How long did it take everyone to get the mp3 download after you preordered the cd?
I pre ordered mine last week and haven't seen anything about the mp3 yet. Can't wait for the cd to come out! I will also be getting the itunes version, as Joe said it will have a bonus track.

Just finished listening to the Dream Song excerpt and while not quite as quickly hooked as I was on Light Years Away & God Is Crying, the way this song/exerpt builds and develops in complexity, depth, and melodic direction will make for a great road trip soundtrack. I like the change at the 1:30 mark in the sample.
Thanks for the post, Pip!

all - if you haven't already picked up your free mp3 of "Light Years Away", check it out now at http://satriani.com/lightyearsaway -- we're giving it to ya for a tweet or facebook post to see how that works to help spread the news of the new album :}
do the stu - ended up missing the dmb show due to car failure (long story). joe's rehearsal for the tour starts at the end of the month so i think you still have some time to make your suggestions for songs :}
logicbdj - you can send things to Joe Satriani Music, PO Box 2830, Santa Rosa, CA 95405 but understand he doesn't have time to listen to everything sent to him.
Guitarman77897 - it sounds like you may be having some problems with cookies in your browser. try clearing them all out and see if that helps.
Pip55 - we're just putting the final touches on the first podcast episode and i think you'll love it-- it'll be released soon!
the foot laid it down big and loud in tahoe! - hope everyone who made it out had a blast. i can tell you that we did and the band was having a blast -- you could see it was a treat for them all to just have 2 shows in a row to unleash and have a good time and the back stage vibe was more of the same. we have some good video archives of the show and backstage shenanigans which we'll be browsing through for doing something with later on...

Plz suggest how i should start about learning musical theory properly. i have just started learning scales n modes n pentatonics but i am having a hard time in mixing them up while soloing. i am self taught hence i have a learnt at a slow yet steady pace. i know m a long shot but its my love for music that makes me take these steps. One thing I wanted to post now-
Joe Satriani: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing the National Anthem Saturday night. That is without a doubt the single most memorable moment out of any concert I have ever been to. I am still so overcome with emotions just from the thought of it that I can't even think of the right words to describe it. Thank you again..
Glad to finally be home... Well, we got home about 6 hours ago, but I'm just now getting around to the computer and about to head to bed. I see that Austin and Tracie posted pretty thorough reviews about the show; if I think of anything else tonight, I'll post it tomorrow. Also, I've got probably 110 pics of mostly Joe- a few of Sammy. I noticed today that a FEW of them didn't turn out, but for the most part I think I got pretty lucky. Actually, I think I got a couple of pretty decent shots of Joe this time around, especially considering the old school camera I use. Time to start shopping for a new one. But first, sleep. I'll probably wake up sometime Wednesday. I drove straight from Tahoe with one caffeine/bathroom/fuel break in Winnemucca and made it in about 9 hours. I took my chances on a speeding ticket in Oregon and took almost 45 minutes off my trip; hardly passed another vehicle the whole trip except for a few 18 wheelers. Listened to GYBO all the way home to keep me awake....
Priority 1 tomorrow is to go to Best Buy and pick up a new copy of the CF DVD because I gave mine away last week. "So others may Foot". I'm kind of regretting that now because the first thing I wanted to do when I walked in the door was watch the DVD and it was 11:30. Oh well. I'm off to bed. Will try to post the pics tomorrow.
Ian

Sunny... when I started getting into scales and modes, I learned chunks at a time... in other words, a pattern at one part of the neck, then another pattern shifted down the neck (which interlocked into the other pattern). Does that make sense? I think that's how most of us learned who were not reading music, but going by sight of the guitar fingerboard. Then, when I soloed, I only did so one section or pattern at a time relative to the key I was in or the mode I was in (e.g., the key of A minor would suggest A minor/aeolian scale, for example). Then after a bit of soloing on that one pattern on one part of the guitar neck, I moved down to the next memorized pattern on the guitar fretboard and did some improv there. Doing this enough allows you to expand your soloing ability over time... you are not so locked into a particular chunk or pattern on the fretboard, but can see and 'feel' what notes are right over the entire fretboard. It just takes a lot of improv practice to get there.

Satriani Toronto Show, December 8, 2010
Not sure if others are having problems buying the meet and greet tickets. I went on last night and such tickets were not available. Would these be sold out, or are they not offered for that particular show?

Hey guys, I'm new to this site! Here's my situation, wonder if anyone can help. I scored 2 tickets to Joe's Dec 8 concert at Massey Hall in Toronto. I'm taking my 11 year old with me. This is gonna be his first concert EVER! He's a big Satch fan. My question is, how would it be possible for my boy to meet his favorite guitarist in the whole world?? I'd do anything possible for that, just to give him the chance to meet his idol!
If possible Joe, I hope you read this and somehow can get back to me, it would be the highlight of the kids young life :) Thanks!!

Hi Joe !
Going to see you at Nokia Theater for the First Time Ever with my Brother. I really can't wait for the show.
since you asked for some suggestions for the setliste here they are.
Keep Ghosts in the set, that song is too awesome, and if you want to keep another satchafunk song inthere I would go with revelation, another beauty.
As far as older stuff goes how about Hordes of Locusts from your first album , That song could use a dusting off.
Also i would be in heaven is you would Play Secret Prayer from, crystal planet. Not sure if you ever played that one live but that is my most favorite track !
See You in December ! Cant wait to hear the new songs live !
Edit; Just saw the top choices posted, I'll Take train of Angels since Secret prayer didn't make the list. And Rubina would be a Thrill !

Did the FB post and got the MP3, just listened to it through my Bose noise cancelling 'phones. Not bad at all! It reminded me about the bits I don't care too much for about the 'Foot, the bits in between Joe's solos LOL.
Another thing, is Campitelli getting better? For me he seems to be holding a groove on LYA, rather than the all too often backing drums.

DistortedSoul - Wow! That's a long time. Thanks for the info. I was starting to think that the MP3 download was no longer offered.
Guessing we're about a week or so from the podcasts starting back up? Can't wait for those.
Hey Joe - Any chance you'll ever do It's So Good in a setlist? I just love that song. Puts me in a good mood every time I hear it!!

for fellow Canadians in Ontario... www.experiencehendrixtour.com will be in Ottawa and Toronto in October. Tickets are now on sale. I'm in the middle about 75 feet back... not too bad! Steve Vai and several others will be playing. Can't wait. I want to see the Satriani Concert a few months later, but still trying to get meet and greet tickets, which currently are not available for some reason.

Come on, everyone...MusicRadar is asking fans for questions for Joe, but it looks like Tracie and I are the only T2Jers who have submitted anything!
http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/ask-musicradar-submit-your-questions-for-joe-satriani-276845
You can also submit questions through Facebook and Twitter, but I bet the odds of your question being seen by a human are better if you submit through the site.
turbo236 - Glad to hear you made it back safely! See you again in January, probably... ;-)
scubadaz - Thanks for the link, and for your quick summary of the interview yesterday.
Grampy Steve - I really like what Jeff is doing on LYA. He's not getting better--he's always been this good...I think he just has more room to be himself on this track than he has in the past. Anyway, whatever the reason...I like it!
