Hey guys! Nice to see you all here again!
I wanted to ask if anyone knows when the Js guitar design contest is going to have its results published... Can anyone who is better informed than me help me with that? :) Thank you in advance.
not much to say anymore, except I'm listening to your work, Joe. Thank you very much!! > Love Thing (Crystal Planet album)
Hope your new album is coming out sometime; but not rushing it. Art is worth its time!
Wondering: Do you guys (fans and partners) play Joe's songs as for covers a lot or do you compose more?

Here's a little info on the Wormhole theory. Haven't had a chance to read it all yet, but along with the Black Swan Theory, this all seems right up Joe's alley.

Hey Satchland, comments and questions for everyone with the answers.
I was watching the dvd for SWTA on the legacy edition rerelease from 2007 and these things came to mind.
1. Why isn't the actual Surfin song part of the dvd?
2. When Joe, Jon and Stu came onstage it was crickets, but by the end of the concert you could hear and see the crowd digging it. And the rest as we all know it now is Satch History.
3. Took me back to when I first heard Surfin' which was during the winter of 89-90. I heard it on the radio around the South Padre Island area of Southern Texas. All I could ask my cousins was who is this kicking my ass. "Some guy named Joe" is all they said.
4. I remember I played the label off of my cassette, then I bought it again and did it again. I think I still have the same DVD I bought in the 90's
5. and finally, My name is Blue Buffalo aka Freddy AND I AM A SATCHAHOLIC.... Who is in need of a new satch fix and my dealer of fixes is teasing me with album titles but no fix..lol

@bluebuffalo- It seems that a lot of people were introduced to Joe with SWTA or Time Machine, believe or not. I hear a lot of the usual with the SWTA story, but some strange Time machine stories. With Surfing With The Alien, it's basically people heard it on the radio and they stopped dead in their tracks. And the rest is history.
But for the Time machine, it's different. On Youtube, one guy said he was walking down the street and some guy handed him the Time Machine album brand new. The guy said (not quoting exactly) You will enjoy the music when you listen and because of that, you will buy the rest of his albums for years to come. Don't know if it's true or not, but why would somebody make it up. What's the point of lying on Youtube.
And there was another story. Also from Youtube. This one, is more believeable.
This guy has a brother who listens to Joe. He never cared to listen to his brothers musical opinions, so he lets it pass. Then he gets dumped by his girlfriend. She drops him off at some record shop. He walks up to it, finds the slightly damaged, two-disc Time Machine album lying on the ground outside the shop, and picks it up. Takes it home, pops it in, and listens to it. He has been "infatuated" with Joe music ever since.
Strange stories but I always enjoy finding out how people get into being a Satch fan. Mine isn't all too riveting.
@turbo236- Actually, big Youtube user, Chuggaaconroy, was talking about black holes on one of his videos, recently. I'm not sure if anybody here would know about him because he does commentary on Nintendo video games as he plays them. Anyway he was describing the theory that it would be "the most painful death" anybody could witness. Your body would go through "spaghettification". Everybody here probably has heard the theory that your body is stretched out just like spaghetti when you enter a black hole. Apparently it's worse than that. Check it out. Chuggaaconroy explains Black Hole Theory On Super Luigi Galaxy You only have to watch 7:07 to 7:44 to see what he's talking about.

My "intro to Joe" story, as told here on 02-25-03:
The story of my introduction to Satch isn't very interesting, but oh well. ;-) Back in 8th grade, a guitar-playing friend of mine introduced me to Eric Johnson's Cliffs Of Dover. I knew that song and liked it. I also thought his new song at the time, Pavillion, was really cool. So I bought a few EJ CDs, and eventually ended up with the G3 live album. I fell in love with Joe's music because of that CD. I think The Extremist was the first "real" Joe album that I bought, followed by Time Machine. I got into Crystal Planet after hearing Lights Of Heaven on the radio a few times...man, it's hard to imagine that there was a time when I could hear Joe on the radio...hehe.

