Hi! I just want to say that you're my idol, Joe! I went to your concert in Milan 11.11.10 and you were great! Amazing! I don't know how can you do those amazing things with a guitar. But I went home disappointed. The Adrian group before you played for an hour!! And the were terrible!!! Terrible!! You can't call music what they did! I went to your concert to enjoy and instead, for three days I talk only about the noise which produced the band before you.
Another thing is that I waited for you with 10 other people for an hour and half. We wanted an autograph from our idol, it was cold as death outside, but you didn't show up at all. But I guess no one told you that we were outside.
I just wanted to say that the event which should had change my life was ruined by those three "musicians" before you, Adrian Belew tortured the guitar in a way I have never seen.
Sorry for the writing mistakes, but I'm a Serbian guy who lives in Italy.
All the best! I hope you will read this.
You are and you'll always be the best guitar player in the world!
Marko

there are some really cool photos (with Jeff asleep as usual;-))from Milan up on Facebook (my pages - Anibur Fielding) by 'Hakan Şükrü Akçay's'. I particularly like the large close up of Joe's fingers playing on the screen behind him.
Thanks for posting up Hakan! x

Hey everyone, I will be making my post now that I've listened to Satch's latest album.
My impressions remain the same:
-Joe's music give me feelings of sadness/joy/nostalgia and other such feelings, but I hardly find any song full of rock. I can appreciate deep emotions, but personally, I also need to hear something that just flat out rocks every now and then, and sadly, I don't hear any Surfing With The Alien mark II or Ice 9 mark II or maybe The Extremist mark II.
-The last few albums sound really like a lot more stuff is improvised, more chords and slow melodies occupy the musical space and fast, energetic legato licks are getting extremely rare. There are still dive bombs and other whammy bar wizardry, some pick tapping every now and then, but mainly the solo phrases consist of slower alternate picking licks.
-Sounds and atmosphere are all created with guitar/bass/drums purely. Whatever happened to all the cool percussions, harmonica leads, and other such excentricities Satch used to put in his songs, which made them awesome? Surfing With The Alien has voices, plane flying over your head sounds, Circles has weird yet awesome noises in the intro... whatever happened to all that? It's still there, but again, it's become so rare.
My conclusion: as usual, the new Satch CD is a solid effort. I can't really say Joe has run out of creative juice or can't play his guitar like he used to (and I know I personally think this of some guitar players who have created masterpieces), but I really hope the next album will have more rock n roll. I can't say I really spent a lot of time listening to Super Colossal, PSATMOR, Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards or Is There Love In Space in comparison to masterpieces like The Extremist, Surfing With The Alien, Flying In A Blue Dream which regularly play on my stereo.
Joe, turn up the tempo, unleash rock n roll and explore exotic instruments like you used to!

Greetings Mr.Satriani, somedays ago i was at your concert at Alcatraz club in Milan.
Ive been waited for 20 years to see your live performance, and I never though to say this: but you have disappointed me. Not for the performance itself, that was amazing, you, and your band are great, just as I expected and waited for a lifetime. But we were outside Alcatraz club, after the concert, waiting for you and you ran away without even greet us with a wave. We were not a crowd of thousand people, but only thirty ,more or less, maybe not blessed with the backstage pass but still yours fans waiting only for a signature. And that was a great displeasure.
Regards, a fan of yours

Are you sure it's background noise from outside or other? I ask since I did mic an amp with absolutely no problem. In fact, I had to add a boost to my computer recording software to hear the guitar enough. Consequently, it would be very difficult to pick up anything beyond the mic. What may be the problem is the grounding of the mic, the quality of the cable it's hooked up to, or even whether your mic is turned on properly (high or low impedance). I'm guessing here.

Kayla - Good luck on your essay for your scholarship !
In all seriousness >do have someone proof read it for you...these things matter when it comes to being granted a scholarship.
I just went to a meeting to learn about this with my son.....who is the process of doing some applications himself.
All the best & happy writing to you ! :)
