Joe Satrini--I hope your cat is restored to health. My friend's cat was in the hospital a few months back. He had to have surgery. I told my friend I wanted to visit him in the hospital. People enjoy company of friends and family while in hospital, so I figured a cat would like a visitor. He did. He wanted his face rubbed. The nurse opened the cage, helped me disinfect my hands and I got to pet Bailey. What a sweetie! He even purred and this was post-op!
Michelle--Your masculine side appears many times in this forum and you have verbally kicked my ass! You have also shown the humorous side of Barak Obama's diverse background with "There's no one as Irish as Barak Obama"! Thank you. ;-/
Slans--You are right about me. I need to see my endocrinologist ASAP.
SkippyGirl--Thank you for your encouragement. I will listen to the advice in Joe's song, "Just Look Up" I am enjoying every listen to ITLIS. Also, recently received Dire Straits "Making Movies" in the mail. My favorite song on that CD is "Solid Rock". Mark Knopfler says something that points to Joe and other great musicians, "I wanna live on solid rock, I'm gonna live on solid rock, I WANNA GIVE AND NOT BE BLOCKED, I wanna live on solid rock."

Thoroughly Golden Milli - Don't take ole Conch too much to heart, she's had a grouch at a few peeps (including myself) over the years but if she has any nasty bones in her body there aren't many. She might appear to have a hard shell (LOL, she is a shell!) but I reckon she has a nice soft centre. You can tell from these pages she's been a very good friend to Monterrey Trace (among others).
Peace out.

Coldplay Admits Plagiarism
By Jonathan Bailey • Jul 4th, 2005 • Category: News
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Coldplay front man Chris Martin has admitted to plagiarizing many, if not most, of the songs he wrote. Specifically, Chris said:
“We’re definitely good, but I don’t think you can say we’re that original,” he notes. “I regard us as being incredibly good plagiarists.”
In another article, the song “Fix You” was specifically mentioned as being a copy of Elbow’s “Grace Under Pressure”. To that, guitarist Jonny Buckland had this to say.
“We’ve never so directly stolen off anyone before. We’ve never paid for our plagiarism.”
Since I don’t listen to the bands involved and can’t say if this is true plagiarism or just a case of them being “hevaily inspired by”, I can’t really pass any judgment. However, despite that and this not being a case of Internet plagiarism, it’s worth noting for several reasons.
First is that it could indicate a shift in the views on plagiarism in the artistic community. Despite this very open admission and some very wide exposure regarding it, Coldplay has seen no backlash from its fans, from the bands that it “stole” from or the media.
Second is that it might become a justification in other plagiarists minds. Personally, I wonder if the “Coldplay excuse” will become common, no matter how irrational or legally unfounded it might be.
Finally, it shows just how deep plagiarism has worked its way into our artistic society when even the number one band admits to engaging in it. Those of us with original content and wish to protect it against misuse are facing something far more pervasive than previously imagined.
After all, if Coldplay does, who else does?

Michellica - I gotta tell you about just one of my problems, two hands with beer glasses and only one mouth. Aw shit man, decisions decisions, it's just not fair! Not only that, when I finally decide which one to drink I will only have one hand free to open the next beer and pour it out. Things can be kinda tough for simple sailors at times but I don't expect any sympathy from you. However, I do know where I can find sympathy, it's in the dictionary, somewhere between Shit and Syphilis! Meds time!! *laughs maniacally*

First of all:
Coldplaylover....GET THE F*CK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE NOT WELCOME HERE, and why does Joe disgust you? Coldplay copied the song it's not Joe's fault, it's like someone robs a bank(coldplay) and the police (mr Joe) catches them, the robber disgusts me and the cop is just doing his job.
negative 10 degrees here, negative 30 windchill with VERY strong winds. FRICKEN COLD
I just got back from my family christmas party, on the way there we saw three cars roll over from going to fast then stopping and sliding off the road and flipping upside down. then on the way back we saw another rollover. FREAKING SLOW DOWN....YOU DON'T NEED TO GO 10 OVER THE SPEED LIMIT IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE FULL OF ICE AND SNOW. and not to mention 4 foot high snow drifts pulling cars off the road like crazy snow monsters.
Little cousins can be really annoying, we slept over last night and this morning my 4 year old cousin used his new Indiana Jones sound effects WHIP to wake me up....most painful alarm clock in the world. then the snooze alarm was a Nerf dart gun to the back of the head at point-blank range....OW...
over all the party was fun, there is never a dull moment in a family get-together. it's fun having a big family. my mom had 2 sisters and three brothers, each one brings their spouse/girl/boyfriend and almost all of them have kids, so there are like 20 people in the house each one giving me presents, I made over $100 so thats nice.
all for now, I might think of something later so L8R
>.<

Martin loves technology as much as Kip Dynamite — he and the band have spent hours on their computers referencing their favorite works, for their own sordid purposes.
Chris Martin .. “We can be working on something and go, ‘We should steal this from My Bloody Valentine and this from Rammstein and this from Jay-Z’s first album, and then listen to this classical piece by Holst,’ ” he says.
“It’s a plagiarist’s paradise. We used to just be able to steal off Radiohead. Now we can steal off everybody.”

Hi everyone...sorry for being kinda quiet lately, but I've been on vacation visiting my family up in Northern California again...
I also went to three Black Crowes concerts at the Fillmore in San Francisco. They did five shows there; I saw the last three. They played seven hours of music -- 54 songs, no repeats -- over the three shows. To compare, I've seen Satch 22 times and have probably heard only ("only"...haha) 60 different songs. It's cool to see them mix things up as much as they do.
I had an amazing time. Last night Phil Lesh came out for the encore and jammed on Grateful Dead stuff with the Black Crowes for 30 minutes or so.
And there are more women at Crowes shows than there are at Satch shows, which is nice. I met a crazy one at Thursday's show (woohoo!)...she lives the next town over from my family, but I'm usually down in Long Beach so that doesn't mean much. Oh well...
Anyway, I'll catch up with posts after my vacation (Tuesday-ish)...I just wanted to stop by and say hey.
...Austin...

Cappy, yer a laugh riot! Yer problem is obvious...yer buying cans or bottles. You need to buy yer beer by the BARREL! Then, you get a nice long hose and hook it to the end of the tap. The other end, of course, goes in yer mouth. Just pull the throttle every time you need a drink. You'll get yer swerve on much more efficiently that way. Silly, silly man.
Alan, don't make me come over there!

Phil I'm still here....just reading and occasionally wading in to remind you all I'm still here and interested. I'm saddened by all this lawsuit stuff. Bored, I typed in the two words associated with the band into a thesaurus. If anyone can do better I'll be happy, but for now I call them 'Chillyparticipate'
Now for a confession, I quite like them, I see their point in the world of pop, and fair enough, the world is big enough to accomodate every taste in music. I even, at the behest of an ex, owned one of their CD's...I don't know which one....so obviously it didn't have that big an impact on me!
Now Joe playing, has a huge impact on me. It's not just about the music (although it's mostly about the music), it's about being interested in the music maker, and in this case the music maker happens to be a really nice guy. Oh enough...everythings been said!
On another note....I've made a pact with my children NOT to wake me at 4.15am on christmas morning. A little bit of negotiation took place I said 7.30 they said 7 so we settled on 7.15! I hate it because I have to wait for them to go to sleep so I can sneak into their rooms to fill their stockings and they're so bloody excited they're not asleep until 3am!!!!!!!
I love Christmas!
