I'm finally caught up...woohoo!
JS_JS - A few days ago you asked which of Satch's Grammy-nominated songs each of us would have liked to have won. It doesn't look like you got many responses, but my choice is an easy one:
Always With Me, Always With You (Live In San Francisco)
Why? Because I was there. :-)
roo - I think it'd be great to hear Satch do some movie soundtrack work. One Big Rush appears in the movie Say Anything, as you probably know...that's before my time as a fan, but I think I remember from somewhere that the song was actually written specifically for the movie. So I think that's kinda cool...
I posted this way back when the movie came out, but I think Engines Of Creation would have made a good soundtrack for the second Matrix movie...
Blue_Moon - Good to hear that you like your Fulltone pedal...do you have any videos using it yet?
mikesb - "Am I old or something? What or who are Coldplay?? Larfin me arse off....."
I must have missed your post the first time through, but I just saw it now. Thanks for making me smile. :-)
Al Surfer - It's cool to see you hear again...thanks for stopping by.
I've never seen Roy Rogers in concert, but I think it'd be a cool show to see. It's nice that you had a good time...
How old is your son now?
cosmic_ape - Thanks for taking the time to post your analysis of the Coldplay thing...it's very informative. And you make a great point that it isn't the key, it's the relationship between the notes that matters.
You also make a good point about "two feel" vs. "four feel"...
novjul - "The moral of that lost afternoon is this: NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT because bystanders can't tell the difference!"
Excellent advice! Thanks for taking all that time, so I don't have to...hehe. ;-)
gingerpants - Hi...welcome to the site!
cheese101 - I'll send you an email in a bit, but I highly recommend the SanDisk Sansa View. I have the 16 GB version. I know there's an 8 GB one, and I think they might be making a 32 GB one soon. Anyway, it's really simple to use. It's not an iPod so you won't be stuck using iTunes to do everything for you. It's compatible with any program you want...and if you don't want to use a music-managing program you can just drag and drop files onto it as if it were a flash drive or a floppy disk. Easy...
And thanks for posting the Music Radar interview. I REALLY like that website...they come up with some great stuff.
Antonio59 - No, there isn't a way to buy Satch CDs direct from this site...
Ethn Hayabusa - Hi...it's nice to see you around here again. Don't be a stranger...
michelle - Thanks for posting that Reefer Head Woman video. I'm not sure if you know, but that's actually a cover of an Aerosmith song from 1979 (off of Night In The Ruts). It's not one of their more popular songs, obviously, but I like it. So it's neat to hear another version of it...
And in response to the Godsmack thing, Joe HAS done that. I've never seen it in stores, though.
ibanezguitars - I may have told you this before, but I've seen a lot of very cool Satch things over the years but No. 1 for me remains the version of Searching I saw Joe play in Ventura in 2005. Awesome...
SuperDaveMcCarthy - Let us know how the doctor visit goes. I hope things aren't too bad.
Listening to: John Butler Trio - Live At St. Gallen (current song: Betterman)
...Austin...

it's 10:45 am over here, doesn't that make it the early hours where you are DO THE STU ?
just spent an hour on the you tube site reading the comments left on the JS v CP video, damn there are some ignorant people about ! over here we have a newspaper called THE SUN, they have posted what they call a flaw in Joe's case by supplying a link to some french bird who's also used the same chord progression... is this gonna drag on? has a can of worms been opened here or what?
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article2013268.ece
I know exactly how the britsh press are gonna paint this, as brits the sun tell us we should look down on people who sue, saying it is a 'typical american' culture. they then have a 4 page spread of adverts telling us we can sue the local government if they failed to empty our bin in september 1972 because it caused us stress. Typical. I l;ove being british but we are a bit c$%p sometimes !!!

I noticed a little interchange about amps and saw that one allegedly dices carrots. Can somebody tell me if it peels potatoes as well, coz if it does I want one!
Also, "tubby in the low end", What does that mean? My wife is a little tubby in the low end but that's another story!
Sorry if I spelt your name wrong Fritz! LMAO
My cloggie friends use the term affectionately, no offence intended.

maritime, been to Amsterdam three times, the longest stay being for 4 days. Loved it BUT loved the rest of the country more!!! (well maybe not Rotterdam) Brought my kids to Madurodam, (miniature village)they loved it. Loved the seacoast town near the "royals" summer palace excuse my memory Sheveningen or something like that? Of course when I made my first trip back in 1985 I thought you guys had the coolest most modern airport , Schipol, I had ever seen. In 1985 with strong Canadian currency CD shopping in Amsterdam was AWESOME.....Maybe it was on my second trip a couple of years later. My mind is going.....

after a busy morning insulting coldplay fans I have found myself asking the question; why does JS stand out above all the other artists/bands that I like? the answer is He is UNIQUE. no one else can combine technical skill and knowledge and still pack every single ounce of their emotion into each and every piece they create. does anyone know exactly how many days, hours and minutes worth of music satch has recorded over the years? I would like to know if they would fill an i-pod !!
love ya Joe, keep your chin up

A funny little story about an incident in Amsterdam.
Some years ago my wife and daughter came to visit me there and one afternoon we were walking along when I noticed a HUGE black man loitering in a shop doorway up ahead. Sure enough when he noticed us he eased away from the wall and started angling towards us. I made sure I was nearest to him and whispered to the wife that if anything kicked off she should just get our little girl to safety. Looking forward again I see the behemoth getting closer and closer with a look of grim determination on his face, as he was almost upon us he started leaning in towards me and I was like a coiled spring, every fibre in my body ready to fight to the death to ensure the safety of my wife and child. As we came level I maintained eye contact to get a clue as to when he would make his move and then he whispered in a voice so deep it seemed like it had come all the way from his boots .....
"Some dope?"
No thanks I said, i'm with the family. OK man, peace he said and ambled on his merry way.
I nearly pissed myself with relief!

Austin -
Nice to hear/see from you too.
It appears you're doing well and have your life started and well on its way. Very cool!
My oldest son is nearing 15 with school, guitar, mountain biking, and cross country (the season just ended) being his life at this point. It all keeps him busy which is good at this age (time for girls later). Thanks for asking.
All is good. Just having a blast going through time. It's funny and a trip how priorities change along the way. Wish I could check in here a bit more like 5+ years ago, but that's the way it goes. Noticed your "Live In S. F." mention - my kids like to look for the glimpses of me too. That was a great 2 days!
Satch is still huge at our house and we've told him so a few times. Workouts, housework, traveling, and good old down-time are much better with some Joe cranking! Joe & Rush are the universal tunes in this place that we all love (although my wife prefers Joe much more than Rush, but she goes with it (& gets dragged along to 2-3 shows a tour, ha)) with all kinds of other stuff playing in between. Music is the best!
Roy Rogers was a great show. He is fantastic! He thanked us 2 or 3 times for supporting live music which was cool. As did his drummer when he stopped by to join us. Definitely and sadly there is a big drop in folks actually putting down their remotes and leaving the house to go to a concert of musicians that actually play real instruments. In the past month we've been to a Buckethead show and a Giles Apap (amazing violinist) show and both were just over half full with their respective audiences.
Take care and "Keep On Rockin'" (with G3 of course)!