When I started this post I thought I had the album title all figured out, but the more I think about it, the more I need to continue thinking about it. If that makes sense....
The man behind the idea says that black swans are "undirected and unpredicted" And a wormhole is basically a tunnel with two ends each in separate points in spacetime. The wormhole theory discusses using these for space travel and what not. As someone mentioned earlier, a Black Swan Event has to meet 3 criteria; I won't re post them, but maybe the title is just a reference to a 'wizard' traveling though space and time unexpectedly on a very important journey. A journey he knows nothing about until it is completed?
Or, most likely, I am dead wrong. I'll read a little more about the two when I have some more time because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Maybe Joe Satriani will give us some background on that name in the meantime??

I'm not sure if this has made the national news yet, but...
Remains of babies dead for possibly 70 years found in L.A. basement
The bodies of two babies wrapped in Los Angeles Times newspapers from the 1930s were found in an apartment building basement near downtown L.A.
Workers found the bodies Tuesday evening when cleaning out the basement. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the remains were found with personal letters and tickets to the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The LAPD and the Los Angeles coroner's office are investigating. A coroner's official told The Times that the newspaper-wrapped bodies of the children had a mummified appearance.
More info:
Mysterious woman is at center of probe into dead babies found in L.A. basement
There might not be any foul play involved, but this whole thing has the setup of a murder mystery...what an interesting story.

JOE SATRIANI, one of rock music’s most renowned electric guitarists, has announced that his 14th studio album, Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards, is to be released in the UK on Monday, October 4th via Epic Records (Tuesday, October 5th in North America). The album release dovetails Satch’s fall UK tour, which kicks off on October 17th at the Manchester Apollo.
On the new album, Satriani’s classic sound is accompanied by a surprisingly rich new texture. The first single,'Light Years Away', is destined to be a hit, alongside several other high energy offerings, like 'Wormhole Wizards' and 'Premonition'.

'Light Years Away'

'Wormhole Wizards'
'Wind In The Trees'
'God Is Crying'
Satriani joined with former VAN HALEN front man SAMMY HAGAR, former bassist Michael Anthony, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS’ drummer Chad Smith, to form the stand-out rock collaboration, CHICKENFOOT. After a highly successful world tour, their self-titled debut album was certified gold in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America with over 500,000 sales.
Over the last two decades, Joe Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star G3 guitar extravaganza. As one of the world’s most renowned instrumental artists, Satriani recorded Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock! in 2008 at The Grand Rex Theater in Paris, France. The live two-disc CD and DVD was released in February 2010 through Epic Records and contained such memorable songs as 'Surfing With The Alien', 'Flying in a Blue Dream', along with recent hits like 'Super Colossal' and 'I Just Wanna Rock'. Of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them.

Michelle--Thanks, I needed that. Life ain't easy with my emotional disturbances and Steve's seizures and other health probs.
Austin--What a treat the way you learned you loved Satch's music and hearing it on the radio. The only song of Joe's I've heard on the radio is AWMAWY!
Gotta go get my car serviced this morning.
Hope everyone is well and at least content if not happy.

ALSO>>>>>>>
By editor: Jermy Leeuwis on August 19, 2010.
In 2002, legendary guitarist Joe Satriani
performed the National Anthem for the Opening Day of Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s. Now, that historic season opener is being recreated, complete with Satriani’s stirring Anthem rendition, for the brand new Sony Pictures movie Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, based on the 2003 novel Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael M. Lewis.
Satriani will perform the National Anthem as he did on Opening Day back in 2002, keeping director Bennett Miller’s pursuit of authentic recreation. Filming for Joe’s Anthem scene took place on August 3 in the Oakland Coliseum, site of the A’s home stadium. Moneyball is the story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget, employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players using a modernized, analytical approach and assembling a competitive baseball team, despite Oakland's disadvantaged revenue situation. HOW COOL IS THAT....(too cool I'd say) :-)
