that Van Halen III experiment. I never personally thought it was aweful, but it just never seemed like Charone had quite the pipes to go with Eddie's playing. He was pretty admirable...and I'll give him this...he had balls. when the Sammy era ended, there were some HUGE shoes to fill! Van Halen's best commercial success was with Sammy.

I really wish you right about the comment that Eddie had about 20 songs already in the can. It would be very cool to get them released. But you are certainly right about Eddie's ego. That guy just can't seem to get over himself.

JOE SATRINI & DO THE STU:- I'm kind of guessing here, but the Flinstone Theme COULD be Vinnie Moore. It SOUNDS like his tone, but some of the phrasing sounds a little unlike him, so i can't be 100% sure. Hope that helps, guys!

THEmonk - Welcome to the site! Tell us a bit about yourself...

Irvin_Cools - Welcome to you, as well... Joe plays a lot of gigs in Europe on each tour. He started there this time, though, so you'll probably have to wait until the next album to catch a show.
Joe Satrini - ZuperDave posted the setlist in just a few days ago...here it is.

It looks to be about five songs shorter than it was at the start of the European tour (no Crushing Day, Musterion, OOTS, or DYADD, to name a few), although some of that is give and take because he probably jams out more as the tour goes on. I created a quick playlist of the set in iTunes and adding time for live stuff (the longer Always..., Stu's solo, etc.) it looks like the show is about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I think that makes this his shortest headlining show in the US since I've been going to his concerts (my first Satch show was the opening night of the EOC tour). But looking at all of his concerts I've seen, this is somewhere in the middle. It's longer than his G3 sets, obviously, as well as his opening sets (for Deep Purple, 2004) or co-headlining sets (with Dream Theater, 2002).

To answer your other question...I'm not sure if old nicknames are linked to or reserved for their original account, but I doubt they are. I think Do The Stu is original enough to where no one would coincidentally pick it over the next month. If someone picked it intentionally, well, depending on what was done with the name it could possibly be considered impersonation / identity theft and cause some legal problems.

I guess I don't know...maybe I'll log in as my dad or brother and see if I can change one of them to Do The Stu. ;-)

lorenzo001 - I skipped the "reunion" with David Lee Roth because Michael Anthony wasn't there...I thought that was pretty lame. I did catch the 2004 reunion with Sammy Hagar, though...that was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
markk - Thanks for sharing your photos.
hybes - I didn't know much about Extreme back Van Halen III came out, but I do now and I have to admit I almost shuddered for a moment when I saw that YouTube video from the III tour. But I think had Gary stayed in the band for a few more albums they could have done some awesome stuff together.

About Eddie's ego, in this case I guess I was trying to say that it wouldn't surprise me to find out he's exaggerating and the "10 or 20 songs" I've heard him mention in interviews are just a few dozen riffs on a tape buried somewhere in his studio.

Sammy left Van Halen and the band released two songs with DLR and one album with Gary Cherone...then they did the three new songs with Sammy just a few years ago. In that same amount of time, Sammy has released six solo albums, at least four live CDs or DVDs, and a bunch of other little things here and there.

I love EVH, I really do, but I think it's obvious he's been the problem this whole time. It's sad.

roffler - Ah, Gary Hoey! I think that Flintstones thing could be him, even if you can't find any evidence anywhere. Does anyone else know for sure?

...Austin...
