Joe, love the new song from your upcoming album...it makes my heart so happy :) and I can use all I can get, lol!!
Happy happy happy!! Can't wait for the full album to be released!!
Deb, hugs from me too, what you're going through isn't easy at all, went through something similiar with my mum many years ago. Luckily she got help and proper medication and was able to pull out of it but not without the meds, and lots of time and support. I hope your mum finds her way out too.
Excellent Roo...we so love Joe!!

I was just thinking of an awesome summer, driving-with-the windows-open kinda playlist and of course this comes out today. I should put it as the opening track. haha
Any suggestions for the playlist?
So far I have:
Foreplay/Long Time - Boston
Ramble On - Led Zep
Long Distance Runaround - Yes
Red Barchetta - Rush

I love, love, LOVE A Door Into Summer. This is my favorite "lead single" from Joe of all the years I've been a fan (going back to 1998 or so).
The song doesn't sound as "out there" as what I was envisioning from his new band...if I didn't know better I'd place it in the SBM/ITLIS? era, and not with a band that includes Mike Keneally and Vinny Colaiuta. But that's just an observation, not a complaint. Joe's singles are usually on the safe/accessible side, and if that's the case again with this album I'll be more than pleased.
I love the song and I love the arrangement. It really has a "band" vibe that is a good follow-up to the last album. And speaking of that, I wish this track were the first one on the new album because the keys in the intro really remind me of Longing, the last bonus track on the last album.
I can't wait for May 7! :)
And rest in peace, Andy Johns...

Terrible news about Andy, we've all heard his work... playing through some of his stuff now, v cool guy
Joe - love the driving rhythmn, production etc of the lead single. Am sure there's even more to come as usual when the album drops, some sonic blast stuff that will melt us all. Very cool... bring on the 7th and then the tour. Something to look forward to!
DoTheStu - spot on about those keys, I'm setting up a track list now where they follow each other and it works very well
And now....
Joe Satriani - Home albeit played by me I'm afraid folks. It's been a while, hope it's okay
Good wishes to all,
P
Leave me alone for 5 minutes when I'm in a good mood and I end up doing silly stuff like this....
Joe Satriani - A Door Into Summer , make of it what you will
Cheers

Joe Satriani changed my life since i discovered his music back to 2006, i decided to devote my life to guitar and try hard as i can learning his tunes first before making my own compositions. I would like to say that i love his music and he's the nicest guy i've ever met in the music industry, so humble. he's my hero of all time. Can't wait to see him playing live with marco minneman and bryan beller. UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM is coming. Prepare to be amazed again ...
Satch is history

Well i'm a little surprised that all those commenting on the new single think it's so good. Nice work, good vibe, fair enough but i get the feeling i've heard it all before (bits from here and there). There is nothing new or edgy in it for me and i feel a little disappointed. To me it is the Budweiiser of Joe's work, not his best stuff but something that will be acceptable to the most people.

In regards to A Door Into Summer, a lot of people are bashing it (mainly on Youtube, not so much here). I mean it's a simple song, but not all of Joe's songs have to be riddled with complexity. This is a good song for summer which is what it's named after. Cruisin' down a highway with the windows open in the middle of June.
It does sound like some of his other work. Particularly Black Swans mixed with Strange Beautiful Music, surprisingly. But again, it's his single. Light Years Away was mainly a heavy rock instrumental with some nice chords in between and a cool arpeggio section at the end. Simple? Kinda. Boring? Not at all. And anyone who has seen it live can agree that it's a kickass song.
Joe is just giving us a little taste without spoiling too much so we can be more amazed when we give the whole album a first listen.

Joe interviewed on Guitar Gods and Masterpieces Aussie TV show
This was just uploaded but recorded a year ago when Joe was here for the G3 tour. "Guitar Gods and Masterpieces" is a great little show on independent TV here in Oz and they give exposure to all sorts of genres and guitarists. The host adopts this crazy character "Hack Wanger" I think because he actually works for a music retailer and can't use his real name, and he is really kooky with a silly voice. Joe finds it funny as did Steve Vai when he was on the show. Nice little chat with Joe.
Enjoy.
PS hope you wear the orange pants on Saturday Joe.

Hey Joe, I can't wait for the new album, i'm still trying my best to sound like you in the 80's let alone the freaky smooth stuff you have goin' on now. My fantasy album is you working with Eddie Kramer for obvious reasons. Since the tragic passing of Andy Johns I began to think of you working with Mr. Kramer again (mabe even dare I say it at Electric Ladyland) You know you want to. Just fantasizing sonicly Thanks , yours truly Shane Storey

Thanks for checking out my A Door Into Summer video peeps
Skippygirl - so sis, are you going to tell us more about Joe's pants???
Thanks (5 or so hours after I heard it I think).
Must only be 24hrs now? Sorted your outfit? Camera? Chosen signatory item? Planning planning planning dear
Blue Moon - thanks mate. You didn't get to post a curtains comment on the video this time : ) How long til the ear melting music comes our way?
Two Shay - now didn't you say that last album? I hear you. But aren't you at least enjoying the low down rhtymn laden'ness of the track? It would suit vocals equally well. I likes a bit of solid (driving) rock me
I still can't type can I!
F me I miss my Dad today. Broke several times... and all because of a drinking straw. Yikes
Anyways, more new Joe tunes soon so.... COOL!
